You're cooking your seeds Heidi! You should find a 'seedling heat mat controller'!! Easy-peasy. You simply put the probe into the dirt of one pot or cell of the insert tray (way better than pots) and the temperature of the soil determines when the heat comes on. This eliminates cooking the medium - and boiling off ALL of the moisture - putting it up on the inside of the plastic dome - and making the humidity in the enclosure 100% - this, yields mould.
And if mould does occur - an application of H2O2 enriched water, sprayed on the soil will INCREASE oxygen flow through the root medium - eliminating your mould on top.
But getting a simple, easy to use, thermostat to control your heat mat - will eliminate virtually all of these issues!
Good luck. Best wishes from the Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada.
(the medicinal herbs I grow - - are THC and CBD!! one for pain - one for inflammation.)
Thanks for the tip!
@@HeidiVillegas My pleasure.
Do you use H2O2 mixed with water for added aeration of seedlings and direct spray of roots with a spritz?
I have seen recommendations to cut 'standard 3%' H2O2 from 1:4 all the way to 1:48 for these applications!!
Thanks Heidi, I saw mold on mine yesterday. I wasn’t sure what to do about it
Hope it goes away, Sara! :-) Just in time!
@@HeidiVillegasso we don’t remove the mold? I’m freaking out 😭😭😭😭
I just noticed mold growing on the soil of my seedlings. I was a little disappointed because I have vegetables and fruits seedlings. Is it okay to still transplant these or should I just start over?
If your plants are doing fine, just scrape it off. :-)
Sprinkle cinnamon on top and you won’t get mold
Cinnamon is great! It's actually my favorite way to get rid of fungus gnats too! :-)
All the videos say it’s not a big deal for the plant, but I’m more concernes about my health and allergies :/ mold is annoying
You can always compost everything! :-)
Hi Heidi, 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed 1 (HP) - 4 parts water is suppsed to be good. Use as a foliar spray.
Thank you SO much for that tip!
hydrogen peroxide is supposed to be good against mildew and blight also@@HeidiVillegas
