We are based just down the coast at La Rochelle, sometimes we get lucky & wear shorts n tee shirts on a sunny afternoon even in november. No guarantee's, though sunny weather clothes are always kept on board.

Just took delivery of hull 141 (NYC) - any thoughts on the blocks for the self tacking jib? Things of rigging a traveler system like for mail so I can control from cockpit.
+Stuart Israel that would be a great thing. I have to walk up there when wind is very weak so self taking doesn't go from one side to the other with the waves. Let's me know what you did. Take care. Thanks.

I am not jealous , i am not jealous, I am not jealous ;-) Wonderful, you must of been like a kid at Christmas, love the 42 and really interested on your thoughts with regards to sailing abilities as we have to assume its a dream on the hook!
Rudolf gordon-seymour :)))). thanks for your comments ! Soon I will post episode 2 to show how things moved along after delivery and out day tô day on our crossings. I have hired a professional captain for the first month so I could learn as much as possible. Highly recommend doing it so. After that a couple can sail it without any issues. Go for it ! The boat is awesome.
I will be going through the same process in a few years, hiring a captain is a great idea , I would imagine you will be fairly competent after a month , I am veering towards a Cat as I have kids and feel its just a bit more stable and will provide a bit more room, plus they look awesome!
Rudolf gordon-seymour I believe that would be a good approach. I know of several families that are now in the process to move From a sailboat to a Cat. Good luck and keep in touch !

I am thinking about buying a lagoon 42. Please tell us why are you selling yours after just 6 months? Please give us your feedback
HI Sotnam Dorje ! In reality we took delivery of our L42 on July 3rd, 2017 and we kept JOY for 1 year and half. Our objective was to cruise the med, cross the Atlantic, sail a little at the BVIs and then sell the boat. Mission accomplished! :-) The L42 was for us the right platform and if I had to do it again I would buy a L42 for sure, but would possibly choose less optional, we found out that many of those we did not use. I truly hope you can make the best possible decision for your project. The Lagoon 42 not only took us safely between Europe and the Caribbean but also held its value, enabling us to sell it once we were ready to move to a larger Cat. Fair winds.

First of all congratulations ! I believe you will be very happy with the Lagoon 42. I can tell you things we did not used much or I wished I had done post delivery. I will mention the key ones with the hopes to help you. 1.) Solar panels, we bought from Lagoon but wished I had done later, specially because installation is done after the boat goes in the water pre delivery and we had some issues with installation. also solar panels sold by Lagoon did not meet our expectations in terms of number of solar panels and watts. I would recommend a rack at the back of the boat on top of ding with at least 5 x 200Watts rigid panels instead. 2.) Electric winches / We had 2 of them, in my opinion one is more than enough. 3.) ordered 2 zeus chart plotters, I believe one on the cockpit would be enough as well, taking in consideration you have wireless connectivity to ipad 4.) We got water maker and AC from factory and it was a good decision, even though we used AC only on marinas. 5.) Worth to have the USB ports on cabins, not very expensive. 6.) Folding props were great and would do it again. 7.) Bow sprit for Code Zero from factory is a good idea 8.) Order a code 0 sail from a sailmaker instead of lagoon, you will use it a lot specially in the med. 8.) I had the under water lights installed in the factory and it was great, had countless ours of fun swimming at night and watching marine life.9.) Cockpit closure was order at factory, quality was good but very expensive, I believe that could be done afterwards as well. 10.) Mixed feeling about teak, it looked great, but it was a lot of work to maintain and it did stain the white fiber around the boat. I hope this small list helps you.
