- On Sailing SV JOY EPISODE 2 you will come along with us Leaving Les Sables d Olonne in France to Cross the Bay of Biscay
towards La Coruna in Spain. This the first crossing and our shake down sail. It was 321 Nautical miles crossing that was done in 3 days.
Lots happened during the crossing, from crashing the DJI Mavic Drone on our cockpit to catching an awesome 12 kilos Tuna. Sea state was moderate and wind speeds varied from calm zero knots to up to 30 knots. Love the boat! My wife and I or trying to make up our mind between the Lagoon 42 and the FP Helia 44. Great to see it in action.
+Head Sail that's awesome ! Difficult decision. My recommendation is for you to visit both of them and see how you feel inside them. If you can go for a test sail even better. Both have its advantages and disadvantages. I went thru the same predicament ! :)
Me too. I ordered a lagoon 42. The helm station is more open to the cockpit, hard top over helm station, self tack jib, only 1 1/2' shorter and was lots less bucks.

SABBOATICAL Not really ! Minimal issues came up. We were actually very surprised since I was pretty sure there was going to be problems ! It would had been only normal right ? Lucky I guess so far :). Only issue was that we got an overcharge power alert when motoring, or when Bats are already at 100%. ! Lagoon is aware of the problem and said they would be fix. Let's see.
That’s not bad at all for a Biscay crossing - I’m sure Lagoon will look after you, there are plenty of dealers between La Acaruna and the Med. Good luck!

I have noticed you don't seem to use or have a code zero onboard interested in your reasoning why not?
Hi and thanks for your message. We got a code zero after 8 months that we bought our boat to cross the Atlantic. We did not have one simply because we were very inexperienced and did not know what to get. Dealer at the time pushed a ballon type of sail that proved to be not the best option. Code zero is definitely the way to and we will have it on our new lagoon 46 that will be ready next year. Stay safe Ed and Patricia
