    0 degrees is the prime meridian, not UTC/GMT which is a time zone.

    I used to mix up longitude and latitude. Then I read that latitude has 'tit' in it, and tits go from left to right. Now I remember the difference.

    As I said on another one of your videos…thank goodness for this channel. You have explained so clearly what I needed to know. Thank you for giving me a chance of passing the Day Skipper course!!!!

    0° longitude is called the prime meridian. UTC and GMT are names for the time zone to the east of the prime meridian.

    I did a sailing course a couple of years back and found your points of sail video most helpful. Next week I'm going to be learning navigation... Impeccable timing on this video 🤣👍

    very interesting, I remember a little bit of the basic theory from middle school, No practical education, I didn't make it into the boy scouts 🤣🤣🤣 (antisocial since birth), I had to learned to make sense of a compass readings and uses here in the USA.

    There's a mistake. We use meridians to measure Latitude, as Latitud is North or South from Equator. And we use paralels to measure Longitud, as we count from Greenwich to East or West.

    so if the compass was least would you deduct the 3 degrees from the 3.15 T?

    • @searchingforcoconuts2248
      @searchingforcoconuts2248  Рік тому +1

      Hi Patrick, if the variation in your area is east, then yes... variation is specific to the area. Also, you have added a point in your comment, looks like 3.15 whereas it is 315... If the variation is east, then yes, deduct the 3 degrees from 315
