    Beretta has been making beautiful works of art for 500 Years!! This is not a plastic throwaway gun like a Glock. It’s an Italian renaissance masterpiece!! Period. I have every Cheetah and I will say this one shoots fantastic. Just use Hornady critical defense ammo for carry and you are good to go.
    Forza Beretta!!! 🙌🏼🇮🇹👍🏼❤️💪🏼🇺🇸

    I bought this pistol last July for about $750 at a big box outdoor store. I was well aware of the 380 acp's ballistic limitations compared to a 9mm. Yes, there are 9mm pistols that are smaller, weigh less and hold as many or more rounds. It does not shoot as softly as I assumed it would because of it's size and weight. It is plenty accurate and it eats every type of ammo I have fed it. Would I pay $1K for another one ? Probably not. Will I concealed carry this pistol? Probably not. Will it fail after 700 rounds like my Sig P365 380 did? Probably not.

      It's a straight blowback design so yes the "felt" recoil is worse than a locked breach. A barrel that doesn't move means more accuracy, and faster times on target. I own a ton of different guns, but the 85F has always been the one I've shot the best. Look at picking up a used 81/82 barrel. It will fit right in, and allow you to shoot 32ACP which is a hoot out of that pistol. Alchemy makes a threaded barrel in 380, as well as 32ACP for $185, and are in stock now. They usually do them batches, so they aren't always available. The extra half inch of barrel is a plus also. Very well made.

    I traded in a shield+ for it and used my store credit to get it, $700 total for a brand new one but only cost me $100 out of pocket. As a 90 series true believer, this is a nearly perfect pistol. I would have rather had the slide decocker instead of the 90x style frame safety, and i do prefer the aesthetic of slanted slide serrations as opposed to the 90x style straight serrations, but besides that I am in love with it. I really dont care that it's in 380, it's a hell of a lot more deadly than 22, it's a solid defense round. The gun fits in my hand perfectly despite being very comfortable with the larger 92fs. I have the standard black model, and just had my gunsmith refinish the barrel and guide rod in INOX just like my 92fs samurai edge build, it's gorgeous. I think only the special color variants were priced higher than $700, but i prefer black guns with some INOX parts. I definitely wouldnt have bought it if it were $1000 given that a 92fs is like $650, but for $700 and getting it with a trade in(I'm finally rid of all my striker fire pistols!) I'm very happy.

    I would consider carrying it cocked, and let the DA trigger act as my safety. If I'm using a holster that covers the trigger, that's enough. I think Beretta considered this very carefully, and designed this for users that do not like safety's on their carry firearms, especially those having striker-fired guns with no safety.

      What I personally do is rack a round, flip up the safety to decock it, then turn off the safety and lower the hammer the rest of the way via a gentle and short pull of the trigger, so the hammer is fully down but you have 1 in the chamber ready for double action. I just don't like the idea of the hammer floating partially cocked with how the frame decocking works. I definitely would have preferred the 92fs style slide decocker, but I still love this gun.

    • @glenhar1225
      @glenhar1225 4 місяці тому

      @@ATthemusician It also has an internal trigger safety that requires almost full pull to release the pin. That intermediate hammer block takes force of that internal safety when decocking. Either way, safe.

    I have the standard model and love the look of it, but it definitely doesn't shoot as soft as my Ruger Security-380 or P365-380. I can't help but feel like I probably should just grab an XL frame for my 365 and use that as a higher capacity carry option at 12+1 rather than 13+1 here. I still do like this Beretta but I feel like the Ruger Security-380 is a better buy for most people that want a 380 in this size range as it racks a lot easier and shoots softer as well as having more potential capacity. That being said, you never know if you'd have to shoot left handed and the Ruger lacks an ambi-safety.

      Only the special limited colors/launch edition are $1000, the rest retail for $700. Slightly more expensive than the 92fs but I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality steel and aluminum gun compared to a plastic gun, which many of them have sand paper-like grips, very difficult to activate slide releases, magazines that don't click in nicely, sketchy striker fire design, and just genuinely ugly aesthetics.

    I have an 85F. Great Gun. The 80 will take a 81/82, 84/85 barrel as well. Allegheny Arms makes treaded barrels for these, and are available now. I bought their 81/82 barrel for mine which allows me to shoot 32 as well. Super fun round out of that gun, especially suppressed. You get what you pay for, and they hold their value. I have a 70s as well as a 71. Best 22 pistols ever made, and the sexiest pistol hands down. BTW, these were MAIN carry weapons for numerous European, and South American Countries. Italy being one of them. LOL I've yet to have a malfunction with manufactured rounds. 32, or 380. The open slide design is great. The single stack 380 mags work with the 32. Double stack might need an original 32 mag, or some feed lip tweaking.

    The safety is a de-cocker , push the safety up passed the safety knoch and it de-cocks the action. Yes... it's not cheap but then again it's Not Cheap . It's the Swiss watch of the firearms world , designed for small hands of the female Ms.Bond type . It is the finest shooting 380 on the market and your paying for THAT ! The double action is a safety feature, however cocked back at the draw puts it in single action for a short 4.5lb pull. As with every firearm practice, practice, practice to become safe and fast , put in the time .

    I think for many of the original Cheetah fans, this the new pistol lacks some of the feel that made the Cheetah popular. Much of the popularity of the orignal is from the feel of that fat rounded grip that is similar to a smaller version of 92 series gun. The newer model just doesn't have the same feel. My original Beretta 81 BB with wood grips feels better to me than the new design. Some also prefer the old safety design while some prefer the newer decocker type. Personally I'd have rather had the new gun make with good sites (maybe a little larger than these) the original safety, a slightly shorter height & length gun (maybe trim a 1/4''-1/2'' from each) with the same lines as the original. That's just my choice though. In the end it's hard to please everyone with a new model
