  • I review the Beretta 80x with 1000 rounds of varying ammo and find out what runs reasonably and how often the gun needs to be cleaned!! This is an amazing little pistol.

    Thanks for the great video. I've got a Beretta 84B that I bought new back in 1989-90 which I dearly love. I looked at one of these and they seem like a great modernization of the older Cheetahs. Don't think I'll get one but they sure feel great in the hand.

    I just bought one of these yesterday and fired it this morning. It took the first 200 rounds without a problem. Its surprisingly accurate too. I shot the PMC bronze 90 grain. Every time i shoot, i use something different to see what it likes and doesn't like. So far i like this little pocket gun.

    When it comes to semi-auto pistols for self defense in .380, I've always used Bersa Thunder stuff (single and double stack models). I enjoy .380, so I jumped on this gun when it first came out and it's my daily carry at the moment. I've never had trouble with the safety/decocker since I know that the item never advertised the ability to be carried cocked and locked. My experience aside, I think it's valid to point out the confusion over the safety switch since it gives feedback in that half position. After around 400 rounds, I noticed that the screws on the rear optic/rear iron sight plate started to become loose.

    Now I clean my 92 every 1k or so rounds but I put a stronger recoil spring on it, also I shoot indoors I don't know if that has any relation.... you should be looking on springs this weapons like to have spring recoil change every 3k rounds or so. 🎉💥💥🔥💥🇺🇸🇺🇸

    Got this for my wife CCL. I had 1000 rounds shipped to me to do this exact same thing to make sure it runs. Made it through 300 and had close to 7 dead triggers. Been reading and trying to find fixes so I can feed the other 700 with hopes to gain back confidence

    • @theworldreviewed8527
      @theworldreviewed8527 10 місяців тому +1

      Speer lawman 95gr. I don’t think the ammo was the issue as every one of these didn’t even have a primer struck. Completely dead trigger

    • @triggerbarPhD
      @triggerbarPhD  10 місяців тому

      @theworldreviewed8527 oh dang that sucks. Yah my issues seemed to be related to the ammo. Either had a hard time feeding it or it was very dirty ammo and resumed firing normally after cleaning.

    • @tylerwilliams1882
      @tylerwilliams1882 10 місяців тому +3

      @theworldreviewed8527 Im not sure if this will help at all but I discovered these things.
      1# Putting any upwards pressure on the safety while firing can cause a dead trigger occasionally even if the safety remains in the fire position. Solution is to keep a proper firing grip and ride the safety similar to CZ or 1911. Its easier to induce this problem as the gun breaks in.
      #2 This was the biggest problem, the gun has a little allen screw that can adjust the trigger over travel and reset. The shorter you make the over travel and reset the more likely the trigger will fail to reset. I imagine this is because its not allowing the internals to clear and function properly. I backed it off 1 revolution and my gun has ran flawlessly ever since. I managed to recreate this problem multiple times while dry firing and noticed the set screw can move every 150-200 rounds especially with heavier loads like AAC 100gr. I just keep and eye on it whenever i clean my gun. Hope this helps

    Thanks for the review, 7 FTFs is somewhat concerning, so Hornady ammo may work better? I have the silver 84FS Cheetah and could use those mags, so waiting to see if Beretta releases a silver 80x.

      @triggerbarPhD  4 місяці тому

      That’s a great question. I have not tried it with critical duty or defense. That Fiocchi defense round is really very good and I’ve seen tests on other channels where it is better through clothing than even the Hydroshock deep rounds.

    I think it's so interesting that Beretta came out with this...just when most of us thought .380 was on the way out. I'm a fan of Berettas, love my M9A4. Have thought about picking up an X model, but really want an M9 similar to what I served with. Yea the one issue with these and the 92 series that are setup for optics is how high they sit.
    Sucks to see the failures it had, but you're spot on it's most likely a cleaning issue, but could be the lower quality ammo. No issues with a decocker on a pistol. Great review!

    1:30 - haha
    btw - what was that at about 3:25 ish...where you look to adjust your grip, but then it looks a lot like you made a full trigger squeeze, and nothing happened? And then just squeezed again, and it fired? Especially when I slow it to .25x speed, it does.

    • @triggerbarPhD
      @triggerbarPhD  11 місяців тому +1

    My 80x has been amazing so far. I did notice the first 250-300 rounds the gun was very tight but everything loosened up and now it runs like a top with anything. Cleaning is a big deal though because its a blowback design, just something to keep in mind. Not a gun you buy like a glock and run thousands of rounds through without cleaning or lubrication, maintenance is more similar to a rimfire.

    • @triggerbarPhD
      @triggerbarPhD  5 місяців тому

      I only had the optic on for the last hundred rounds but I’ve shot it since then. I haven’t put nearly as many rounds on it and I have heard from some that the berreta plate bends a bit and isn’t as rigid as people would like. I can confirm that it does move with a little bit of pressure because the mount on the slide is so thin. I’ve heard others have had good luck with their other plates. Sorry I can’t remember which other plates. I have a Cyelee Cat Pro on another gun and was able to find a discount code from 704 tactical for 25% off at Amazon and I really like that optic. But don’t have nearly as much time with it as I do the Holosun’s.

    I had a ton of problems with mine. Gun powder kept hitting my face when shooting. Recoil wasn’t noticeably lighter than my 92x compact. Optic cover plate kept working itself loose every 100 rounds or so even after applying loc tite. And every 30-40 rounds I got a dead trigger malfunction. Cleaning every 100rds did not help. It kept up like that for 500 rounds. I sent it into Beretta and they didn’t even try fixing it and sent it back to me (with literally no communication whatsoever) still not working.
