Beretta 84F saved my life on July 7, 1992 after getting shot in Chicago during an attempted carjacking. I've since carried a Glock 43, 43x, and 19, as well as the Sig P365, 365xl and a S&W .38. But the .380 Beretta will always be my favorite gun as it saved my life.

The 80's series pistols have everything going for them. They are robust and reliable as they are aesthetically beautiful. They are well proven as military and police issue sidearms. My 85f is well over 30 years old with thousands of rounds through it. To date, only a firing pin replacement and a single easily cleared FTE. There is a reason that Beretta has been around for more than 500 years. Bellissima!

Wouldnt it be cool though, if there were cheap aftermarket shrouds you could screw onto the bottom rail to give the 80x that classic, smooth draw, sleek look? And if you want to add a light or laser, just unscrew the little plastic two piece 3D printed shroud.

It's WHAT I WANT!" -knuckle draggers. People want to complain about the price but own a 400 dollar glock they've turned into a 1200 dollar frankin pistol and are super excited about it.

That actually summed up this comments section pretty aptly...
Too fat, want a single stack.
Too weak, should be 30SC or 9mm.
Too expensive, even though it's a machined frame.
Too heavy, even though the entire point of the 80 line since the seventies was to have a shootable mid size low recoil platform.
Too oldschool, even though it is, by design, a hammer fired DA/SA.
The world is full of fickle bitches. Somehow companies like ZEV and Wilson Combat still turn a profit.

As many others have said, the gun seems pretty cool. But the price really needs to come down closer to $500-$600. It feels like the last couple years of gun releases have all come out twice as expensive as they should. I remember all of the PCCs coming out last year and the launch prices were like $1000 for each of them. $1000 is a lot of money for a gun, especially a 380.

2:23 He just contracted himself. He said that .380 allows them to use the direct blowback system, which is true, but then goes on to say that it also allows the use of a lighter recoil spring.
That's not true, or rather both things can't be true at the same time in the same gun design.
Direct blowback guns need a heavier recoil spring to help keep the slide closed until the chamber pressure drops to a safe level.
Generally speaking, a direct blowback .380 will be at least as difficult to rack as a locked breech 9mm, and in my experience is often more so.
You can get locked breech .380s (eg Ruger LCP) and they are easy to rack, but direct blowback .380s are usually comparatively difficult to rack, and have snappier recoil.
I think Beretta should have made this new Cheetah a locked breech design, to really benefit from the reduced recoil impulse of the 380 cartridge.

Why do people assume everyone wants to carry the smallest, lightest, most compact pistols in .380 and 9mm?
Plenty of people carry medium and full sized handguns. My smallest carry guns are a Glock 29 and a SIG P239 in .357 SIG. I prefer even larger guns. 3” revolvers and full sized 1911’s.
I don’t have a .380 but want to add one to my pistol battery. The 80X is right up my alley and I doubt I’m the only one.

We also tried other .380 pistols, but they were just so tiny. I'm glad that there's a premium .380 being released that's metal and hammer fired.
