I AGREE SO MUCH ON THIS. Joycon drift is still a thing and nightmare even after buying mine almost 1 year after the initial release date. My friend have issues with all of his joycons (4) so he did have to buy other joycons again. My joycons just started to have some light joycons drift issues. Also , I have both the pro controller for both the switch and the wii u. The wii u one is superior for me because of it's battery life (wii u 80 h vs switch 30 h). Also the fact that unless my pro-controller for the switch is on charger, if I don't touch it for a month, even if it was fully charged, the battery will became completely empty. I never had this issue with my wii u pro controller.
Well yeah that would make sense. The Switch needs small buttons so it can be taken places and the joysticks were just designed terribly. I literally sent my joycons this last Friday to get fixed. A better thing I thought was that Wii U gamepad joysticks feel ten times better than the ones on Xbox One or PS4.
The small buttons on the switch could have also been manufactured using the same button materials/mechanisms, instead of those stiff & clicky variants. The switch lite has perfect buttons, albeit with the same dodgy sticks.
@@RC-pj1pr Oh so I get it. You would like more 'mushy' buttons. It is more comfortable. I've never played or held a Switch Lite but I do have a 3ds and it had the same hard tactile buttons. So I'm guessing they carried it over from that. But if they fixed it with the Lite, that's amazing! They're improving which is always good.
When it comes to games, the WiiU is like the opposite of the Vita. The WiiU has really good 1st party support but pretty bad 3rd party support, whereas the Vita has pretty good 3rd party support but pretty bad first party support.
And both of them are among my favorite systems! The Wii U is probably my favorite home console and the Vita is a top 3 handheld for me after the DS and GBA.
the Wii backwards compatibility on this is incredible and the main way I experienced a lot of the big games since it cleans up the image for HDMI really well Best Zelda machine and best virtual console machine
The WiiU is such an underrated console. In terms of games I honestly might like it more than the Switch acutually. Games like Splatoon 2 are a downgrade for me because of the solo or 4 players only ranked match. Also in some instances I prefer the WiiU gamepad over the Switch. Mario Maker and Splatoon come to mind. Also the amount of first party games on WiiU that I'm interested in is quite a lot higher than on Switch. Not to say the Switch is bad, far from it, but I might prefer the WiiU over it. Anyway, really good video overall. I think you covered the different aspects of the WiiU pretty well and gave quite a lot of useful information. I really enjoyed watching the video.
Nintendo needs to keep porting over the first party WiiU games if they want to make the switch a wholly better offer. They have a few more good titles to finish up...

Obviously for people who didn't own a WiiU that'd be great, but all the WiiU owners will feel betrayed and wonder why they even bought a WiiU in the first place. Also a few sequels are just inferior to their WiiU counterparts in my opinion. I really didn't like Mario Odyssey too much, but I really like 3D World. The same goes for Splatoon... I like the 1st one better, because they screwed up ranked with friends in Splatoon 2. Also many other games that are popular on the Switch are just WiiU ports... There is really a need for some new games. We still need a new 2D Mario and a new Mario Kart for example... If that is gonna happen is another question though.

Had a Wii U for 4-5 years. Stopped playing it early in bc of the lack of games I had but later on discovered how to homebrew it and did exactly that. Was able to play game backups with ease, played DS games that were not from the eShop, played through a large variety of gamecube emulated game’s, and ultimately made me play the switch again due to the fact I modded it. Definitely if you plan on purchasing a Wii U, look into modding it and external storages like SD cards & flashdrives.
While Xenoblade X is pretty weak in some aspects, if you push through it and get the Skell with the flight module, you will be in for a treat. Kicking back and flying around the huge world is one of the most cathartic experiences you can have with a game.
You're in for a treat the moment you start. The exploration on foot is amazing. It was the most thrilling experience I've had in a game...since I played Super Mario Galaxy when I was about 11.
Me and my first 2 friends were the only ones who owned a WiiU in my School (4th-8th grade) peers. But hey, we still loved that thing to pieces. For me, it wad one of the 8th gen systems (belive it or not) that was part of my childhood (at least before my family got the switch in Christmas 2017 (7th grade), but me and my siblings still love it by Heart. Now; the WiiU itself is low-key dead, since eventually the component outlet (the one that connects the console to your house's electricity) from the Console itself got broken and it will be a long while till we get that fixed, till then we'll all still remember it fondly till this day.

Besides 3DS and Switch, WiiU is almost the best console one could have. That is when it is modded. It can play almost all Gamecube games natively. It already supports Wii games and Wii Remote and has plug-in slot for Wii sensor bar. With Wii Classic controller, one is able to have analog trigger. Also with WiiU gamecube adapter, it can use and play Gamecube games with original Gamecube controller. Also with Mayflash gamecube Wii Remote adapter, one is able to use Gamecube controller as Classic controller in Wii games. It can play NES, SNES, MSX, Turbografx-16, GBA, SMS, Gameboy, Gameboy Color games and most of the N64 games(but not all) and DS games via VC injects. The console had many design flaws and issues but with modding, its potential is almost fully unlocked.
Soft modding the wii u is great, I've done it to mine and my brothers consoles. You can install forwarders to launch Wii soft mod applications if you also mod the virtual Wii. My soft modded Wii hardly gets touched now because of it. I still use my soft modded wii to region change and play different virtual console games that aren't the same region as my console since I can't do that on the Wii u or don't know of a way to do it. The only thing you need to be wary of when soft modding the virtual wii is that you need to download specific virtual wii homebrew wads and software or you can brick the virtual wii
There's also adapters that attach to Wii remotes that allow you to use GameCube controllers as classic controllers. Really only useful for Wii games, but I'd rather play Wii U games with a Pro Controller anyway.
It’s July 14, 2020 and I just bought my very first video console which is the Wii-U since I bought my GameCube brand new back in the day 😂. I can’t wait till it gets here to play it for the first time. I’m so excited.
Picking one up from my friend in 2021 with all the accessories and games included for 120 bucks a good deal considering how much they are going for now. Super excited to experience it in 2021.
For me, the only good reason to still have a GameCube is for the Game Boy Player (still the best way to play GB/GBC and GBA games on your TV). For actually playing GameCube games I would rather use a Wii or modded Wii U.
@@trixniisama I would argue WiiU GB injects are much more convenient with save states and ability to remap buttons. But I like what they did with 3D effect in 3DS GB games though. Feels as if looking at real GB top half.

Without Swiss, the stock gameboy player/disc combo is pretty bad imo. While the most convenient, aspect ratio and video output are barely passable. If cost is not a factor, the gba consolizer is hands down the definitive way to play gb/gbc/gba on your modern display.
Wii U has the best retro games in a console. With a hacked console, you can play even more retro games like GC or other games that not exists on VC by emulation. It's a incredible console for this purposes IMO. And yes, it's the best for Zelda games too!
Here's a fun fact: There is actually a rare model of Wii U that is White and has 32GB of internal storage. I don't believe the model number is any different, and these were only sold as "Refurbished" consoles on Nintendo's online store.

I think it’s a number of things like backwards compatibility a lack of old Nintendo games like dkc and Metroid maybe no Themes like 3ds. Oh and swapping cartridges is rubbish on switch they are the wrong way round and the rubber cap is annoying
An underappreciated console, the gamepad ought to have been an option for games and system settings. The gamepad breaks; gone is the ability to play games like Pikmin 3. The only way to buy a new gamepad was to purchase a new console. The Switch was helped in sales because Nintendo focused on the greatness of their games Instead of a controller.
WiiU is mostly talked about by US youtubers, who all had Wii before. But if you never had Wii, WiiU is amazing- entire Wii library, virtual console, etc. There is no point in buying the Wii in 2020, WiiU is so much better.

TVii is the best thing you favorite console will never have, it's ashamed they didn't do it with the Switch. But regardless very underrated gem that comes in clutch. Also we need every Zelda game ported to switch, along with Xenoblade Chronicles X (we need all the Xenoblades games on one device). Lastly Elma for Smash!!!!

Great video. Wii U is one of my all time favorite consoles as well. Sad to think of all the missed potential it had. Like I love all the on rails light gun shooters on Wii, would've been great to have HD versions on Wii U. Likewise more games with nunchuck movement and Wii mote aiming but in HD like the Wii had. The sensor bar makes a huge difference, and while there are some attempts on Switch, they're not as good and require a recalibrate/reset button.
The Wii U pro controller lasting so long was both a blessing and a curse. I only had to charge that thing like once every couple months lol. But due to that, I lost the charger. Honestly felt like it lasted longer than 80 hours lmao
I highly regret getting rid of my Windwaker edition WiiU years ago, I have been debating for a while to get another but worries me how long will Nintendo keep the eShop open. Is a shame Nintendo didn't know how to market the WiiU and for that reason was a flop but there was so much potential there.
its too bad the lack of respect the wiiu gets. i loved it. turns out the reason i play my switch the way i do is because of the switch. no matter the game or show i always used the pad to play or watch. i naver dock my switch. it'll sound wierd but it always just feel more intimate. not in a sexy way, but a personal or private way.

I would not recommend using the analog out at all. Wii games do look better over a pure digital out. The only benefit of using analog WOULD have been that virtual console games run at true 240p, but this is not supported on either the vWii’s or the Wii U’s Virtual Consoles.
If they did a xbox one they could have turned it back. dont make the tablet necessery and drive the price down. people cant even use the consoles menu without one and that makes getting used ones not easy. i have one it was fun for a second but i dont really need the tablet
Yes, both thoses games are available on wii u. (Also on the wii u both bayonnetta game (1 and 2) come bundle together in physical forms (cd). The switch version only have one of them in physical version, the other is a digital code.)
The Wii U had some good exclusives for its time, but I hated the console itself. The GamePad was an interesting concept at first, but it's not aesthetically presentable and it isn't needed for the vast majority of games. Most games play just fine with a regular controller. It should've been optional and not mandatory. That would've lowered the price of the system and attracted more third-party developers, though the console itself was still very underpowered with a CPU weaker than the Xbox 360. With so many games ported to the Switch and other platforms, the Wii U is only worth it if you wanna play Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fatal Frame, Tokyo Mirage Sessions uncensored and Super Mario 3D World. For those handful of games, I'll just play them on the Cemu emulator. For Wii games, I'd rather get an original Wii. The Wii is backwards compatible with GameCube discs. Sure you can hack a Wii U, but it's better to play GameCube games right out of the box. Plus you can't even use your own discs, gotta download the ISOs.
I think its the best time to buy a Wii u because I didn't want to support Nintendo when they where just 'fuck you our console is shit but we have Mario so buy us anyway' but now that its mostly used so Nintendo sees no money.

Wii U is just a downgraded switch...pretty much any old gen consoles are downgraded from New gen consoles, but Wii u seems worse because it looks uncomfortable to hold with the joysticks on top of the buttons
Nintendo is my least favorite video game company because they have habits of shutting down their online Nintendo console's online servers and their online games' online servers as well. I like Sony, Microsoft and Steam better than Nintendo because Sony, Microsoft and Steam keep their online servers on their games up and running.
Tbh the Wii U is probably the only Nintendo console I can’t recommend in 2020. Unless you’re a diehard Pikmin or Xenoblade fan who has to have every game in the series (and you’re too impatient to wait for the potential Switch ports), I can’t think of any reason to purchase a Wii U over a Switch. If price is a factor, I’d even recommend the New 3DS/2DS over the Wii U.
TBH, wii u pro controller feel bad in my opinion… way worse than the gamepad. Unlike the switch pro controller as Nintendo finally got it right, but still lacks of things such as the analog trigger…
The only reason to buy a wiiu is for virtual console. If you buy the original V1 nintendo switch and download android on it then there will be no point in buying a wii u.

I originally bought a Wii U just to play New Super Mario Bros. U and to try out the Wii U Gamepad.

Great video. Wii U is one of my all time favorite consoles as well. Sad to think of all the missed potential it had. Like I love all the on rails light gun shooters on Wii, would've been great to have HD versions on Wii U. Likewise more games with nunchuck movement and Wii mote aiming but in HD like the Wii had. The sensor bar makes a huge difference, and while there are some attempts on Switch, they're not as good and require a recalibrate/reset button.
I think the Switch missed a huge opportunity to have a Wii u style second screen function.
The Wii U pro controller lasting so long was both a blessing and a curse. I only had to charge that thing like once every couple months lol. But due to that, I lost the charger. Honestly felt like it lasted longer than 80 hours lmao

It's a lot more accurate to compare the GamePad to the bottom screen of a 3DS than the Switch. I think it was intended to be a home console DS.

I highly regret getting rid of my Windwaker edition WiiU years ago, I have been debating for a while to get another but worries me how long will Nintendo keep the eShop open. Is a shame Nintendo didn't know how to market the WiiU and for that reason was a flop but there was so much potential there.
The gamepad was so much more comfortable that switch. I only play handheld and it's nearly impossible to play handheld without a satisfy game grip

its too bad the lack of respect the wiiu gets. i loved it. turns out the reason i play my switch the way i do is because of the switch. no matter the game or show i always used the pad to play or watch. i naver dock my switch. it'll sound wierd but it always just feel more intimate. not in a sexy way, but a personal or private way.
I've never played it but I wish they would put all the Zelda games on the Nintendo switch I would buy them all also I bought breath of the wild but it's real hard to play I still only have three hearts

I would not recommend using the analog out at all. Wii games do look better over a pure digital out. The only benefit of using analog WOULD have been that virtual console games run at true 240p, but this is not supported on either the vWii’s or the Wii U’s Virtual Consoles.

Yes, both thoses games are available on wii u. (Also on the wii u both bayonnetta game (1 and 2) come bundle together in physical forms (cd). The switch version only have one of them in physical version, the other is a digital code.)
The Wii U had some good exclusives for its time, but I hated the console itself. The GamePad was an interesting concept at first, but it's not aesthetically presentable and it isn't needed for the vast majority of games. Most games play just fine with a regular controller. It should've been optional and not mandatory. That would've lowered the price of the system and attracted more third-party developers, though the console itself was still very underpowered with a CPU weaker than the Xbox 360.
With so many games ported to the Switch and other platforms, the Wii U is only worth it if you wanna play Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fatal Frame, Tokyo Mirage Sessions uncensored and Super Mario 3D World.
For those handful of games, I'll just play them on the Cemu emulator.
For Wii games, I'd rather get an original Wii. The Wii is backwards compatible with GameCube discs. Sure you can hack a Wii U, but it's better to play GameCube games right out of the box. Plus you can't even use your own discs, gotta download the ISOs.

I think its the best time to buy a Wii u because I didn't want to support Nintendo when they where just 'fuck you our console is shit but we have Mario so buy us anyway' but now that its mostly used so Nintendo sees no money.

It's up to date. You can setup the remote feature to work with a TV and set top box. Mine is setup for just a TV.

Wii U is just a downgraded switch...pretty much any old gen consoles are downgraded from New gen consoles, but Wii u seems worse because it looks uncomfortable to hold with the joysticks on top of the buttons
That's my initial reaction but over time, I kinda adapt to it...

Nintendo is my least favorite video game company because they have habits of shutting down their online Nintendo console's online servers and their online games' online servers as well. I like Sony, Microsoft and Steam better than Nintendo because Sony, Microsoft and Steam keep their online servers on their games up and running.

Tbh the Wii U is probably the only Nintendo console I can’t recommend in 2020. Unless you’re a diehard Pikmin or Xenoblade fan who has to have every game in the series (and you’re too impatient to wait for the potential Switch ports), I can’t think of any reason to purchase a Wii U over a Switch. If price is a factor, I’d even recommend the New 3DS/2DS over the Wii U.

TBH, wii u pro controller feel bad in my opinion… way worse than the gamepad. Unlike the switch pro controller as Nintendo finally got it right, but still lacks of things such as the analog trigger…
