Cool AF! I wish GW promoted more kitbashy stuff like this again
At least Pete the Wargamer is a constant appearance on Warhammer community.
He sure does!
Yeah, remember the old days when White Dwatf actively encouraged you to kit bash, proxy and make your own terrain!
When I was a wee lad, I remember being so happy whenever my parents got a new tv/appliance as that meant polystyrene and polystyrene meant new hills to carve!
Wasn't promoted, but someone did a similar kit bash in the latest White Dwarf replacing the Warboss in the Combat Patrol with the same Megaboss Duncan used. It was less involved and painted as if he was an Ultramarine, as each of the units in the army had a spot colour connecting to a different Chapter.
Kitbashing makes sense for GW from a business perspective too as it encourages buying multiple kits.
Other orks: but boss, how did you turn red ?
Da 'ellboy: One day I found a very sharp stick and the stick spoke, now I follow the advice of the stick.
That's about what happened lol
Duncan was who I watched when I was learning to paint and he always showed that he made mistakes and it made me feel better about making mistakes and I liked that a lot Duncan is the best
Ahhh,,thanks for the wonderful comment. We are glad we could help you on your journey.
Its always comforting to know I'm not the only one who makes a mess of it sometimes!
Would love to see some Chaos Ork culty-boyz to go with him. Maybe in various levels of corruption, green skin turning red, small horns, that kind of thing
That has to be one of the most brilliant conversions I've ever seen. And you've outdone yourself and your painting of this wonderful miniature. I was thinking in the beginning that I would have used a different color pallet oh, but you were completely right the combination was absolutely perfect. A superb Project without a doubt. Kudos sir
Thank you so much 😀
I’m new to 40k, and I’m looking to do a Khorne inspired Ork army. This was a super cool inspiration, and I’d love to see more like it!
Thanks for keeping chaos orks alive Duncan.
A great "highlight" (imo) for that space marine helmet would have been some Rainbow Warriors stripes :D Just that extra splash of colour, and a nice nod to the part of history Geedubs has forgotten and let languish :) Fantastic work, Duncan!
Gotta say that the videos you guys are publishing are awesome and nice!
Not just the hobby content, but also the video quality, the intros, everything!
Much appreciated! Thank you
If I did orks this is the kinda thing I'd wanna do, these guys look great!
Go for it!
This was great Duncan, thank you. Very inspiring. I know I’m not alone in saying I’d love to see more of these projects if and when you feel like it. Keep up the great work mate!
Thank you! Will do!
I recently grabbed an old White Dwarf I never had (December 2006) and noticed the same kinds of kitbash articles you did. There was an article about an Australian Ork Kommando army that had a lot of green-stuff berets and the classic looted tanks, though I'm glad there's less metal models these days as a lot of the unpainted photos were Frankensteinian mis-mashes of metal, plastic and green. I've been collecting Leagues of Votann and lately I've considered kit-bashing some Ironbreakers/Irondrakes into Hearthkyn, probably need to do something about the chainmail though.
Turned out so epic! I want more conversions from you guys like this 🤘
Cracking job! The red and black really works with just enough brass to break things up. I love it!
I can’t believe how cool this turned out! More please!
You just know Khorne is PARTICULARLY pissed that the Orks weren't his idea, lol. ;)
Gorgeous! Great work on this!
Well done. Glad to see someone in 40 k kit bashing. I've never played or built any Warhammer anything. I've been building all kinds of plastic models in many scales for 40 years. I would like to kitbash a large Tau figure with some kind of tank armor plates, maybe a panzer gun barrel as an arm cannon. 1/72 scale might fit, you're only limited by your imagination and desire.
I love how this guy came out. Great Ork guy!
I really like the look of those Two Thin Coats purple paints - all three of them. They've got to be some of the most vivid purples I've seen.
I used a dark metalic like this when I painted "Black Ivan" for my Khador Army back in the day. I based my idea of the colour off of a Cast iron Frying pan andf it looked super awesome.
Looks absolutely beautiful!
Thanks. It was a blast to paint.
Amazing conversion and paintjob. Really inspiring!
I cant help but love the brass in the khornate theme! So amazing with huge pop of color! Can't wait to try it with some reddish tinted wash!
Amazing work! Love to see more conversions videos. I remember seeing old art of a Nurgle ork, would you consider doing that in the future? That would be so cool.
Wonderful how it came out.
Bravo, good sir!
Thanks
Nice! Lovely conversion and paint finish!
Turned out great!
Thanks for the video! Looks great!
Great video as always duncan! I was wondering if you would ever do a follow up on the armour of the dark gods video for slaves to darkness for things like capes or weapons for each god
This is looking [redacted] awesome.
Definitely THE best conversion of a mini I've ever seen.
And the paintjob really makes Da 'Ellboy stand out.
And l'd love to play against Da 'Ellboy's Waaagh! if I am ever in the UK.
He kinda looks like the chaos evolution of a Squig
Love this model thinking of truing to do a combat patrol in this scheme super cool thanks duncan
Go for it!
That was really cool such an awesome end product i also learned something nice with the metal that i want apply to my ironjawz thank you very much
Glad you liked it!
Looks fantastic!!!
That is bloody amazing! Keep up the excellent work :)
Thank you! Cheers!
9:50 the glistening gold looks just like his hair colour! Also great painting work as always :D
Sweet mini, awesome conversion. Love red skin Orks for both fantasy and sci fi, the colour just pops so well.
Couldn't help but feel the black armour felt a bit flat. Maybe another colour would have grabbed the eye more and highlighted those awesome details?
Splendid!
Great Work!
You’re bringing the Kenergy with that hair I love it
Well, well well I guess I know what my next army will be...
Damn you Duncan! Love the vid
Awesome job
Watched the conversion video first, glad to see how you painted him. I was wondering if you ever tried highlighting reds with Baylor brown? I've had good results using it on D&D figures. Loving the videos on your channel!
Hey Duncan, I love you're work. I thought it would be kinda cool if you made like a "3 Ways to Paint OSL" guide, with glazing, drybrushing, and layering. It would make an interesting and informative video. 😊
this is an amazing conversion, i've been curious about the 'red skins' since i first toyed with the idea of doing a word bearers army and it's too bad 'ellboys were written out. if i remember correctly the regular orks not only viewed them with suspicion and contempt but also mocked the 'ellboys because "green is best" and a detachment of 'ellboys would go nicely into a chaos army. you can almost picture them having a rivalry with the daemons of khorne with the orks constantly trying to 1up the biggest, baddest daemon while being back handed by a frustrated bloodthirster.
That looks so good. I wish these were a real faction in 40k. An army of these guys would be amazing!
Yessssssss. Mighty waaaaaagh for the skull throne!
That's awesome! I'd love to see a nurgle corrupted Ork that spawn nurglings instead of grots. To show that their very biology is corrupted by the Grandfather
Thanks for the video, so many great tips and techniques! I have a question regarding the spirit medium in your paint range, what purpose is it intended to serve? When and where should I be considering using it? Thank you so much!!🤯
Do this on some Ironjawz and Kruleboyz (mixed with chaos warrior & chosen bits), and you basically have the WoW Hellfire Orcs after drinking the blood of Mannoroth
Looks incredible. I see the Meta of mixing metallic paints with black is back.
If it ain't broke...
That's a better depiction of a Chaos Ork with the mark of Khorne. That's a real good result.
Being a fan of Hellboy and warhammer i love this
Top Duncan🔥🔥
Very cool
The Metallic Black Armour is really cool. Feel like chromium coat on vehicle with lot of scratch and battle worn.
Wish we got more chaos xeno in the lore
Fantastic conversion end paint I’ve just got one question is there a particular reason for the gray as primer ?
AMAZING 👏
Thank you! 😄
Cool!
Would love to see you paint some one page rules models!!
Looks great! Kinda wish he would have changed his water as much as his pallets though.
Excellent work as usual Duncan! A thought just occurred to me which might interest you, although it has nothing to do with this video. I saw the artwork on the cover of the new Spike Journal issue 16, it's a Blood Bowl vampire. It almost looked cel shaded. Have you ever tried to paint a model in a cel shaded fashion? I think that would be well worth a try!
This has been a wonderful journey to follow. It's not an elaborate original character kit bash, but I'm currently working on kit bashing a Brother Captain Stern using the new Leviathan Terminator as a basis.
I'm also turning a Warrior of the Dead into Kahmul the Easterling with some heavy greenstuff work, I'll also be making a couple of generic Ringwraiths too.
That sounds so cool
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA thank you!
WWWWWWAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! i love it!!🤯
I imagine the black legion being very confused as to why a random ork is running around with them yelling "Blood for da blood git"
Damn, what a beast! Anyway, time to introduce him to my Plasma thrower.
I think green skin going into red would've been cool.
Like red fingers and the area around the horns.
Also I am sure you guys have been asked this before, but what is the best place to order the Two Thin Coats paints? Would love to get my hands on them.
Of course. IF you go to this page here (www.duncanrhodes.com/paint_stockists/) it will give you a list of stockist around the world.
Hi Duncan, love your content! What do use use as a pallet when you are not using the wet pallet? It looks like a title? Just curious
It sure is. Just a simple bathroom tile.
That is really really good, i definitely going to have a go at that!! I think i prefer the aesthetic’s of the Chaos infected Orcs a lot more!!
A question for you tho… why are some Chaos khorn things in Black Armour and the others in Red Armour is there a reason or does it not matter which colour you paint them??
You know, I always thought about paint the Iron Hands in a metallic black to help look different to the Raven Guard. Still a bit on the fence about it though.
Nice
Awesome work👍 what was that intro song btw?
Do you have a video of how to paint those typical white gearlines on adeptus mechanicus red cloak, hood and jacket etc?
MAN HE LOOKS GOOD! But now he needs some boyz to accompany him!
Wow!!!...he looks like he should be the new mascot of flaming hot monster munch
That is just sick!!! I would like to see what you can do with a Tyranid bug that has been possessed by Nurgle or Tzeentch.
Ohhh fun idea right there
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA
I thought that you might like that. 😁
Time to make some Khorne Orks!!
Duncan starts to remind me of Roboute Guilliman more and more... this is what ancient wisdom of the dark future does to a man.
I would love to see Big D paint up actual Hellboy
Thank you , DRPA .
(Nice one ).
🐺 Loupis Canis .
Now DIS WUT WEEZ WANTZ TO SEEZ!! Dem Teefbreakerz iz gonna owz us after dis one bois!!!!!!
This is how it's done.
Hey Duncan I’m new to the hobby what brushes are best to get and also what should I get for a hobby table like do I need a magnifying lamp
Hey Dunc, just had a quick question. How do you tell the difference between youre acrylic and metallic brushes? On my cheap brushes, I usually paint the tip opposite from the bristles (khorne red for acrylic, leadbelcher for metallic), however I am thinking about investing in AO series s brushes and I just wanted to know how you tell the difference. Thanks! 🙃
A second coat of 'Ellboy video 😆
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Very nice, guys!
Thanks...oh, and WAAAAAAAAHHHHGGGHHHHH to you too
Could you convert a dark techpriest? or chaos gretchin!
YEEESSSS
One thing that would help would be if you explained why you do certain things... Such as, why do the black wash over the armour and then put the shine back on?
black wash for shadows and the illusion of depth; black silver again to make the armour shine again.
you could apply the wash only to joints and recesses, but that'd take you an insane amount of time.
Do you think having all of the trophy skulls and the helmet glowing the same color as the orks would have been a good compositional choice or just muddied up the look? Thematically I also think having the runes glow that same color could be very cool but clearly wouldn't work with the pallet of the sword... maybe if the eyes just glowed white.
How do you come up with colour schemes and paint mixtures?
Da 'Ellboy be the fastest warboss in da galaxy.
He red without paint. He is speed incarnate.
Da Flash!
Where can I watch the kitbash it self
TUSKA DAEMON-KILLA!!!!!
Do you have a tutorial fo that desert base?
Sure do over at the Academy (www.duncanrhodes.com) 😊
