My first choice is xp-pen artist 13.3 pro, but the difference in specs and size makes me going with the Xppen 15.6 pro instead. During my first weeks of using it, im glad that it actually pretty perfect for me, not too big or too small, never looking back for the smaller size. I bought it in mid 2021.
Wonderful Art and it once again shows it is the Artist not their tools that do the creating! I was kinda forced to go digital back in the 90's. Coming from traditional art background and working going into the computer age YOU HAD TO ADAPT! or just not work! I have recently found out that many print houses are asking for PDF files, no longer is the Photoshop file the standard it used to be! I had an old client call me and ask if I could convert her files to PDF so she could get them printed! When I told her the printer should accept her PS Files She said they did not want them they were only accepting PDF's now! So the standards are evolving again! Do not blink, they will change before you post your next video! No kidding . . . . a bit! Please keep creating this wonderful content, you are a joy to watch!
I really appreciate this, it's the first time I've seen someone review one of the less expensive brands and actually compare it to their use of a Wacom. I've been contemplating getting an XP-Pen tablet for a while now, but every review I could find was from people who had never used a Cintiq, so I wasn't sure how good they'd be in comparison. It's nice to hear that they are good quality after all.
Hi. You just described my situation: I didn’t like digital art, until I bought iPad pro. Actually I have had the same arguments as You: drawing on screen really reminds drawing on paper (in that way you can see what is going on under your hand with stylus).
Touching on your closing remarks about using what you have not being a hindrance - I'm a published professional having worked in digital illustration for more than 20 years and have won awards but am getting my first display tablet next week and I can't wait, if I built a successful career completely absent of display tablets (using Intuos and similar as well as drawing with a mouse!) I can't wait to see what I am going to be able to do now with one- very excited!
Oh my God you are such a good artist! Great review, but I couldn't even listen to it because I was so amazed on how good your drawing looked! Great video keep it up!
Honestly the only thing I wanted to see more of in this video was of you actually drawing on the screen, to show how the pen sensitivity actually is and works.
I've been using the 22e for a year now and I love it. The only issue I've had with it is that it won't be detected as a second display. I at first assumed it was my PC, but I've tried it on three different ones now and it never seems to be detected. So if anyone has any ideas how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it! As I've been trying to do so for a year. Other than that, this tablet is fantastic, especially for the price you can get it at!
I hope young artists (or older) will listen to your talk. Even as a traditional artist I have to agree wholeheartedly by all you've said! Amazing art as always was amazing to see it being drawn live on Twitch :D (Everyone come on and join!) BTW if you get eye-protection glasses then I recommend you to get ones with just a clear glass (if they are available) I have been using protection glasses for the longest time since my eyes don't like light when it's dark outside but mine are yellowy so when drawing everything appears just a nudge off in color. Just something to take into consideration, although I would want to recommend these glasses since they help so much every day
Seriously, I do not doubt that Wacom makes better quality when it come to material and software, BUT that doesn't mean that other brands are all shit. And this Aron dude made a false/not fair comparison between one XP Pen and a Wacom video, which like I already said, was totally fake. If you watch closely you can see how he puts the XP pen on a bad spot saying things which werent true. Like the XP Pen screen colors were off and what not, when you could see that the Wacom colors were worse and not accurate, but those of XP was. There were many things he did which I don't remember anymore, but it would be too long to write anyway. That being said, I don't watch any of his videos anymore because I can't trust him. Amen.
I own a Cintiq Pro 24 but I agree with your points in this video. My first tablet (at 12) was a cheap 8x6 Genius tablet, which I fell in love with despite being lower quality. 2 years after intense usage it broke down and I bough an intuous (all from personal savings) which I've used for 6 years and never let me down in quality. Getting a cintiq was smt I was sure of in the future but having it so soon was kinda random (tldr - got 2 jobs for the summer and had the money to spend) I felt like this was the tablet I would have for the next +10 years at least so I didn't mind spending as I generally only spend money/savings on tech. I really considered Huion and XP-Pen for a long time but at the end I wanted to be sure that what I was going to spend so much on was going to last for a looong time. I've probably watched every other alternative cintiq alternative out there and I def belive that they are offering a great quality for the money, it just depends on your personal needs and feelings. I get asked sometimes about tablet recommendations and I almost always point over to Huion/XP-Pen etc. I feel like you should never spend so much on tools that you have no experience with, you might not like it at all. Also I feel like the graphic tablets don't have too much diffrence in quality from brand to brand, I simply didn't have that much of a choice when buying my Intuous (or I hadn't heard as much good reviews of alternatives back then) But despite my choice with the cintiq I'm super happy Wacom is getting some competition and artists have much more choice, each year has been a nice suprise when it comes to digital art tools recently.
The Artist 22e pro has built in etched matt screen. Still happy with the glass screen? This one probably has better contrast and color since its glass and not matt.
The shades of blue in this are lovely, it does make you think of a sea environment. Also, I have the exact same speakers from Logitech lol. For how cheap they are they're great quality.
I have the same tablet for now 3-4 months and it's awesome! I really like it too, so thank you for your review, I hope it's going to help people :) Recently, I switched from Photoshop to Clip Studio Paint after 10 years married to Adobe, because I wanted to have the tradionnal feeling that I miss in PS, and yeah, Clip Studio paint is definitely great!
When you showed "W.i.t.c.h" I screamed!! Cuz ive never heard of anyone who has known about my fav comics/animation show from my childhood!! Okay continuing on with the video-
You are 100% on point with freelance. Just make your work suitable for your clients. But for beginner artists if you are super broke, pencil and paper it. Or download sketchbook or MediBang for your phone. They run on lower end phones quite well. And draw away with your finger. My phone is a sketchbook when I have an idea at some random place away from my iPad or cintiq. If you really want a drawing tablet, best bang for buck is either a Tab s6 lite or an entry level iPad with Apple Pencil. My issue with cheap tablets is that they still need to connect to a computer, and a $300 tablet will run circles around a $300 computer when it comes to drawing apps. And there are plenty of good free apps on both iOS and Android. Android even has Krita (I think there is waaay to many UI for it though). People just assume struggling students have a good computer, they can plug a cheap tablet to. And these days iPads are ubiquitous, so it’s better to just buy an Apple Pencil.
When I first got a screen tablet, I felt that my art skill improved a bit, but in the long run it's not a big improvement. Using a screenless tablet felt rather disconnecting and my hand-eye coordination leaves a lot to be desired.
I loved that you showed all process of setup and i loved your style. Very like my friend azuos. I love it. You got an fan. I do pixel art and found that i love much it. So today im searching for an xp pen or huion display for my work on art. Im making an rpg and i do all stuffs.
Beautiful work, and amazing process! I also really enjoyed your commentary as well! Im still kind of hesitant to experimenting with more third party brands after a bad experience with a Huion tablet, This XP-Pen tablet does seem pretty nice. Thanks for the review.
Hey I thought this was very insightful since I'm beginning to get into digital art and I would love love love to see a youtube video about your digital coloring process! thought I'd throw that suggestion, keep up the lovely work!
im new to your channel, this is my first video because i just ordered this product so i wanted to do some research on it but i saw your face and you are gorgeous. have a nice day
This is something that almost no one who does reviews, says. But you did, and I liked it. So basically to sum it up, it doesn't matter what Tablet or pencils you use, how much they cost and whatever. If you lack the basics and sucks at drawing, you will still suck. No matter what. I remember something like 16 year ago, I saw so many Anime fanarts on youtube which were drawn with Paint and a fucking mouse, and they were still awesome! So yeah, learn the standard traditional basic first, and practice a lot. Then maybe later you will be able to draw digitally, with a standard cheap no screen tablet, too. Amen.
Thank you for this Video and your opinions about Tabletts with Screens and without. I thought about getting one with screen but after this I'll stay with my Gaomon (without Screen) a little longer till I really get the hang of digital drawing (again after a long pause).
Great advice! Thanks. I´m a 3d begginer artist and my hand sometimes gets tired using the mouse. I have a cheap wacom intuos but I never got used to it, I want to buy this tablet and do my modelling in it but i´m not sure
The old cintiq cables were physically attached, so you probably couldnt have been going around looking for them...well with the exception of perhaps a dvi converter which was a detachable cable for the cintiq just in case the DVI didnt fit properly. Speaking of which I love those old cintiqs, still have one laying around. Its just a shame they got hot (not LED backlit) and were extremely heavy.
Love hearing your thoughts about this brand. I might be considering one in the future. I've always had wacom tablets, how do the cord connections on this one seem to be holding up? I adore my cintiq 13hd but it's main cord has a tendency to warp and bend on me, even if I never move it. The pull of the cord from the side of the tablet seems to bend the connection out of place and I've already had to replace that cord once in the two years I've had it. I may have to replace it again soon it seems because it's a bit spotty at times.

Wonderful art and very insightful video, thanks! I may finally get one based on your review. One year on, are you still happy with it? One thing I wonder is about the ergonomics of working with the keyboard placed in an awkward angle and at some distance, and probably partly occluded by the tablet. Doesn't that bring some discomfort?
I need help. I dont found any video about the pen problems. Mine has one and i can't configurate it. What i mean is that everytime the point touches the screen it just freaks out and paints even if the pen is not touching the tablet. Also when that happens it changes from pen to eraser and the buttons cant avoid it. I really need help i been without drawing for a month almost and i have work to do
Xp-Pen 22 pro is on sale right now and I was thinking about getting it, though I only have a laptop and this tablet doesn't have those key things, so I assume it requires a seperate keyboard? I have been feeling pretty confident lately about my drawing skills but then I start to feel like I shouldn't get it because I fear that I won't practise enough. 😅
Nice review. I am considering getting one of the XP-Pen tablets. How long did it take to get get it? I can´t find any resellers in Norway. Appreciate your feedback. Takk 🙂
@@DinaNorlund I believe they are talking about there are really only 3 LCD Screen makers in the world, So the source for screen tablets is very singular, most all come from the same manufacture it is the "guts" that separate the competitors.
Potentially dumb question... but do you need to get your own Photoshop subscription when purchasing one of these drawing tablets? Or does it come with Photoshop on it where you don't need to pay additional money for it?
i have one but its such a pain for mac users... my stylus keeps on disconecting, undetected and i have to download re download the software just to get it working...
the only thing that bugs me is that those pen displays don't have 1440p displays or even 4k it makes the experience a lot more pleasant in my opinion and a higher res screen makes the colors look more accurate
HELP!!! I just got my 22E pro, installed new drivers after completely updating my pc, but the tablet turns on and off repeatedly and the power light flickers red and green like a rave party. This even happens with hdmi and usb cables removed, only power cord attatched. I'm getting it replaced in a few days but does anyone have any advice? I desperately need this for work. Idk if it's a driver issue, faulty power cord, or if my wall outlets aren't strong enough.. Could it be fixed? I contacted customer service and they don't know. Just want answers before the next one goes down the same road...
Hi, quick question about the tablet itself. I got it too for already some months and in the corners of the tablet the tracking of the pen is awful, does anyone know what's up with this? I calibrated it several times but never fixed. Even with newest drivers.
Ikxi i think this just common thing for all tablets for example if you look at the wacom intuos > it has the black square you can draw “on” but the actual radius you can draw “in” is cut off by the small squares in the corners on the wacom tablets so basically the actual drawing surface size is slightly smaller. not sure why they do it but i think its to stop accidentally closing programs , but thats just my theory! if that makes sense!
My graphic tablet doesn't have a screen, it's a Huion one. I really like it, my problem is with my style and the fact I always fight with Krita to learn more about it xD (i can't pay for Photoshop lol)
Swapnanil Nag if you look at the pen on an angle on the screen its about half a cm off of the actual tip (you can calibrate it to slightly fix it) looking at it from straight down the pen its on point. however i find the VERY slight parallax helpful so you can slightly see where you’re drawing without blocking your lines/artwork hope that helps and makes sense!
Why am I the only one getting a defective one every time? I tried basically every brand and each of them had something working wrong, and it was bad enough to make it impossible to use...
I know this video is a bit different from what I usually do but I hope you still enjoy! Another vlog will go live on monday and next week will focus on Snow Cat prince

Nice review. I am considering getting one of the XP-Pen tablets. How long did it take to get get it? I can´t find any resellers in Norway. Appreciate your feedback. Takk 🙂
I was ordering my Artist 13.3 pro from official site to Czech republic and it came in 6 days.
I saw from your webpage that you don't use XP-Pen 22 anymore (but iPad Pro instead). May I ask why? Was there a problem later with XP-Pen?
probably 4 the procreate app
The pen is 8192 pressure sensitivity, but what about the monitor? is it 8192 or 5080 pressure sensitivity?
Are you into Barbucci and Canepa Works in Particolar?
xp-pen tablets is literally made by the same company that wakes wacom tablets so its all pretty much the same just one you're paying for the brand
Omg what? No way :o do you have any links? This would be really interesting to look into!
It doesn’t come with any art programs, you have to get those yourself.
which do you recommend xp pen 22 or huion 22
Please dina, make a tutorial for krita! I use this program from Month and you work like an angel🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
What settings do u use to calibrate the colour.., mind is not true to color at all😭
i have one but its such a pain for mac users... my stylus keeps on disconecting, undetected and i have to download re download the software just to get it working...
Which app is this
Anybody knows how to do shortcuts on this tablet with no buttons?
Im stuck between this and the XP-Pen 15.6. ;P Cant really find a "list of differences" Also. a pain finding places that ship to Norway :P
Same here, though I'm not in Norway. I love the idea of a big screen but the 15.6 has tilt on the pen.
@@queenofthepierats i went for this one ;P but good luck choosing!
THANK YOU SWEETHEART FOR A GOOD REVIEW. GOD BLESS. FROM SOUTHWEST UTAH, USA 😇
does the xp pen work well with PS at all?
i came for The X-pen but i am convinced now that Cintiq or Wacom is better and safer.
Does the pen have the eraser in it?
So, you have 3 screens for your work?
the only thing that bugs me is that those pen displays don't have 1440p displays or even 4k it makes the experience a lot more pleasant in my opinion and a higher res screen makes the colors look more accurate
So how was it did your new one work ok
Hi, quick question about the tablet itself. I got it too for already some months and in the corners of the tablet the tracking of the pen is awful, does anyone know what's up with this? I calibrated it several times but never fixed.
Even with newest drivers.
Ikxi i think this just common thing for all tablets for example if you look at the wacom intuos >
it has the black square you can draw “on” but the actual radius you can draw “in” is cut off by the small squares in the corners on the wacom tablets
so basically the actual drawing surface size is slightly smaller. not sure why they do it but i think its to stop accidentally closing programs , but thats just my theory!
if that makes sense!
@@Phayezorix Yea, I figured that out after some time.
Maybe it has to do something with the coils in the tablets or something similar
Could you do a Krita tutorial?
My graphic tablet doesn't have a screen, it's a Huion one. I really like it, my problem is with my style and the fact I always fight with Krita to learn more about it xD (i can't pay for Photoshop lol)
i love your intro
Cool😊
Yup! The art matters the most ...
But how's the parralax
Swapnanil Nag
if you look at the pen on an angle on the screen its about half a cm off of the actual tip (you can calibrate it to slightly fix it)
looking at it from straight down the pen its on point.
however i find the VERY slight parallax helpful so you can slightly see where you’re drawing without blocking your lines/artwork hope that helps and makes sense!
did anyone say anything about the spelling of the word professional? anyway, love your videos. okee boibuy!
Thank you! So weird my auto correct didn’t catch that... :/
Why am I the only one getting a defective one every time? I tried basically every brand and each of them had something working wrong, and it was bad enough to make it impossible to use...
Finally someone told the truth
I wish I was as good as you 😩
My mom is from Norway
Could you please design your versions of the evolutions for the new starter pokemon? #teamsobble
krita user in the wild :0
The companies need to broaden their outlook. They keep following the old business model for way too long.
