    Bought this one on sale for like $489! I was holding out on buying the 22E with the hopes that they were going to release a newer model. Lo and behold the 22R comes along and I knew I had to pick this one up.
    I will agree that driver installation is a bit difficult to set up because there are so many options and permissions you have to allow the software to access. But past that, this display has been working wonders for me. I've always wanted to work on a larger display coming from the original XP-Pen15.6 and man it is so nice!

    2:08 Oh yeah baby, glove dance! Now my soul is satisfied.
    Funny/sad thing is that I went from a Wacom Intuos 4 that I bought used from a friend, to a new XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro.
    I used the XP-Pen for maybe 2 month and they I swapped back to the Wacom and it was not a conscious decision, it just happen. It was just recently that I noticed it and I think that it was that the screen was to small and the resolution was not as high as I wanted.
    It is not a bad product but I wish I knew this about my self before i bought it.

    • @ennuiwolf
      @ennuiwolf 4 роки тому

      I doubt many people "downgrade" from Wacom. And I also find that the size tends to matter quite a lot. I've been drawing with a 15' drawing tablet for years and anything smaller or bigger implodes. So for now, any tech I buy is going to be around that size only

    • @MageThief
      @MageThief 4 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't mind one of those 24' (or larger) drawing screens as long as the resolution is higher than just 1080p. I have a good friend that have the new big 27' Wacom Cintiq and I can't stop try it out each time I'm at his place.

      Yeah,..I have learned that too. Everyone has their sweet spot when it comes to a comfortable working space. The goal here is to not go broke while trying to figure out what that spot is. I would love to try the app Procreate but a tiny 13" screen is NUTS in regards to the iPad. I have large hands and the lack of a decent sized bezel plus space needed for app GUI's would leave me with a stamp-sized working space. That's ridiculous for me! And NO,...I don't want to always have to keep zooming in and out. I think 32" sized Wacom's would also be the opposite; too large. I'm thinking 22-24" is where the balance is right for me. I have a 15" Notebook Pro and that still feels cramped.

      @@ennuiwolf I "downgraded" from Wacom. Have had MULTIPLE cintiqs. Iv hated them all. I bought an Xp pen artist 15.6 Pro. And Ive never lived a tablet more. I later bought an artist 12 pro. Both tablets are amazing.
      I was a snob who didn't take anything but Wacom and Photoshop. I changed my mindset after some business changed happened to both Wacom and Adobe. Now I use XP pen and Clipstudio and literally couldn't be happier.

    An interesting observation, when you stressed out that it's a pen display, and several times it is, I realized how people don't really pay attention. I sold my old Cintiq 21UX couple of weeks ago and I had several questions about what operation system does it run on and does it have pre installed apps... like, guys, you are looking for a drawing tablet, and you have a description of it in the offer and yet you STILL ask about that? @rin7836 4 роки тому

      @@01_zenyobi lol that's me, except i love digital art, whenever i get interested in something i do research for 2+ hours cause there's no way I'm spending my parent's money in something i don't know (I'm 11) and i still don't understand as to how people buy something without already having a basic understanding of the product.

    • @01_zenyobi
      @01_zenyobi 4 роки тому +2

      @@rin7836 I also love digital art and able to draw normal to average stuff (and also have enough Photoshop skill).. but I'm not that great at drawing (I can draw everything accurately from my view, except humans&animal, especially faces and hair).
      And about the question why people buy something without already having basic understanding of the product..
      It's because Many people just use their hunch feeling and thinks that That they could understand the product just by taking a look at it.
      Or thinking it's just like another product they have before (without knowing it's a different product).
      Or you can simply said it's just their ignorance.
      For example, I remember one review from Amazon (Of Huion drawing monitor, I forget which one)
      A mother complaining because the tablet need to be connected to monitor and it doesn't include drawing app for her daughter to draw. She says that it's a scam that she had to buy it separately. And she also said it worked than her old tablet (because she don't have to install/connect to computer)..
      What we can learn from here ?
      Is that She think that because she also bought a Tablet before, she thinks that this Huion "Tablet" would be just like her old one, but bigger and better (and cheaper than the High end tablet on the market like ipad air, ipad pro, etc.).
      But then she thinks it's a scam, because "why tablet this big still needs to be connected to computer",
      Especially when her old one were smaller and doesn't need to. Forgoting that big and accurate display that could be used with pen would be pricier than regular big monitor..
      We can see that she just bought what could be "cheap" and think with her hunch..
      and when she finally know that she buy something different from what she thought, she just assume its a scam instead of accepting that her hunch is wrong/acknowledge that she buy the wrong thing..
      Also that they have their own money, for something that's not that important/expensive (depends on the amount of Money they have)..

    • @01_zenyobi
      @01_zenyobi 4 роки тому

      @@rin7836 Anyway, for a kid like you
      A Tablet would be perfect..
      Ipad 7th gen + Apple pencil is the cheapest with best quality
      While the cheapest you can get is Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 with S pen.
      If you already have PC/Laptop, an display tablet would be good.
      The best Budget to performance ratio you can get is the Huion Kamvas 13 (non pro).
      It looks cool (nice body colour) and cheap with decent drawing screen and easy to set up.
      You can just connect it with USB C (if you have USB C thunderbolt/USB C Display)
      or just one Display adapter and 2 usb slot.
      No need for External power source like the one on this video.
      Or if you want the big size, you can get some old Huion Kamvas 20 (that still uses recharging pen, unlike nowadays Huion that already use non recharging pen. It's a good idea to save money for bigger screen, as it's still usable).
      If you plan to upgrade, there's Huion Kamvas pro 16 and XP Pen artist 15.6 pro (they're the same size).
      Or maybe the newest XP Pen Innovator 16, it has the coolest and anti-mainstream design..
      Honorable mention :
      - Huion Kamvas 12
      - XP Pen Artist 12 Pro
      - XP Pen Artist 13 Pro
      _________________________________________
      If you want to minimize budget,
      You can choose graphics tablet (known as Pentab aka pentablet)
      It's harder to learn (since you need to draw without looking into your hands but the screen).
      The cheapest with decent feature I can get is the Huion H640P and XP Pen G640S
      It's kind of easy to learn since they're not too small..
      Both had the same size of the Wacom small (some professional Artis use Wacom small).
      The best medium size tablet is Huion H1060P and XP Pen Deco Pro Small/medium.
      Avoid XP pen Deco 3, if you're want to save budget. Deco Pro Small is way better than that.
      Another honorable mention :
      - Huion H950P (I use this one, it was cheap in my country)
      - XP Pen Deco 01 V2 (must get the V2, the one without V2 have worse pen)
      - Huion Hs64 (alternative to H640P, there's yellow version that may appeal to some people)
      After one year of my research of tablets and stuff, that's all I can give to you..
      Don't forget to save some of your spending.
      Either to buy some program/advise, or to upgrade your hardware..
      I remember I was an reckless, and a dumb 11 year old back then...
      I would spent a lot of money to play in the gaming cafe..
      And of course I have spending, but I use it for game too..
      Then I realized, I spent too much..
      enough amount to get a whole PC or something worth..
      Especially at that time I was interested in tablets
      (Tablet for games,, I'm not smart enough to understand that if I learn to draw, I could use the skill professionally later.
      at that time, only Samsung tablet has Quad core processor, while the other only has double core or else and Ram for tablets were only about 512MB-1GB).
      And now, I don't want you to repeat my mistake (failing to balance game and learning skills).
      I give you the best Info I know...

    One way I would improve them is to decrease the display/bezel size
    A 20" feels like a 24" just bc of the express keys but also bc of the bezels
    There was to be enough bezel so that I can draw on the edges but the display could definitely be less frickin wide
    They could put express keys in the back, behind the bezels & display, have the other hand grip around the side to press them
    Obviously u can't see them but when I press the keys I don't look at them anyway, u learn which one is which

    Is Adobe RGB better than NTSC or are they both just similar? I have a Parblo Coast 22 and its a tad bit annoying whenever I'm reminded that the colors on that tablet look off when compared to another monitor or even my phone screen.
    Also, i don't see you mention color calibration much but whenever i Google other reviews there's so many ppl talking about getting or needing one of those Spyder calibrator things, what's your opinion on that topic?

      Adobe RGB, NTSC, sRGB, DCI, etc. are just different percentages of the visible color spectrum, Wikipedia has a good page explaining them if you'd like to look into them further. Also, if you are serious about art, you should definitely go for the Spyder to guarantee color accuracy.

    I almost missed the sale for this tablet! I would have to settle for imagining what my work would be like on a better screen if that $700 price tag was the take it or leave it price. Thankfully, I was able to get mine for $385. I kinda needed a new tablet anyway since my current one has been cursor hopping, screen tearing, it decalibrates at the edges constantly, and the pen connectivity registers clicks and gestures on its own without my input.

    They could go for a step inbetween Wacom Cintiq Pros and this for a competitive price. I see many of these tablets jump from full HD straight to "4K". Why not a QHD(2560x1440) bonded screen in the 16" to 22" range? I can only recall one screen tablet with this specific resolution and it's no longer made so it's another space just waiting to be filled. I wouldn't imagine it being quite as cheap as $700 but that would be an awesome price point to aim for. The only other way to improve and have the specs remain the same I see is with added accessories such as an adjustable stand which would be more likely. Things like that can really tip a consumer towards your product imo.

    With the price being what it is, would you recommend this over the 22e? Stock for this model, as well as price, are making it difficult to get a hold of, while the 22e is readily in stock on Amazon and is under $450. Would you say the differences between the E and R are enough to say wait for the r to restock and come down in price, or do you feel the 22e is of about equal quality? Asking because i need to upgrade my setup due to health reasons (larger tablet is easier on my arm/wrists, and the buttons let me use the tablet for shortcuts rather than a keyboard) and i'm not sure how long it will take to restock and or drop the price of the 22r. I'd be curious to find out what you think of the Gaomon PD2200. It looks like it has the same pressure levels, tilt, size and resolution as the XP-Pen along with a battery-free stylus but also has a 92%NTSC fully laminated IPS screen and sells for only $399 on Amazon. Unfortunately, it seems that there are nearly zero reviews for it. The only negative I've seen is the lack of physical express keys or a dial (instead it has 6 or 8 capacitive touch buttons along one side). So I'm wondering if it's worth the money or if I should get one of the tablet displays from Huion or XP-Pen instead.

    • @01_zenyobi
      @01_zenyobi 4 роки тому

      Well, I would reccomend iPad for begginers who want to draw or start doing animation...
      But if you already get into Windows, then a Drawing monitor would be faster for your workflow, since you don't need to transfer files between iPad to PC/laptop (because you did the whole thing in PC/laptop)...
      For the reccomend, it depends on your budget and your needs, also how much do you travel/do you work in home...
      My reccomendation is Huion Kamvas Pro 16 / XP Pen Artist 15.6 pro. Both of them would be big enough while you still can use Keyboard for Shortcuts. But both of them would need 17" laptop bag of you want to bring it along.
      And if you want a smaller one (for lighter weight), you may get Huion Kamvas pro 13/XP pen Artist 13.3 pro. Both can fit standard 15" laptop bag, so it has better size for some little traveling...
      But, if you travel a LOT, like going to cafe, parks, beach, waterfall, etc. preparing the laptop+setting up the drawing Monitor would be too much, since they're not that portable...
      It would be a legit reason to get iPad, since procreate now also support animation, and you can send those drawing to PC when you get home..

    • @01_zenyobi
      @01_zenyobi 4 роки тому

      Also,big you're going to 100% doing animation at home, a 20" drawing monitors like Huion Kamvas pro 20/21 and XP Pen Artist 22E pro/XP Pen Artist 22 R pro (the one in this video), would be a good idea, Even though you can't use keyboard shortcut because those large monitor mostly won't allow you to use keyboard (too far to reach if you put it on side, and impossible to put in the backside of the monitor. And it would be too big if you put keyboard in front of it).
      15-16 display tablet would be a good choice if you want to work at home, since it's big enough and the keyboard is Still easy to be reach...
      In case you went with 20-21 inch drawing monitors, you may be interested in buying small/mini keyboard since your usual keyboard would be too big to reach.

    • @ViktorsJournal
      @ViktorsJournal 4 роки тому

      @@01_zenyobi Actually you are wrong on this, this model's (xp-pen 22R pro) new stand allows you to put keyboard behind it (it's in a shape of ^) while keeping the tablet in a comfortable position (sure you can't put it in between stand the the screen if you go totally vertical mode but I doubt people draw like that anyway) - and I have a huge keyboard. Actually the previous 16pro stand makes it much more difficult to put keyboard behind it.
      Just an insight ;-).

    • @ViktorsJournal
      @ViktorsJournal 4 роки тому

      Ehm, I might be wrong but is adobe animate even available for ipad? I thought they never ported it.
      Considering you are having a laptop I'll separate it into 2 categories.
      If you want to be portable then the 2019 models from xp-pen or huion up to the size of 15.6" (included) are fine for you (the models of the same size year before are bigger so it's not as comfortable to use on the go) especially if you are on a budget - there's no reason to buy wacom at this range you just don't get any value for the cost.
      If you want to go larger screen which is less portable (obviously 20" or 22" screen is far from being portable it's huge ;-)) then I'd say huion and xp-pen have currently great options from both 2019 and 2018, wacom compare to the 2019 models of the other 2 companies offers better screen resolution here but the cost goes up quite a bit so this depends on you too, when it comes to drawing/paiting capabilities you don't have to worry about these 3 brands so it's more of a budget decision and if you think you need higher res - or you can wait a few months apparently huion will be introducing 2k 22" or 20" - search internet for this I just read other people talking about it and some photos. But with higher res screens you can expect higher price so if the current ones are already scratching your budget ceiling then just pick which ever you like and if possible whichever is currently on sale (both xp-pen and huion have sales quite often - winter, summer, plus some special events, plus pre-release huge sale).
      I hope this helps at least a bit.

    For those who want to see the parallax, I have the video on my channel. XP Pen sent me a firmware update to fix the cursor accuracy. Overall it's a great tablet for me. The parallax isn't really an issue, very small. One thing that I think all the tablets (including Cintiq) could benefit is less brush lag. It's very low, like microsseconds, but it's a bit annoying when you draw details. I think the only tablets without brush lag so far are the iPad Pros and Galaxy Tabs, but they're portable ones, of course.
