Lyrics: One Sweet World
Nine planets round the sun
Only one does the sun embrace
Upon this watered one
So much we take for granted
So let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother's arms
For here we can rest safely
If green should slip to grey
But our hearts still bloody be
And if mountains crumble away
And the river dry
Would it stop the stepping feet
Take all that we can get
When it's done
Nobody left to bury here
Nobody left to dig the holes
And here we can rest safely
One sweet world
Around a star is spinning
One sweet world
And in her breath I'm swimming
And here we will rest in peace
❤😢this...I was there. It is perhaps the most emotionally stirring opening for this song ever played.Always brings tears to my eyes..LeRoi ---- the heart of The Dave Mathews Band-- you are so very much loved and missed!❤
🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Mmmmm... would have loved to be there too. I never did get to see the band with LeRoi, sadly.
Thanks. For sharing that, and the ode to LeRoi.
This is by far the most heartfelt, beautiful, and soulful version of this song. Leroi was a genius and his interpretation of this intro is legendary.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is one of my very favorite performances because of our beloved LeRoi......😢
this will go down as one of the best live intros they ever played!!! It hits so deep!
Roi.... The sloppy, soulful sax that can never be duplicated. Miss you forever!
dmb will always be that band that i go to when shit isnt going right or when everything is going right. Thats the beauty about them. This intro is amazing, puts me in my happy zone haha
That opening, I gotta sit down. Beautiful.
No song can just detach me from reality and lose me in music quite like this one.
Beautiful saxophone music makes me cry
Sorry for your loss. Dave keeps her memory alive for you, his words and music touch us all in different ways. Yours is a heartbreaking moment for sure! Hope you find peace in his music. ♥
Gabby expressed my thoughts as well as they can be expressed. I can only add that music connects us in powerful but unfathomable ways, brings peace to our memories when little else can. Yes, may Dave's music bring you beautiful memories and peace.
I love the different sax part after I the intro.just gave me goosebumps again. Rip, LeRoi.
This 6 cd set of all three shows has stayed with me all these years (still got it in my glove in my car). This song in particular with the “old intro” and the amazing Halloween w Carter solo are, for me, the pinnacle of DMB.
This song is just so great. So great is this song. 9Jan today, Dave's Bday.... LoVE!
makes me miss Roi. Great version
Simply beautiful edition of the Instrumental Intro
It also appears on their first album, "Remember Two Things," released in 1993. But that's also a live recording.
It's also distributed on several other Live albums as well, including The Lost Acoustics with Tim Reynolds.
This is my go to OSW!
My daughter was killed 21/2 years ago at the age of 25 but boy did she love David!!!!!!!!
I miss Roi so much.
had to buy the full set to get this back in in the day. yellow disc
i love how people dig music man.
Thank u darlin
Thank u so much--she made me a cd of dave live before she died but it wouldnt work :)
U had a song I like on there so I add to my playlist also
beautiful
Carry me away LeRoi
But this version....not released/published anywhere? Doesn't seem to be. Such a shame....one of their very best. Roi is sorely missed.
Your comment is everything that is right in this world
Thumbs up if the intro made your head rest on your left arm with your mouth opened ever so slightly...
#AnthemSong
Is he going to change "9 planets around the sun" to "8 planets around the sun"?
It depends if he's counting Pluto or not
Saxiest intro ever.
Is this not on an album anywhere?
Live at Luther College...is similar
