The combat system actually smooths out the random factor. If you need 4+ to hit and roll four 3's, you miss on all four. Here, you still get two points. Pretty much any game if one player rolls 6s and the other player rolls 1s is going to end up bad for the one player.
Just played it with my game group last night. I didn't really find it to be that much fun, I was kind of bored. I ended up winning the game, but it just didn't give me a rush. I played Lords of Waterdeep next for the first time and that game was a blast!!! I do have Sid Meier's Civ, but have yet to play it.
The mechanic of dividing the roll by five was already used in Mare Nostrum, so I don't conceive it as new. Other than that, I really enjoy Miami Dice and it was refreshing to have three people opinions on the game.
Anyone put off buying the game should know that many of their criticisms are flat out WRONG. Not "I disagree with them" but "They played the game with the wrong expectations". Emil Juul Jacobsen I know this comment is old, and I can’t tell if it’s ironic, but the Miami dice series is out of 2 “thumbs” up, or whatever they choose to replace the word thumbs with. So 1 and a half is a very good score on this show. I guess they should make it clear in every episode for people who haven’t watched since the start.
Oh man, this game is wayyy more "Civilization V" than the actual board game "Sid Meiers Civilization" was. Can they get sued for this? I almost can't tell a difference between it and the rules of the PC Game...
Elliot Amos Keep in mind that Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game was being developed at the same time as Civ V, and the board game was being based on Civ IV, not V, since that is what was established.
I think it's sad that you "reviewed" this after what sounded like one play. I've been looking forward to your review and I don't feel this helped me much.
Zee says The miniatures feels like Age of Mythology ? I guess he did not open to look at the miniatures for Age of Mythology the board game because there are excellent quality. No flash and none are bent. Please Zee get your facts straight before talking. Too bad Sam is no longer part of the team. It's not the same without him
These three guys have the greatest chemistry ever ;D
This sounds more like the video game Ages of Empires: discovering maps, technology trees, etc. Nice review, guys.
We need more Miami Dice episodes. This one was great. :)
The chemistry with the three of you actually works a lot better than just the two :)
Great addition with Zee. This was like your "fun beard day" edition! :)
The great return of Miami Dice! It has been too long!
Very good, thorough review with a mixture of viewpoints. Well done, gents.

Sam is always our favourite. down to the point !
Cheers
This is an amazing game specially if you add the expansion.
This is my 2015 surprise

Great videos with you three!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. For game like this that sounds decently complex, I think reviewing upon one review robs it of a true review.

Zee, Sam, and Tom = Awesome!
Great review
Man I just love Zee.
I like how the game simulates the Civ 5 fog of war.
How would you Rate and Compare this game, Clash of Culture with the Expansion V.S. Through the Ages, a New story of Civilization??
You should do more reviews together!
It's Larry, Curly, and Moe!
what is this song?
Zee needs his card in the intro. And a dice on the boat. With a beard:)
It's 1 and 1 half out of 2. They're thumbs.
Good job guys. ;)
The expansion has elephant pieces and different starting civs.
damn that is a lot of cubes...
Let the Zee invasion commence and continue!! He's THE BOMB :D
ITS WATER NOT WURTER. Just kidding Tom, game looks good.
picture from cover requires expansion
one and a half non existing elephant .... really the best scoring system :) so i give a two and a half non existing elephants up
Its board version of Civilization
Looks like civilization new dawn
I give this video two obtuse scoring systems up.
This game looks amazing
+trickykid3000 Your mom looks amazing.
That's not what "area control" means. :)
I dont understand how you can like it and give it 1 and 1½ out of 10, did I miss something?

The dude in the right is depressing... Always. Lighten up dude :)

This game is only good for its excellent miniatures, which makes it a bad game
