Would love to see these older popular games get re-reviewed. Some stay classics while others just cool on you

Or re-released. In my country you cant buy it but second-handed, but all of them wants to sell you for double of its value.

Fantastic game. But SO frustrating too! I've lost a few rounds where everybody got paranoid and started accusing each other. Turned out there was no traiter at all, and we would have won if we had just kept fighting the good fight instead of panicking. :P

Great game, I would recommend it over BSG as many players I played BSG with and did not follow the show did not get the theme so much. With this game the theme is there; tension is always there.
Merlin's company (the expansion) does add a lot to the game if you have grown bored of this oldie.

I have a question about quest. When the two knights are on the same quest and for some reason, one of the knights can't play any action that refers to that quest (other players can play and want to stay), can he go to Camelot without penalty or you must move all white cards and all players go back to Camelot? :)

Can you lay down more than one fight card on a fight quest in one round? Or one only per turn?

    • @mejercit
      @mejercit 9 років тому +1

+Trevor Gunter Only one per turn, unless you are willing to sacrifice a life point for a second turn.

This game is awesome, but I don't seem to find it anywhere. It is at 99$ on Amazon holy hell...
I recommend you go and watch Will Weaton's Tabletop episode for this game, you'll see how awesome it is!

Akin to what we said in the video, thinking that this game is formulaic is very close to the height of arrogancy...;) Tom and I both thought that at one point, but a few game sessions later, we had been proved VERY wrong.

I own and play BSG a ton so I'm going to stick with it, but I do respect this game and would get it if BSG didn't exist. Great review.

I love both this and BSG, but BSG will always edge it out cause there is just less downtime in BSG. You feel like you have nothing to but wait when it isn't your turn in Shadows, at least in BSG you still have reasons to stay interested.

This is a fun game, I enjoyed it, I wasn't the traitor though so I don't know about that part of the game.

Only if "so much" is a cooperative game with a traitor element as far as I can see.

A bit funny that this was also chosen as a video they don't want to play with noobs.

Anyone into the Arthurian theme should definitely go check out Camelot Unchained by Mark Jacobs creator of Dark Age of Camelot over on Kickstarter. A re-make of the best MMORPG ever made, it's gonna be awesomeeeee!!!

I've got BSG, it fills a similar niche in my collection. I'd play SoC if someone busted it out and offered to play, but between Pandemic, Forbidden Island, and BSG, I don't have a burning desire to play SoC. Then again, the theme isn't my favorite though... maybe if it were set in space, like Twilight Imperium x'D

My complaint with this game is that it's a little too easy to win. I've played 4 or 5 times, and every time has been an easy victory for the knights (the good guys). Perhaps with some rule changes, it would even things out more.

  • @40Kfrog

Tom neglects to mention that you are NOT allowed to tell other players what cards you have. Sure you won't.
So you see, Shadows Over Camelot is NOT fun if you are the traitor... and King Arthur. If you haven't played, King Arthur gets to trade cards, so everyone is constantly giving you cards they expect other players to get. Traitor it up, and they'll always know and you get to spend the rest of the game having everyone else dogpile you. In fact, that's how being the traitor goes EVERY time.

We played this game a lot until it got to the point where it grew formulaic... we knew just how to beat the game... so I think that the replayability is a bit lacking on it... now it just sits on the shelf.

Mmm, I have to disagree. I traded this one pretty quick. Pretty blah for me. Betrayal at House on the Hill is better, imo.

I hate the 'no telling' rule, and I refuse to play with the traitor.
I don't like co-ops which tamper with the co-op game play.
