Echoes of Kurosawa here. Cimino might not have been the most pleasant man as a person, but he sure was one great poet of world cinema. What a masterpiece!

The feel-good movie of 1980. Yeah, an all-time classic worth forgetting and never remembering.

This movie is reminiscent of "The Deer Hunter " in many ways,,...cinematography, musical score, the festive scenes. the big difference is that the story-line is so convoluted and becomes overshadowed by the movie's own grandiose posturing.
