Yeah! Cimino knew how to shoot a great battle scene. This is a revelation to watch not only from a directorial stand point, but also from the amount of special effects used for body shots, explosions and stunt work. And they said Cimino was a hack director. Kiss my arse!
They aren’t effects babes 💀
What the heck is going on?! I don't think storming the beaches of Normandy was half this intense.
Hands down THE best western film ever! Thank you a bunch for posting this gem!
This whole sequence feels so realistically chaotic that I'm frankly amazed nobody died
Besides from the horses that is. There were a few horses that DEFINITELY fucking died during the filming
Again, my thanks for posting this scene.
for all this movie's faults, i really love the visuals in this scene. the homemade rolling log barricades and the brutal action
I saw the guy who gets his legs crushed play Puck in the Royal Shakespeare Company's MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM in 1986...
6:35-6:36 The blast actually killed the horse that flew up in the air. There was so much animal cruelty on this film, it wasn't even funny.
Im with u I am a strong believer in Cruelty and think it should stop.
I had to unfortunately re-look at that shot when seeing it the first time. Cimino should of been jailed and heavily fined for causing unnecessary suffering to them poor horses
@@naomis.6412 this movie came out decades ago so... I don't think we should worry about it anymore
Sometimes in the creation of art there are some casualties. Look at todays cinema though, it’s not art it’s commerce and bad commerce at that. This is real artistry.
@@richardstevens8839no movie should put any living thing at this much risk. No excuse it is just a movie either find a better way or don't do it.
2:47 dourif renegade 6:29 good bye mr dourif
Thanks that's why I came here to find where the horse got blown up I never saw it before that's some cool shit realistic
@HammyofDoom You obviously don't understand the sheer difficulty (and as such, talent) it takes to capture something like this
"an orgy of violence"
sounds like America
Very true. Watching this clip gave me PTSD flashbacks of going to high school.
Isabelle Huppert! Delicious!
What the heck is going on!
6:35
That's a good movie I like the movie It's real sexy
ES LA VEHEMENCIA,
INGENUIDAD E INOCENCIA DE LAS GENTES, SU ENTREGA Y SACRIFICIO, FINALMENTE INÚTIL.
This movie is a horrible representation of animals. They abused these horses and I feel it is wrong. I am a strong believer in saving animals from cruelty. Im starting to find way to help these poor animals. Its a tragic thing and animals should not be treated that way. 🚫
Things were very different back then.
Right, everyone whose mad about the animal torture isn't mad because they hurt actual animals, it's because they can't really "create". 🙄
Don't forget that it's a movie.
"Wretched excess" comes to mind when watching this movie. This battle scene is interminable and badly shot to boot.
A good documentary on what happens when you give a blank check to an arrogant, narcissistic would-be
"artist".
@ColdBishop This isn't a display of talent - as a battle scene, it's unremittingly awful. The strategy is nonsensical, the action is anaemic, the drama is non-existent. Attempts to ham it up with 'tragedy', as when the man with crushed legs is shot towards the end, fall flat for being delivered with no moment or personality whatsoever. And if they're going to obscure the entire screen in smoke half of the time, what is the point in me watching it? Battles tend to be emotional - this has none.
Fuck me you fancy yourself. Loved every moment of that. Visceral, pointless and deranged. Did you want an intermission with a fucking usherette to top up your popcorn? Bet you call yourself a fucking 'cineaste'. Prick!
Jesus ive seen more action in a looney toons cartoons 😂😂
lol
6:33 is hilarious. I'm watching that death over and over just for laughs.
This movie is pretentious shit, but nevertheless unintended comedy gold.
6:49 is pretty good too. lmao
@sternenkind Why Ike, whatever do you mean?
Shame on you
I dont get the hate this movie receives, besides hhe animal cruelty claims, this is such a good movie. Critics can't create so they just spit venom
These are all cartoon gun sound effects found in many Looney Tunes. Terrible and distracting.
