I have a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5L V6 and its throwing code P0016, P0018, P0019, P0300, P0304, P0306. The car starts fine, drives fine, but engine running rough at idle. I took it to the dealership and they simply said "Timing off". I pulled the valve covers (the inside of the engine is very clean. No carbon build up, clean oil and everything) and checked the timing is 100% correct. I checked the VVT solenoids and visually they look fine. They all click as well when I feed 12V into them. Every shop I go to they give me a different answer. But Hyundai said I need to replace ALL VVT assembly, ALL camshafts, both the timing chain, and both the tensioner. Visually inspecting inside the engine, there are NO visible damage to either the timing chains, VVT solenoids, and the camshafts. They gave me a bill of parts close to $5,000 and told me I'm better off getting a new engine instead. The car only has 130,000km (80,778 miles). I also hear a slight short rattle noise that can be heard with the engine one every 3 seconds or so by the timing chain area. Every other shop tells me to change the engine without even looking at the car. ONLY by the codes. This is driving me insane. I really don't know what to do. The engine looks nearly brand new inside. WHY ME?????
2015 kia sedona 3.3 ran low on oil. Put in dealer filter and oil p0018. Tested vvt working. Found broken cam guide in bank 2. Replaced cam guide. All cams are perfectly timed with the crankshaft except for thr intake cam bank 2. It's roughly -5 degrees. Car continously goes into limp mode. I'm completely lost and considering replacing the engine.
Great video Peter I’m having this issue right now and still can’t figure it out, throwing a p0018 code and a random misfire plus misfire in 2/4/6. Replaced spark plugs, VVT solenoids , timing chain, tensioner, crankshaft and both camshafts sensors and still same code, help please
Did you by chance replace the VVT sprockets as well? Some people say that you have to recalibrate the crank position sensor to the ECU, and possibly the cam position sensor. But I don’t know about the cam sensor.
My 2010 Santa fe v6 3.5l is showing P0014. The code clears on its own after a few days but re-appears after about an hour of driving. No driving issues or engine noise. The vehicle had 120,000 km on it. I have done an oil change (5W-20 full synthetic) recently but didn't help. Any suggestions?
