My aquarium is a little under 54gallons. I run a biomaster 600. Would you recommend a 2nd canister? Bioload is pretty low. Only hc Cuba and pogostemon helferi. Thanks!

Been using the 600 thermo for 2 years and they are an awesome filter. Regarding the pre-filter sponges and comments about them clogging too easily I personally have never had an issue as I clean mine every week along with the water change which is the the whole point of the pre filter unit imo. I've cleaned my main canister once in the last 2 years and even then it wasn't that dirty at all.
George - greetings again from USA. I have to tell you. I took a gamble 1.5 years ago and bought a biomaster 350 on your word and I LOVE IT. Best canister filter I have ever had. I have had fluval, marineland, had them all. The prefilter is a GAME changer for sure. I cannot stand taking them apart and cleaning them takes maybe 5 minutes. Thanks so much. The flow rate never diminishes even when its dirty. I am so impressed. I really appreciate every video you do, thanks mate!!!!!

George, will the 850 provide adequate filtration for a 400 litre tank with Discus with a flow rate of 1500l/hr? Also is the 400W heater going to be sufficient to attain the temperatures required by Discus in a 400 litre tank?
I bought a bio master thermo after seeing your past videos (and some from Pecktec) - really love how easy it is to live with, and would not go back to any other canister now. I clean the pre filter with the weekly water change, and after 6 months I opened it up for a full clean and it did not need it at all!
I absolutely love my 600 thermo. Customer service can't be beat which is good because I don't live anywhere near any official retailers. I absolutely agree with them being a game changer and an industry leader. I think their next step should be honest branding. Like you mentioned the maximum aquarium size is always a very ambitious estimate. I can not complain one bit though. Glad they are continuing to expand their line!
Good news if you have a larger aquarium.
I have had a 600 Thermo for over a year now on a 250l aquarium and it's great. As you say, the pre-filter saves too much opening of the main canister. When it was new I started checking the canister after a month, but am now up to 4 months with very little that the pre-filter doesn't pick up.
I've had two 250's and currently still running one. I do like them and think they are a good quality but have always had one issue with them. It's the steel impeller shaft. All the ceramic ones I've ever had have always been quieter and some how just sound more smooth. Don't know why, but when it's in you living room and vibrating in a cabinet really seems to make a difference
just bought the Biomaster thermo 600 for my new Jewel Vision 180ltr. This is my first 'large' aquarium and want to stock it with Mbuna Malawi cichlids so having a good filter was my main priority. Never thought about Oase filters when doing my original wish list. Arguably the best filter imo. Such a vast space for bio media was exactly what i needed.
I love my biomaster thermo 600 but I see 2 issues with this.
1. The extra height of the canister will limit what tanks you can effectively use it in. Taking the pre filter out of my 600 in my fluval cabinet was such a ball ache due to restricted height, I ended up buying an APS filter booster and use that as my pre filter instead. This way every tray and the pre filter tube is full of Seachem matrix.
2. The flow rate. The flow rate on the 600 is pants. Ive got an eheim 350T running on the same tank and the difference between the 2 is quite noticeable. I dont think this bigger Oase would have enough grunt to run as a standalone filter on a 400 litre tank with some of the bigger fish in the hobby.
Im guessing this sounds like im knocking the filter , im not , I love mine and if it broke would buy another in a heartbeat. Id just like to see if there was a way they could reduce the length of the pre filter tube and increase the flow rate.
I love my 600 Thermo. The pre-filter was a game changer, easy maintenance. I hope they have replaced the K1 plastic media (needs to be a moving bed for this stuff to work) with some proper ceramic media instead. That’s the only negative I have on these filters, everything else is spot on 👍

George - I bought a 350 without heater. Question - can I use any heater or do I need to put in an Oase branded heater?
Totally agree, pulling a canister apart for cleaning is such a pain.
I've used various pre-filters on my small eheim canisters, but they weren't overly effective.
I took a canister filter off a tank this past weekend because I was not happy with the performance.

Would the OASE Filter Head for BioMaster 850 fit on a BioMaster 600 bucket? Love the power but might just be a little tall for me.
You would think so given the footprint isn't any bigger.
@@captainwin6333 Footprint of the series is the same. Nonetheless there are different fits on the filter heads. So beter test it. Oase doesn't list this option.

I am in the near future buying a Oase 300L Where I am getting it from has 2 options for the lighting.
1. Premium LED (full spectrum).
2. Classic LED.
There is a pretty large difference in price.
I am hoping to establish a forest type of environment, so lighting will be important?
What is your recommendation for lighting?

How does it get so much air inside? I shake it, tilt it. Still air bubbles comes out even after three weeks running. This is my he last week I have to decide to keep or to return. Had multiple canister filters and did have this problem. I cut all the hoses clean, there’s no air entering there.
I used to think these were overpriced and "not worth it" when you compare it to the FX6 but I bought one and I love it! The removable pre filter is a game changer along with the internal heater.
They cost a little bit more than some other filters but you definitely get what you pay for. The ease of maintenance is worth it especially when you have multiple aquariums.
The Biomaster is an excellent filter. My only issue with it is the flowrate is not strong enough for the tank size or water volume that it is rated for. A good example is this Biomaster 850 which is rated for 850L but the flowrate of 1550L/hr is clearly not enough to properly circulate water around a tank that is holding that amount of water. Looking at the size of this filter, i would conclude that this filter probably has the media capacity (how much biomedia it can hold) to handle an aquarium the size of up to 850L, which is meaningless to me cos there's no point having a media capacity that can handle that amount of water/bioload when the pump/circulation doesn't properly remove detritus from the tank. While having an additional filter for redundancy or additional filtration purposes sounds like a good idea, i feel it's a waste of money which could otherwise have gone into buying fishes or other equipments. Why have 2 filters when you just need one to do the job?
I hope you (as brand ambassador) can highlight to them the points i brought up so that they can make further improvements on their products and thereby benefit the whole community.

hey there! did you use any additional layers/ mats under between the aquarium and the stand or is there no need for this type of protection? I currently have a moderately hard rubber mat under another aquarium so that if there is a slight wobbling of the aquarium it's weight is supported. Cheers.

Hey George, Wondering if you knew why my filter the one shown in the video (850 thermo) keeps spewing out air through the lily pipe? I have inline co2 connected from co2art along with their regular and have everything at pressure to what they are saying to do. I've checked my hoses and nothing is leaking and seem to be all put together correctly. No matter what I do I can't seem to figure out why air is constantly being release.

Which pre filter sponges come as standard? Is the media in the trays the same as the 600?
People have been complaning about the noise . Any problems with yours ? I want to get one but too much noise could be problematic
No problems for me. It seems if the media is changed or the pre filter isn’t maintained regularly this can lead to issues. The hum of the pump is minimal especially if inside a cabinet and using the supplied rubber feet to reduce vibration

Can you advise roughly how much seachem matrix i can add into a Oase biomaster 350. I do not want to overstock on seachem matrix more than necessary, so is 1L good enough to fill?

They are bad for clogging George..but i totally agree..they get clogged when doing their job well. Watch the flow and you know it needs a clean..Eheim have done the same...many years pre this one...regardless, thanks George...all best..
hi , is this filter better then fluval filter 406? for 180L tank with two Blood-red Parrot Cichlid
The water is first sucked up thru the trays, according to the animation in Oase's website.
Thus, the pre-filter should be coarse(blue) and then the filter media should be coarse(blue), medium(orange) and then black(fine).
Unfortunately, the marketing guys with Oase got the order of sponge media wrong in their video too and don't even sell black sponges for the trays, so we've got to cut them ourselves.
I'm stunned no one else seems to have caught this oversight that seems obvious to me.
Do we have an approximate cost for this unit at all?
The pre-filter is a great idea, but for this size you need a lot of headroom if you want to take the pre-filter out. Can't see how this would work under the aquarium.
Tilt the entire forward and it clears the cabinet door. Just be sure to remove it slowly to give time for water to settle around it, and when putting it back in, again take a few seconds for the water to flow around it.

I too would scream from the hills about Oase filters, I upgraded from the filtosmart thermo - best thing I ever did, I have the 350 and the 600. Is it just 1 additional tray inside like the steps between the rest of the series?

Please I have some issue with Oase Biomaster 600. I have it for a month and it is still full of bubbles inside filter. Do you know what I have to do, please help. I have everything on filter originil. And net is full of problems with bubbles and one have any clue.
Some of the smaller internal filters and small external filters look like filters made for ZooMed in the United States. I wonder if they made filters for ZooMed before they started selling their own aquarium filters?

I have been considering this filter recently but have noticed 2 sizeable problems with it.
The first is that it claims to only do 1550 litres per hour but also claims that it is suited to aquariums up to 850 litres. This would only provide 2 times turnover and even then it’s often suggested that the manufacturers stated turnover should be halved when taken into account that the filter will be full of media.
The second issue is that the largest heater is only 400 watts so it will only heat an aquarium of 400 litres not 850 litres as suggested.
So turnover wise it is likely only good for aquariums under 100 litres and the heater is only good for 400 litres max.
This seems poor for such a large filter and way behind its competitors
I'm always puzzled that the filter media is not much of a topic in your videos. Volume & flow of filter is great. But what about biologically active surface??? Other factors that measurably lead to better & stable water quality?
A small filter with fantastic media could beat a large filter with bad media?
Is the best seachem matrix? Greenaqua seems convinced. Whats the best area per volume? Any other measurements on performance, what offers the most reliable nitrogen cycle?

I'd go to about 400litres with one of those if the aquarium is normally stocked. If you have big, messy fish it might require another filter too.
few Days ago i get the new Eheim 5e 700 wifi version :) and now they get out the new Oase ..too late...But i like better the eheim because it change 10-35 watt and works good and silent ..and now works with Wifi! and it was 340 Euros in the shoop
George you been lucky to get this donation but it should have been out two month ago and i would have bought two for my 500ltrs aquarium as the only one available was the 600
On their website they have a UK series (GB) and this bad boy isn't included in that. The UK one's only go up to the 600. Are they intending on bringing this one to the UK too?

It is really irritating that i can not get replacement parts for my Biomaster 600. I run three of these and one has been down for two months. I don't think i would buy another Oase product if they don't keep any inventory on wearable items like impellers. Customer service has been awesome and I love the filter but if its not running I have to go with another product.
