I found out bec I got an angry message on fb that I owed some guy money. I felt so bad for him but he knows now. I work in a store where we sell gift cards. An older man came in and asked to buy some gift cards and proudly showed me pictures of his young girlfriend in the military whom he was buying them for. I swear they were images from one of these profiles, might have been the same woman's image. I tried to gently warn him but he wasn't hearing it. We get older ladies do this too. We warn everybody.

Like he comes to them, is super disrespectful about still sending the money and like arguing with them about it, can't put his phone down and pay attention, just is irritating. Every Wednesday is a new person completely ruining their own life for a catfish. It's sad and heartbreaking to watch most of these people get über duped by scammers but the mentality of most is the same: not living in reality, not believing anyone who tells them they're being scammed, bankrupting themselves, etc. Red flags will be furiously waving in their faces and they just smile and keep sending large quantities of money.
This guy in particular is so blinded by his "fiance" that he's asking the guys why he can't send more money to this blatant catfish and asking how it is going to hurt him. Dude is either completely clueless or willfully ignorant . Either way, he's going to be not only wildly disappointed but probably completely broke.
It's a shame.

Depend for the delusional fantasy and you’re paying for the phone sex they’re having with a scammer. Some of these people are spending the money that was meant for their children or grandchildren. They losing their homes that they could have passed on to their children instead they sell their home and give the proceeds to the scammers.
If they want to pay for a fantasy, it's cheaper to just go to a strip club. Or pay a cam girl. At least the women will actually talk and flirt with them in person or on live video chat and dance for him in exchange for his money.
