They are coached into being addicted to hope. But the initial curiosity from the victim is the clincher, they get so overwhelmed when someone very attractive wants to offer attention their way. That's the net that scoops them up. Usually a product of loneliness. It's so sad how they puppeteer lonely people.
Lonely or being too picky? I've known men who will not date just anyone. She has to be a model while he plays games all day long and looks like he hasn't bathed in days. And they are repeating themselves endlessly . Same thing in repeating sequences , so not brain surgery . Texting blah blah blah a thousand times a day .
We really need a Dating 101, PSA for some of these people. Lesson 1: If a man/woman you just met starts telling you about all their issues constantly and asks you for money to fix them, you wish them well, and stop talking to them. You do not make other people’s problems your own. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU’VE NEVER MET THEM! 🙄
I don't think it is lack of education for the most part it is lonely people seeking attention they don't get in the real world. The victims of these scammers are buying into a fantasy and partially know it.
Mary and anyone else out there in this type of relationship. Tell the guy your being audited by the I.R,S. and you may owe them $30,000.00 and then ask him for a loan. See how fast his calls stop.
That could backfire if they send you money from the bank account of another victim. Scammers do shit like that all the time to look more legit. Then you'll be involved in a money laundering scheme.
Repeat after me: "A guy who I have never met is not my boyfriend. I am not in a romantic relationship. I solely have an online correspondence with a stranger who's pretending he's someone else in order to take my money."

it could be a real video from the account the scammer stole which is why they did not put on audio ; and this is exactly the reason why to make all private pictures and videos private or available only to people you know on social media
I just imagine some of these scammers sitting in a room with their fellow scammers somewhere in Lagos laughing it up as they are sending emojis and whether or not their queen slept or ate while telling the others how this crap is actually working.
The day before they expose the scammer, I wish once they send them a picture of the victim holding a huge check like they just won the lottery. Or a picture of a huge stack of cash. Just to make them think they lost out big time.

@@samanthamcdonagh7856 it’s both. You have to be lonely to think someone you never met cares about you, you have to be Starved of human interaction to think this way. Shallowness, because she’s ignoring all the red flags because she thinks he looks good despite her better judgement.
@@ericrivera8410 you can’t say what she’s looking for. She probably would love a Walmart employee if they treated her right and was what she wanted. You missed the part where she was in long term relationships.
The reality is she is probably a decent, loving and trusting woman and she seemed to have been quite happy with men her own age but the reality is we are based in EGO--ALL OF US. And if you are lonely and a handsome man (or beautiful woman) gives you attention and you aren't familiar with the world of online catfish scams, it would be VERY easy to keep that dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin flowing at any cost. I fell for the same trap, and I sent money--the WHOLE time in my gut I had a weird feeling but I chose the feel good feelings of my delusion. The reality is, a very attractive man or woman is going to seek out someone similar. You aren't going to get a message from a legitimate IG model if you don't have the social proof of celebrity or money. So if that is happening to you, assume its a scam.

When someone you have never met asks for money, that is telling you they are a scammer but you are not listening

Very true, but unfortunately there are many lonely people in the world. Most of the time people get scammed because they're lonely.
I don't think it is lack of education for the most part it is lonely people seeking attention they don't get in the real world. The victims of these scammers are buying into a fantasy and partially know it.

Totally
Having been a caregiver 24/7, I understand the loneliness and the isolation. I had to get someone to come to the house 1x a week so I could go out and be with other friends. This was so helpful.
🙂
with that money she could hired a nurse to hepled her
My exact thoughts
$5k to a total stranger in a few months. She could've done exactly that! I wonder if she even has friends? "I'm very politcal" with what brain?
German woman here - with a fun fact:
We've got mandatory health insurance; even if you're only a temp worker, you'll never be asked to pay for hospital bills! Besides: With over 85M citizens, we've got enough crane operators here to train newbies. 😑
All Mary had to do was Google what the man was telling her to see what was being said was true she would’ve known this. Be your own private investigator!
Yeah I noticed that right away. I’m not German and have never been to Germany but I knew they have health coverage
Which is something she could have found out by googling.., but she’s not intelligent enough to do that. She lacks the normal, problem solving skills of an adult
You can’t imagine how much money German sugar mummies / daddies are sending each day to scammers all over the world

That's true.
His favourite colour is "red or blue"?!.... then he doesn't have a favourite colour. RED FLAG!
Means he doesn’t want to say he is liberal or conservative.
I’ve noticed that all the scammers use the term "coming HOME to you". I imagine that in a genuine online dating situation people would say things like "come and visit/meet you", but cleverly using the words coming home is a subtle way of reinforcing feelings of love, warmth, cosiness, and family.
Exactly. They ask leading questions. He said he was looking for someone like her. She's already full time caring for her mother, what's one more person.?
That's what I just said too. They always want him to come home to her 😮yeah it sounds cozy and creepy too..

Lol, bob marley is a simp.

"and vice versa"
My only problem with spreading a quote/belief like that is that it leans on one side regarding gender. Why not say a person who awakens a person's love? Is there no problem when the genders are reversed?

I am a widow who gets tons of friends' requests on FB from American soldiers or former soldiers. I delete them all. I would never send someone I haven't met money, even if I had any.😂😂
I don't know what's worse... her ex husband leaving her because her mom got sick and he couldn't handle ir or this guy KNOWING ALL OF THIS and STILL scamming her and taking all of her money. Scumbags-- both of them.
We only know what she says. Maybe he left because she's a total moron (dumb enough to send thousands to internet hustlers). This can't be the only dumb thing in her life she's done. Duh
Plot twist: her ex husband was the scammer 😱
You only heard her side. I think there's a lot more to the break up of her ex than what's she's saying so don't be so quick to judge.
He wasn't a husband.
He was her boyfriend not her husband. Until you've seen what goes into caring for an elderly person you have no idea. I'm a home health aide. It's not easy
I live with a dude who just cannot grasp that he is being scammed, its borderline heartbreaking, borderline aggravating.
Also my neighbor who was an elderly man got scammed this way about 4 years ago and he actually thought the woman was trying to come here to America and that she was going to marry him and that they got engaged over the internet .
Hey was lucky he only got scammed for $8 ,000 ... but he was absolutely devastated when he learned that she wasn't real

A real person who asks me for money would be told to get loss, let alone if it was a scammer.
People should never feel shame for wanting a loving relationship. I'm happy that this channel exists, to expose those who prey on loving people, and often make them feel ashamed for falling for them. The blame lies 100% with the scammer.
Exactly. True love isn’t based on one sided money transactions and never seeing that person.
And many times the person being scammed is complicit in their manipulation. Why would you ever send someone you never met money?

I’m always surprised that a significant difference in attractiveness isn’t a red flag for these people. If someone is way out of your league, there’s probably a reason why they’re going after you.
There is a mistake in saying that someone handsome might be looking only for someone beautiful. We often think that oh wow they look awesome, they must have a bf/gf. And then we start making assumptions. Those are just ppl as anyone and can be lonely too or can have past bad experiences with someone and seek for something different. I think we should stop making all these assumptions about ppl depending on their appearance.

I think part of the fertile groundwork for being catfished is being willing to believe that someone younger and/or hotter than you will fall hopelessly in love with you within three weeks.
I was thinking the same. But maybe some ppl do not have the self-awareness where they stand 😢😢
Its crazy Not to know your available choices depending on your looks and age.
