This is why I refuse to feel bad for these people and find it highly entertaining.not that I support what scammers are doing it. But when delusion, arrogance and entitlement is combined with these people my empathy fly out of the window
The victims of the Green River Killer would ask him, when they climbed in his truck, "Are YOU The Green River Killer?" He'd smile sweetly and say, "well no". Then he strangled them & threw their bodies out in the deep woods of the Pacific Northwest
It's really troubling when all a man has to do is say "I love you" and call you "babe" or "queen" and ask you what you ate for breakfast...and women send money.
At least that’s “affectionate.” I’ve seen episodes where they say “he said all the right things, so sweet like ‘how was your day?’” Then they start showing string of messages and it’s nothing - “what did you eat today?”
Im taking notes.. Seems like few if any cons get convicted because they over seas...if i could sweet talk a dozen women like this id be a multi millionaire in no time!!
I'm sure she wouldn't give her house to ANY of her children, her friends or her relatives. But when a stranger from the internet asks for it, she'll give it in a heart beat! WTF!?
i had a friend who you could not get blood out of a stone from her, then she started online dating and fell for a man from Gambia she is 59 he is 25 she is convinced he loves her she remortgaged her home sent him thousands and from her savings, sad things is she has 4 kids and she has never done much for them as adults they worked themselves to afford what they have lonely old age awaits her
Been divorced and single 30 years- concentrating on daughter and grandson, helping as much as i can because they are my family and love me every single day -in person! And these ones impersonating our brave military are the worst. Ladies, tell these scumbags to gth and concentrate on your families!
Well, I'm so extremely charming and beautiful that hunky men want to marry me all the time - only based on my blurry, unfocused photo and my short 3-words responses. No red flags there, right? 🙃
Since I've been watching these videos, I really don't feel as badly for the victims as I used to. Especially the ones who have people telling them that it's a scam.
My husband, of over 30 years is very ill. I am afraid he might die every single night. I fear I won't survive if I lose him, but I have to be here for our son. He's the only man I'll ever love. If the worst happens, I will be as vulnerable as hell. You don't have to feel sorry for them, but don't judge someone who has lost their life partner.
I understand now why I was encouraged to live with my grandmother after my grandfather suddenly passed. My grandfather also set her up for life and I’m so grateful it did just that.
As a Veteran who served during OEF/OIF you can always access your money when you are overseas. If someone tries to sell you that BS they are scamming you. Also in the military you do not have to pay for training, healthcare or your flight home. Hope this comment can help someone avoid a scam.
No matter what you try to teach them… they still don’t listen and they will get scammed… I know a woman who has been scammed more than 20 times and now she believes she’s going to be a millionaire by the investment of foreign currency, Iraq Dinar is supposed to reevaluate… but that’s been over 20 years since she has gotten into this scam.. hasn’t made car payments for 9 months and hides the cars behind her barns and now they’re cutting her power and she’s owes $5k because she’s waiting for her millions of Iraq Dinar
I was watching a show called W5. A Woman in Canada lost $205,000.00 in a Catfish Scam. She went on to write a book about it and met another man online who said he would help her with the publishing. Of course they "Fell in love". He never asked for money but wanted to send her on a vacation because he was "In love". He sent her on vacation to Ethiopia. He couldn't get to Ethiopia but asked her to fly to Hong Kong to meet connect. Before the flight he sent her several new outfits to wear. She flew to Hong Kong and is now in prison. The buttons on the clothing were filled with cocaine.
I saw that, too. Who takes a romantic vacation to Ethiopia and not only stays the entire time when he didn't show up but then goes on to Hong Kong to meet him? I have been blessed to travel to many countries and many times alone for business. But, even with an agenda for business, I educated myself about where I was going. If I was going to countries or cities with reputations for certain crimes, I was vigilant. Even meeting people on planes can be suspect. In this day and age everyone must be vetted to end up in your personal life. It is sad but true. That woman on the show had a defence as to be convicted the person must know they were carrying drugs to be convicted. Since HK has gone back to China, I suspect that will be very difficult to prove. Interestingly enough, when I went to Thailand on business I was warned not to buy customized shoes, clothes with and without BUTTONS, small decorative pieces of furniture, statues or anything to be sent on to my home. They hide drugs in the buttons, hollowed out heels of shoes, in hems of clothing, in linings and handles of handbags and a million places decorative items. Once they have your address, when you get home you are burglerized. Or, if you buy several things from one store, to make packing to leave easier, they provide a free piece of luggage with everything packed. Just grab the bag and go. When you get to the baggage claim, your souvenir bag wasn't there. It was long gone the min it hit the belt or was relayed on to places unknown by a very well compensated luggage handler. Unbelievable.
I can almost guarantee you this scammer knew of the life insurance money and picked her as a victim. Also I believe these scammers put people on lists. You’ll find once you’ve been scammed before you’ll be contacted over and over, and if you cut them off immediately you’ll hardly ever be contacted because they put you on a list of not likely to fall for the scams
I'm glad my mom passed before my dad. I have a feeling she would have fallen for romance scams too. Combination of being naive, emotional, and co-dependent.
This lady needs both empathy but a stern talking to. You got scammed out of money and lost your property that you AND your husband worked for. Ok, she was inexperienced, lonely, vulnerable etc. But then continued with another criminal. Please, people, think with your head not your heart and below. Using your husband's life insurance too? Emailing a stanger her SSN. When that's a number one NO rule that has been around.
Try imagine losing a partner of 40 years, and the state of insanity that would put you in. That will help you understand, and yes, it quite likely is partly the dopamine which is devastated in serious grief, that predisposes one to this type of process addiction.
These are the kind of women who live vicariously through torrid Romance novels. This is the same thing only non fiction. A total fantasy and they know it.
Looking for acceptance love belonging you’d be shocked at how lonely some ppl are the right scammer can push the right buttons to build her trust. Ppl fall inlove in the mind and this is what the scammers work on building trust and appearing loyal and constantly understanding all the normal things we expect from a relationship but most ppl are selfish but the heart wants what it wants and will somehow see it in their web of lies
I can't take this anymore. If I allowed myself to cry for these victims I would be a wreck. I mean these people would never sell their house and give all this money to their real family or actual friends or even to a charitable cause, yet as soon as a criminal calls her his 'queen' she sends everything...
She would have been better spending the sums of money in a total makeover and have some decent teeth. She looks older than her actual years. And she looks way overweight and unfit. She doesn’t seem to have looked after herself at all. So it is delusional to crave for a fit young man. What is she thinking of!!?
Some guy I knew would give me anything I wanted. I told him not to because I was just using him but of he still wanted to I wasn't got to refuse it. He said it didn't matter. That was on him. I was honest with him.
I think she should back- up, take a computer break from trying to find love and work on herself. I'm in my early 60's. I spent money on a stylish haircut, bought new make-up and became healthier with the food I ate. That gave me the boost I needed to care about ME.
That was time and money well spent! Some of these women don't have teeth or ever tweezed their eyebrows. And for God's sake, stop filming these women from under their chins. No one looks good from that angle.
@@elipotter369 you are still young! I saw a women yesterday shopping and she said, I’m 74 and going to buy these ( knee high leopard) boots! I said and you are going to rock them!!! It’s all about attitude. Now go get um Eli!🥳
Honestly, the Scamfish crew are some of the kindest, supportive, yet straight-forward people I’ve ever come across online. These folks should be life coaches.
They gotta change the name of this show. These people aren't getting scammed. They are knowingly and willingly sending money to people WAYYYYYY out of their league.
They are getting scammed. Did you miss all the lies and deceptions the scammers pull on them? Just because the victims should know better, doesn't mean that the criminals aren't scammers. Stop blaming the victims and letting the scammers off the hook!
Why can't people be happy alone? Enjoy those grand kids. You had your soul mate for 40 years. That's more than some people could ever dream to have had.
It’s astonishing how desperate they are to have a “romantic” partner. Such intensity is supposed to diminish once the reproductive years have past by, as it’s entirely redundant. However, these sad older folk are clearly crippled by this inappropriate yearning, which is unfortunately accompanied by a propensity for delusional thinking and cognitive deficiencies. They absolutely require the supervision of a competent legal guardian (selected by a _competent_ advocate, not themselves). BTW, I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that some of these victims are suffering from significant age-related mental decline, including things like mini-strokes and dementia. It’s a bit hard to believe that they’ve successfully accumulated wealth throughout their lives whilst being so gullible and naive. A recent impairment of mental faculties is a reasonable explanation for some cases.
You're right. But I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to have a partner, however these victims need to do two things: go out and meet real people face to face and be realistic about the kind of people who are will be attracted to you.
May sound harsh but people like this should be put under a conservatorship. Clearly they cannot handle making their own financial decisions. I mean the woman got scammed out of her house and could barely afford her own needs but STILL continued to send these scammers all of her money for Christ sake 🤦🏽♀️.
At the first faintest hint of this behavior from either one of my parents I would be at an attorney pulling out all the stops doing everything possible to prevent them from making decisions for themselves and put them on an allowance. People work hard all their lives, that is supposed to build generational wealth, not be sent to another country.
@@lindaarranga4536 She is mentally ill/addicted, like a Gambler! .Cannot stop! This is shocking! Why her children don't help and call for an adviser/therapist/lawer! Chrrrist!
The level of patience of the entire Scamfish team is incredible, especially when the victims promise to stop sending money then do it anyway or, in Debra's case, when she concealed that there was a THIRD man she was in contact with.
My husband lost his battle with a brain tumour. He would be horrified if I was to give everything we both worked so hard for over our 43 years of a happy marriage to a scumbag scammers. Reality check time for this woman and so many others
My husband died suddenly. We married as teens, married 23 years. I can't imagine disrespecting and dishonoring him to give all he worked for to another man, especially a stranger.
It's also PATHETIC how she went to do this shit BEFORE HER HUSBAND WAS EVEN PUT IN THE GROUND. like my god, do you not need some time to think after 41 years of marriage?
@@cococock2418She is terrified of being alone. My fiance's mother is like that. Ever since his mom and dad divorced she dated horrible guys. When my fiance was 11, she was with a 19 year old who was bipolar and abusive. My fiance has lifelong claustrophobia because he rolled him up in a rug, kicked him, then sat on top of it so he was stuck in the rug. He smashed his Xbox because he accidentally ran over a sock with a push mower. By the time we met, she was dating a guy my fiance's age who refused to work and just played video games and took Xanax all day. The only thing I will give him credit for is that he cleaned the house. After him she dated my fiance's dad's friend and she is still with him, unfortunately. He once called my fiance's sister a bitch in front of me when she was 12. I lost it, her mom said nothing. He once locked her out of the house in the snow while she only had pajamas on to "teach her a lesson" You'd be surprised what people will endure or let their kids endure just to not be alone!
Consider yourself very lucky to have a fulfilled life. There are people who are lonely and emotionally yearning for romantic love. That is the simplest reason why these romance scams exist. It is not rocket science.
I’m trying to figure out how all these people would be ecstatic to find out the person that’s been begging them for thousands and thousands of dollars nonstop is real? Why would you wanna relationship with someone who just nothing but beg you for money all the time.
My thoughts entirely....even after being told he's a scammer... Why would she still be interested in a slimy man who constantly asks for money....begging almost.? Who in their right mind would want to spend time with such a low life sub human.😢
@@QueenPcontrolstheuniverse And I’m thinking about the woman who lost close to a million dollars. She committed suicide. She was a beautiful woman, truly. It’s one of the only times that I’ve said, damn you’ about anyone. He ruined her financially and every which way.
Is the social secury number so important? I never lived in the US. ^^ In my country, we have a national number that no one but the person herself is supposed to know. But even if someone discovers that number, he can't do anything, because the ID card is still mandatory (and making a fake ID card is as hard as making a fake bank card, because it's an electronic card too - if the devices can't read them, it's not considered valid). If someone steals your ID (therefore, discover your national number, that is writted on the card), he still can't do anything, because the ID Card is protected by a code (again, like a bank card). The scammer CAN'T: - Ask a new card pretending being you and having lost the card, or that the card has been stolen. Because, the first step to have a new card (no matter because you lost it or it has been stoled) is going to the police office to be identified. - Ask a new code, pretending being you and having forgotten it. Because: 1) the new code will be sent at your official adresse per mail (and he can't pretend having moved out, because he will be required to go to the local administration, where he will be identified, to change the adress). 2) You have to go to your local administration (where you're identified) with the mail you recieved to activate your code. Furthermore, the national databanks have your ID photo. So, if the scammer tries to make a fake card with his photo instead of yours, it would be immediately noticed by the administration. :)
how all these old, out of shape people without much going for them can believe that young, attractive, and successful people fall madly in love with them is beyond me
When your young and good looking sex is free...when your old and ugly you gotta pay for it...before id send money for nothing id hire sex workers and have real fantasies
Most of these victims seem to be under the impression that the Catfished crew are going to find out that their online relationship is real. They seem to reach out only to verify the validity of their delusions.
One doesn't need to access one's bank accounts to buy plane tickets, one uses their credit cards. Do people really not know how the world really works?
I’m beginning to think a lot of these women had husbands who took care of the finances and they really are clueless. Ladies (and gentlemen) learn how things work in case you are on your own one day!! This is so irresponsible

@@mochimochi7669 I think they target older people beacuse they have money or savings. People who just lost their husband or getting a divorce or just lonely. They are the best targets for these romance scammers

Anybody else notice that these victims always fall in love with someone that tells them they are going to have access to millions of dollars? WHO in their right mind gives their social security number to a total stranger they've never met/seen?!! PLEASE!
They have prepared some fake bank statements to gain trust. Look even these UA-cam MLM traders ads who show off their high earnings through an online bank account aren’t trustworthy. They’re all likely fake to get people paying into their schemes
When they see that the person has so much money in their bank account even though it's fake, they let their guard down. That's the tactic scammers use and I hope more and more people are catching on to these type of scams.
How absolutely gullible are these people? I can spot a scammer within minutes. They all have the same story Remember if he/she is out of your league and they say I love you then they are scamming you.

I know right. A scammer on Dr Phil admitted they target unattractive, overweight older woman and tell them they are beautiful and it's intoxicating as they have not been told that much in their lives
I just don't understand the appeal of dating someone way out of your league. If my partner was 80% more attractive than me, I would be insecure all the time and it would be a miserable relationship.
Seriously! I like my men less attractive than me. 100%. I like to know my man is overjoyed to be with me & finds me very attractive. I’m probably a narcissistic asshole idk. But if someone out of my league looks at me…meh. No thanks.
Across the board, the big common denominators with scam victims is a total lack of awareness. They all overestimate their level in appearance, personality (or lack thereof), real age, physical fitness, sex appeal, intellectual ability and gullibility!! It's mind boggling to me. When someone way out of ur league with age, appearance and lifestyle hits on u....then needs lots of money, but they have millions in the bank, and calls u his 👑....just believe him, because dreams really do come true! When these scams seemed to start - around 15 years ago, in the UK - I remember thinking they would only get away with it, for a very short period. Once the word was out, about them, I thought they would die away, because they'd have no takers. But now it's a massive business which must generate millions/trillions per year. When people know these scams exist, why do they fall for them? It's so sad. 😢
I'm 53 and was married almost 30 years. Divorced in 2016. I had never heard of this. HAVING said that when I began using online dating I had one man ask me for 20 bucks but I'm not a fool. I don't give away free money.
The problem is I don’t think a lot of older people have the technological experience, or people experience, to see through scams like a younger person would. We’ve been taught to be suspicious of everything and everyone from day 1 while they didn’t. Their scam was a door to door salesman selling crappy vacuums, ours is a fake profile of a close friend asking for 5k for cancer treatment. Might not even occur to them that there’s people that would do that to someone. They lived a completely different life experience and I’m kinda jealous they still have the light left in their eyes. 😂
Even if the man is legit, why would a woman want a man who's asking her for money? If you're a real man, and you're not my husband or other male relative, keep walking. It's tacky to be asking a woman for money.
It is vanity. Of course this person adores me, and to show I appreciate their adoration I will do this just to prove a point. They're also proving a point to their friends and family that they're starting a new life with "a catch"
I bet you're married or have a significant other? I am 52 and been doing online dating sites on and off for 22 years after the man whom I thought I was going to marry and who claimed I was the love of his life decided I was not the one. There really was not many options for meeting singles once you are out of school unless you date people you work with which is never a good idea and rarely works out. I have met many men online some of whom lasted awhile. I have yet to be asked for money by a romance scammer, probably because it never gets that far. I can tell when someone's fake plus they say they love me before even meeting me and it's a huge turn off. I make people talk to me on the phone or FaceTime if I'm interested and also get their social media info to make sure they're real. The types of people that keep talking to and falling for scammers are usually unable to be alone, used to being married many years, and cannot handle being alone so even if they have doubts something is real, they will deny and push those away because the attention they're getting from these men online is more important than money. And they blindly believe and trust these total strangers because they are too nice, can't defend themselves, desperate for love, create a fantasy in their minds, and believe what they want to believe. It's disgusting they're willing to sell their home and give away their inheritance to a total stranger online over their own children or other relatives, but they believe the scammer who says they have millions of dollars in an account they cannot get to yet until they get out of the military and promise to pay the victim back and tell them this is the only way theu can meet, be together, and live happily ever after. The lonely, usually very unattractive victim believes them bc they want to have that companionship they can never find in real life. It's really sad.
Normal people don't keep a few million in a normal bank account. Anyone with that much money would have a financial advisor and the money would be diversified into funds, stocks, bonds, real estate and other investments
And with that much money, why would they have the need to be in some time-consuming "training" for "document processing" that's keeping them in another country away from their two small kids? Nothing about it makes any sense.
Thank you! We inherited several hundred thousand dollars when my in-laws died. It’s in an investment portfolio, not our checking account! And most people have at least one credit card if something happened to their bank account. The scammers and their victims must live in the 1930’s!
Way back pre-Internet, I had a guy that worked for me that had such bad body odor that I had to literally counsel him to use soap when he bathed. He met some woman in Canada on a bulletin board and after chatting for a while decided he was going to leave his wife and move up there and live with her. I remember his wife coming in to work bawling her eyes out, it was so sad. He was back within two weeks. Turns out there are some things you just can learn about people without meeting face-to-face (like horrible B.O.).
I was pursued online. Chatted for months and actually met in person one time. After that no time, too busy, family obligations, etc. but we still chatted. One day I get a text… OMG my car died. I need to get money to buy a car. Can you help me out? I said let me see what I can do… click! Block! No more chatting. It really is that simple.
She had a wonderful husband for 40 years what a disgrace she is he worked his whole life and made sure she would be ok financially she has not honoured him. I have no sympathy for her she deserves to be alone.
Over the years I received contact from scammers on dating sites. It's so obvious what their game is and as soon as they realise you are onto them their profiles disappear before you can report them to the site.
Good for you! They are also on Facebook (not just Facebook meeting place), in your mailbox, spamming phones, and cold calling. A dear friend sent me an email saying she had an issue and wanted me to WU some money to here. I picked up the phone and called. Turns out her contact list had been hacked. Geeze. Just be safe out there.
I only came across 2, it was insanity from the start with both, same approach with love bombing and talking marriage first texts. When I asked to FaceTime, they both couldn’t but phone calls were allowed, both heavy accents claiming to be US citizens. Doesn’t matter if you report, they create new profiles
@@lisah8070 Interesting joke. A long time ago a friend insisted another friend try the dating apps since she was having great success on them. Our friend connected with a "Greek" gentleman who texted her, night and day. She couldn't work because he had so many things to text about. She decided to give him a call. When she did, the voice that picked up was the usual accent. He immediately hung up. Then, get this, he told her, he had to hang up because he was on the highway at high speed. So, he couldn't talk. But she could continue to text. 🤣🤣It was a great laugh over cocktails that night.
I had one I could tell right off the bat. Well the Facebook Dating profile pic changed to some totally different guy who was of African descent. It didn't change on the main Facebook profile. It was like he confirmed what I knew (showed who he really was) and I reported him.
This is brutal. She thought she was being careful when she met Tyler and told him she was scammed. The fact that Scammy Tyler told her he was scammed too and told her his “story” tells me how clever these assholes are. That was a deliberate tactic Scammy Tyler used to bring down her guard. Thanks for exposing yet another tactic. 👍
I talk to Scammer’s all the time because they have invaded an anonymous social media app that I use. Many of them claim to be scam victims in order to make the victims feel more confident that they are legitimate. Lots of scammers messaging me saying that they want to be my sugar daddy or sugar mommy. They claim that they will pay me in allowance of some sort of amount as high as $9000 a week. But first you have to pay $25 or $100 or whenever because according to them they have been scam in the past by sugar babies that would block them after getting paid and they bought money from you in order to prove that you won’t block them. That doesn’t make any sense at all because you can still block them at any time in the future. Something else that I’ve been told it’s like really really ridiculous. Somebody messaging me said they were offering a job. I knew it was a scam. And when I asked them why they would use an anonymous social media app to find employees instead of LinkedIn or CareerBuilder they said that they were scammed by a person who they found out one of those sites who ran off with money that they sent them to use for payroll. The scammer claimed that they had to rush the hiring process and didn’t get the persons information because The employees urgently needed to be paid. And then he scarfed at it as if it wasn’t a big deal saying that it’s all good. That’s the most ridiculous thing that a scammer told me.
I can't believe she sold a home for a stranger she never met in person or face time. I can't understand how people part with their hard earned money to a stranger when they probably wouldn't give it to their own family. It's also strange that these people are supposed to be working but they talk for hours like night after night.
This woman mentioned collecting disability. That's also a common theme here. I don't know if it adds to the 'easy come, easy go' mentality but also common for these women to spend money their husbands worked hard for.
not until you are a victim youll never know. i guess this people study every human and they know how to play their games with every person at every stage
i am an older widow and have already transferred all my assets over to my children--i live on a very modest amount but i am very happy knowing that MY CHILDREN & GRANDCHILDREN will be the only ones to get what my husband and i worked a lifetime to accumulate
Its insane that these people will say, "I'm been scammed, if you're a scammer you better move on!" and they say, "honey, I'm not a scammer" and they think well okay I asked, they must not be. They should not be allowed to handle money
If any person asks for money whom I have never met in person or know anyone from the internet who asks for money or for me to take in packages for them then sorry but the so called relationship would be over and if they carried on trying to get any kind of money out of me they would be warned and if they didn't heed the warning they would be blocked. everywhere I could block them.

No, I am not.
Okay, so where do I send you my life savings, and by when?" Unbelievably delusional.

Damn!
😂😂😂
I have downloaded this but had not gotten around to watching it. Will do so ASAP!
It's unbelievable how they never learn!
I won't even add anyone on Facebook that I don't know, even if we have 22 mutual friends.

Some people should just be banned from online dating, holy shit
She is also having multiple online relationships st the same time. She doesn't really have clean hands.
What I don’t understand is how she could have fallen for this multiple times. This goes back to the idea of this being an addiction.
Try imagine losing a partner of 40 years, and the state of insanity that would put you in. That will help you understand, and yes, it quite likely is partly the dopamine which is devastated in serious grief, that predisposes one to this type of process addiction.
I mean, it kind of is. It's a fantasy. She's lonely, and so is desperate to believe these men who shower her with praise and attention are real.
These are the kind of women who live vicariously through torrid Romance novels. This is the same thing only non fiction. A total fantasy and they know it.

This is so true. She had 40 years and that should be enough. Some people never found their soulmate lol

It’s the giving of the social security numbers for me. That’s insane.
My middle aged daughter doesn’t know mine.
Is the social secury number so important? I never lived in the US. ^^
In my country, we have a national number that no one but the person herself is supposed to know.
The scammer CAN'T:
- Ask a new card pretending being you and having lost the card, or that the card has been stolen.

When people know these scams exist, why do they fall for them?
It's so sad. 😢

This is so sad. I am a woman in my 60s and we are not all this gullible!

Ya it doesn’t even matter at a point
It is vanity. Of course this person adores me, and to show I appreciate their adoration I will do this just to prove a point. They're also proving a point to their friends and family that they're starting a new life with "a catch"
Real men wouldn't do it.😎
Right from the beginning, if you sell your house to finance a scammer then fall for it again - it's hard to see much of a bright future ahead
You can't scam a person without their full cooperation. I think it's creepy to talk to unknowns online.
I married my husband after meeting him as an Unknown online 😂 def not the norm though.
Online dating is for losers.
How can you believe that a love declaration is real if you've never met in person?!
probably because she felt it herself
you can be lied to in person

Now make it make sense that someone knows they've been scammed and proceeds to send money to someone else they've also never met??? 🤔🤨🧐
