This is so untrue. Good loves a cheerful giver. I have never been demanded to give. Yes there are churches that are not on the up and up but that’s like judging one person by what someone else did. It’s between you and God what you give. No church can just take it out of your paycheck.
Y'all have never been to the South then. See my reply to the first post about Baptist churches. It is the rule, not the exception. Of course, I did specifically mention that Episcopalian and Catholic churches would never do this. But Baptist? All the way. And plenty of non denominational super churches, like Hope Church, here in Memphis. You can attend for free, but you can't BELONG for free!
This is undoubtedly the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Every church I've ever gone to passes a plate around. No one there asks to see your paystubs or banking account records.
Not absurd, extremely common in southern Baptist churches and others. I would even say it's the RULE in the majority of Baptist churches in the south, judging from everyone I've talked to. Even huge non denominational organizations like Hope church here in Memphis do it.

DEAD WRONG.
The gods that have been made are exactly the gods you would expect to be made from a species that's half a chromosome away from chimpanzees.
What's wrong with chimpanzees?
