As an atheist I can see the value of the church and its belief system and stories, myths and teaching. I see the reality of say Christianity as the effect of a society that has been taught the values of Christianity and how that society behaves because of those beliefs. That is real. The manifestation of Christianity is how a society that has Christian beliefs behaves. I would rather live in a Christian society than an atheist society because it would be a safer, friendlier, happier place to live in.

I spent the better part of my 20s declaring myself an atheist, rebelling against the roots of my Christian upbringing. I married an amazing man at 21, though we both got away from the faiths of our childhood. I became a mother at 28 and the love I felt as a parent changed my whole perspective of the meaning of life. We began to go to church (in the heart of the bible belt, no less!) and started to turn away from my atheism, realizing that I actually had really misunderstood so much of what I formerly rebelled against. But doubt persisted despite my longing to have bigger faith. I became pregnant with my 2nd child at 29 years old and caught COVID when I was 7 months pregnant. I was pretty bad off, and was placed on a ventilator for 10 days. I woke up in the ICU having no idea that my baby and I had just survived such an ordeal. The nurse told me I was very lucky to be alive and was one of the few pregnant covid mothers on that ward at that time that had bounced back after being put on life support with my baby alive too. The fact that others in my very situation didnt survive is not lost on me. I think about it daily. As soon as the nurse left the room, I surrendered my life to God and thanked Him for giving me a second chance. I may not have all the answers to life, but everyday that me and my son wake up is a gift. I will forever praise Jesus, and idc how crazy it may sound to some.
this would've sounded crazy to me a year ago, but God came into my life recently as well in the most unexplainable and overwhelming of ways. I am touched by your story. God bless you and yours
I like your story. But I'm still in the atheïstic phase. So don't forget to praise Mohammed for the role he played in saving you and your child. And damn the Devil for making all those other people die in the ICU, he is a very bad bad man. What I am trying to say; Religion is a way for us to deal with reality.
This is touching. It is, really. But there is a DEEP part of me that blanches at, "Those other people died and I didn't. I guess God has something special for me." So, what...? He was smoking in the men's room while those other people were dying...? I find this type of quiet arrogance profoundly unsettling. It is good that you are alive, and I'm glad you are back with "family", but these kinds of celebrations...I dunno. Humans seek to find order amidst chaos.
I love this video. Haha. I was raised a Catholic and didn’t start taking it seriously until about 3 or 4 months ago. Now that I go to Mass every Sunday and try to follow the commandments of Christ, I’ve never felt or found this much peace and contentment. I cannot even claim I was the one to go back on my own, who called me back? Jesus Christ called me, He made the ultimate sacrifice for us all, it’s about time we sacrifice our egos and time for Him, the only begotten Son of God. God bless you all. Peace be with you.

As a Orthodox Christian there are many reason to attend church. I myself have had so many positive things happened to me from a low point in my life where i actually prayed for things and they came true. I go to give thanks and praise. Sure I can thank God from my bedroom but I believe making the effort to actually go shows my gratitude. Also people go for many other reasons...people who are lonely will met other people that understand and want to reach out to you......God made church for his flock...he doesn't need the church the building but he wants the people to help other people ....the church is people not the bricks and mortar.

@@LeonardLeon Yes. A difficult starting point topic if you aren’t even a Christian, but even Jesus’s own disciples had difficulty with it, as it is written: “When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?” 61 But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you?(B) 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?(C) 63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But among you there are some who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe and who was the one who would betray him.(D) 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father.”(E) 66 Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. 67 So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Yeah im not exactly religious, but id be lying that being in any rigorous ceremony doesn't fill you with some kind of awe. I mean as kid, just chilling in a church was special.
As a pastors son, I have absolute empathy for people who are failed by their churches and choose a life without God. I’ve seen churches with all kinds of environments and a bad church that is run with sin should be casted out, but if you find the right church with an immovable set of faith and values you’ll find true bliss. Ain’t nothing like pure acceptance of the lost soul by a multiple of people trying to cleanse it and lift the spirit way up!
@@cniht I didn’t. I’m empathizing with an existing group of people. In my experience, your relationship with the church affects your relationship with God, especially if you’re a new comer. If the church treats you poorly and you’re just a child, you will see God as an enemy, not a savior and who wants to allow an enemy in their lives? Please, try to imagine the concept that you live in a world with other people with their own unique experiences.
Many people didn't reject Christianity, Christianity rejected them. I'm a prime example. Not allowed to be a Christian because my parents lived in sin and were excommunicated for it (my dad was a Catholic, member of the church quire, my mother was Dutch Reformed, they were rejected by their churches and in case of my mother by her family for daring to love outside of the congregation). Further rejected by Christianity for being transgender and therefore doomed to burn in hell for all eternity (despite being celibate my entire life, and will remain so until and unless I find someone I'm ready to marry, that's more pious than most Christian priests despite them vowing celibacy and me never having done so). And despite all that I still largely live by Christian values (though somewhat modified, as a lot of them demand unthinking obedience to the Church hierarchy which obviously is a no-way no-go thing for me) as I was raised to. And most other religions are no better. Heck, I'm more enamoured by Buddhism than anything for the last 10 years or so if I ever wanted to join an organised religion, and that one's hardly organised at all.
I haven't gone to church in a couple years, just been fighting depression but maybe going back is exactly what I need. I'm also Orthodox and was raised going to a Ukrainian Orthodox church in a small town called Andrew in Alberta Canada. I find something soothing when you attend, the tradition and divine liturgy that has been the same since Christ. There is an English-speaking Orthodox church in my city that I was attending
Thank you Jordan. This was so important to me. I'm going back to church today after hearing this. Because if I don't go...I'm part of the dissolution that allows that which fills the gap. Thank you🙏
Love this man, this is really hitting the nail on the head! "You think the Catholics are bad, wait to you see what's coming to replace them". I have been struggling lately in my devout Catholic life but this happens and is normal before a revelation of sorts. I am determined to simplify my life drastically, cutting down on Facebook and Messenger, trips to the city, alcohol, caffeine and sugary treats. Trying to live a simple and earthly holy life everyday at my home, with a good balance of work prayer and gratitude; rarely going out; trying not to chase or change the world but to change myself!

The worst part of it is those people celebrate their inconsistencies and insist that we all live in a similarly inconsistent way. Morality is relative and subjective, they say. It's a dangerous worldview to have. Let us all safely maneuver away from it.
Stop calling these times crazy. Did you live through the cold war and the threat of nuclear destruction? Did you live in the 1930's in Germany or the 1920's in Russia? Thanks for sharing. I grew up agnostic/atheistic and was taught general do’s and don’ts by well meaning and loving agnostic parents, but it wasn’t until an existential crisis of sorts in my college years that I began to explore theology. I had a couple of what some might call religious experiences during this time, and I eventually found myself in an Orthodox Church. I was not convinced at first, but I decided to attempt to live as if it was real. It has been 6 months, and the truth of the church has become a truth to me in a self-apparent way - more than I could have imagined. I expect it will continue to convict me of the truth even further so long as I continue on this path. While far from a “perfectly redeemed” soul, and still full of sin and folly, I feel like I am finally on the path towards living a meaningful life in the truest sense as a young man with a young family - the most essential time to develop true meaning. This is thanks largely to the church, and dare I say, entirely thanks to the grace of God whom until recently I denied the very existence of.
Amen! Only our Father God can change the heart of man this way. Isn't it a miracle that a person can go from denying, mocking and hating the very nature and existence of a God, to believing and completely trusting in God? Nietzsche's quote about killing God is always cut off. He says that were drowning in the blood of God because we killed them. Removing God has severe consequences.
It's so baffling how Nietzsche is so terribly misunderstood and misrepresented. People and schools say that he was happy about the idea of the "death of God" when in fact that's almost completely reverse the point he was trying to make with his famous "God is dead" lines.
@@ollikoskiniemi6221 Just like people say the founding fathers included the separation of church and state to protect the state from the church but read John Locke's "Essay on Toleration" of which they took from in drafting the constitution and Locke states it more frequently that the two entities should be separated in order to protect the church, as a church is a voluntary gathering of individuals and a state is involuntary. You can choose to not be part of a church but even if you don't vote in the state you are still subject to it within its territory. One is a matter of the spirit and one is a matter of the worldly

Yeah, I went and got more into that. He was saying that, as a continuation, that God must be replaced with something equally as good for the community if we are to remove him. Not that he was some deep-seated edgelord who reveled in God's death.

Muslims follow the laws of Jesus closer than any other religion. In the garden of gethsemane Jesus prayed by putting his face on the floor, like the Muslims do. Jesus forbade and didn’t drink alcohol, or eat pork, many Christian’s don’t do that, but Muslims do. Jesus kept a beard. The female followers of Jesus wore head coverings like the Muslims. The word for god in Jesus’ language (Aramaic) is Allaha / Elah. Jesus was circumcised on the 8th day, many Christian’s are not but Muslims are. Jesus fasted for 40 days and many Christian scholars agree this would be a similar fast to the Muslims as in Ramadan. Jesus believed in only ONE GOD, a man came to him asking what is the greatest commandment and he repeated the Shema, “hear o Israel your lord thy God is ONE”, this is what Muslims believe but Christian’s believe in a triune god. When jesus entered the upper chamber he said to his disciples “peace be unto you” this is how Muslims greet each other. If Jordan wants Christian’s to go to the church to follow the teachings of jesus, perhaps he should point them to a Mosque. We believe he was a mighty prophet of God, the messiah, born miraculously and performed miracles, taken up into heaven by god before his crucifixion and we believe he will return.
@H_4Truth Muslims certainly don't follow the Hadith. Or most rules in the Quran....and that's wonderful for humanity. @@h_4truth560 Christianity is about a circumcision of the heart first and foremost. So modesty for example looks different in Christian culture because it's not about what clothes people were wearing in biblical times, it's about a heart posture, something that comes from the inside out. It means different things to different people depending on what God is bringing them through. It's not imposed on them by an external religious structure. “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ c ” 10Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” Matthew 15:8-11 28A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God. Romans 2:28-29

I see he is still searching. We all go down many roads and think that it is the correct one only to find out that it was not the correct road. “Catholic Church is an institution I am bound to hold divine - but for unbelievers a proof of its divinity might be found in the fact that no merely human institution conducted with such knavish imbecility would have lasted a fortnight” ― Hilaire Belloc
Hilaire was a hack as that is the core of Osip's argument in the novel, War & Peace, about why the story of Jesus was still alive, relevant, and thriving in Russia during the 1800's and the rise of communism and the scientific revolution. Hilaire is also grifting since he called himself a historian knowing full well that the entire point of War & Peace was to mock historians for being hack authors. I've also seen another quote being used by modern hacks. "Kings are pawns to historians." ~War & Peace
I am so, so in need of my Catholic beliefs in my daily life. I am a very religious woman created by God. I decided to be baptized Catholic when I was four years old. I left the Church when I was fifteen years old for about four or six months and ended up at a protestant church. I was not happy attending that church Mount Zion church. I left and when back to my Catholic Church. I did my Communion and Confirmation. It was Jordan's advice to not lie that gave me the courage to step away from participating at church. The certainty that was expected from me was making me feel weak. Not stronger. The curriculum being taught was extremely hard for me to stand behind. I found myself saying, "the church teaches XYZ" instead of "I think or I believe XYZ" when teaching the youth or my own children. I only have experience in one particular brand of church, but being in this world of millennial "nones" the script seems to be the same for others leaving other brands of churches. I like the idea of God. I like the idea of having faith in the good. I've gone down philosophical rabbit holes and I feel like I have to have faith in something to avoid aimless nihilism. However, every time I look into a church they want me to have faith on a set of facts that makes their brand special. When in reality I don't see one brand better than another. No brand means no common ground I guess. It is kind of paradoxical in my mind. The creeds are what bug me, but it is the creed that brings people together. So it puts me in a very strange luke warm place and I don't know what to do about it. I don't like the idea of "rescuing the father" because how do I know I'm not just letting in snakes? The best I can do is be honest and say I don't participate in any organized religion, but I support others as they aim up, if that involves participating in an organized religion they have my support. Even the one that I no longer participate in.
Any church whose brand, which I would call doctrine, is more important to them than the fundamental tenets of faith that underpin all of them, is off track. Lots of churches are off track. The key is to find one who’s getting it right. I’ve been in the same congregation for 40 years. Most of that time has been great, but our church has veered off the road more than once over those years. Churches are built of people who still demonstrate human characteristics, even if they do share faith in God. The key is to find the right church.
Wow I appreciate your comment so much. Yes I agree you cannot lie and it's better to say you are not convinced by religion regardless of whether you like it or not
I don't believe in God, but I do like the architectural aesthetics and the somber ambiance of old churches and cathedrals. Regardless of your beliefs, they are places that are very well suited for contemplation and just spending time with yourself...and that's much different from being alone.
Agreed. But the Megacurches in the US that are held in these big confernce room like settings and pastors that act like rock stars, turns me off. Theres some nice old churches in Toronto I visit often.
"When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation." ~Matthew 12;43-45
I agree with that completely. There are so many foolish people out there that are more of this world, and sadly raise their kids to be like this. Last week I overheard a father riding his bike through a cemetery with his young son, say to the kid that some people believe that when you die your soul lives on, but he did not believe in such 'nonsense' and that infuriated me because he's in a way teaching his kid that 'this world is for the living' as he said, and that when you pass on, you're pretty much soulless like an object such as a rock. What kind of life will that boy have if he continues to hear such things from his father? If this man doesn't believe in anything spiritual, he should keep that to himself instead of raising his boy to be the same as he is. Non believing and spiritually empty. This is how we end up with materialistic and spiritually corrupt individuals ruining this world.
The Holy Ghost pours out his Spirit and brings the increase in the name of Jesus. The latter rain proceeds the second coming and it is what waters the seed. Without the Spirit of God no one is saved. Believe in your idea of Jesus till the end of time, it does little good. You need to accept his ambassador and representative. So when the Holy Spirit shows himself and is rejected that is the unpardonable sin. To grieve the Spirit of God is to reject life. The supreme witness of Jesus Christ (King David) is reporting for duty. He was a man whose tongue held no lies, For he was the direct descendant of our father in the heavenly skies. Born to a body of fleshy sin, Though what laid beneath was unlike the rest of his kin. Jesus had the utmost grace, Never being wavered by evils face. He was wise beyond any years, Performing miracles that would bring crowds to tears. A beacon of light on top of a starless mountain, Where words of wisdom poured out of him as if there ran a cosmic fountain. His eyes pierced through you with a single glance, Leaving even the most hardened individuals in quite the trance. The Holy Spirit so ever majestically flowed inside this man, Naturally people caught notice and became a fan. Students began showing up from every mold, When they heard his words their hearts were sold. Wicked men put a price on Jesus's head, He was wanted alive or dead. Despite this he and his disciples continued their teachings, Where on occasion they endured terrible beatings. One of the twelve apostles turned to black, No longer having Jesus's back. Judas Iscariot had done Satan's bidding, And it is in hell where he now is sitting. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our shortcoming, However don't be saddened for if you believe in him you will see him at your homecoming. There he sits at the right hand of God's throne, Being the voice of truth and love that we all have known. Satan's tongue is coated in a layer of deceit, And he tramples over promises with his feet. He's a being who is bound by deceptions, Whose very essence oozes with misconceptions. He struggles to look you in your eyes, For his gaze holds nothing but lies. On occasion he will give you his hand, But don't be fooled by his stand. He seeks to corrupt your heart, You would be wise to avoid him from the start. Seeking quick pleasures and casting aside love, He traverses this land with push and shove. Now Lucifer was once not lost, But pride blinded him at a cost. Disobeying God he waged war, Becoming detestable to the core. Today he is the ruler of Earth, Though for all his power he has no real worth. However most of us have still been sold, Giving into sin and becoming cold. Nearly everyone is a puppet dancing on strings, Marching to delusion for their unjust kings. My people have given into lust, Becoming robots full of rust. However you my child are the exception, So when you meet me don't forget to mention. That you alone have been granted the key, And before your glory they shall all bend a knee. P.S.- Not too long ago I was very bitter and destructive. Literally I was covered in blood from head to toe and ripping off nails and things of that nature. In my mind Jesus was against me, he had a vendetta against me which I couldn't account for. Then slowly but surely I started having these revelations, and began delving into the word of God. It seemed like my agony was not in vain. The things which held me back eventually began to propel me forward. The darkness began fading away and an unspeakably bright light was surfacing. Jesus told me that he had to break me in order for me to rediscover who I really was. Sort of like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Today I am almost fully healed in every conceivable way, and things like being a virgin and being covered in scars I strangely enough take much pride in. I took up my cross and followed Christ and in doing so I discovered the greatest love of all.
I strongly relate to your position. I was the same way for the majority of my life. Now, at 59 years old, I openly declare my belief in Christ. I highly recommend this book: 'Jesus and the Near Death Experience: Testimonies of the Ascended Christ' by Roy L. Hill. I think you might find it life-changing. 😊
@22yomale (1) Q: “why do you label your values as Christian?” A: Because they are. Nothing exists in a vacuum and everything has an origin. I’d strongly suggest you study the history of western philosophy (Ben Shapiro’s ‘The Right Side of History’ is an excellent starting point) (2) “I’m an atheist and I have no values”. “If science can’t provide it no one can”. A: See? That’s the problem with atheism and science fundamentalism. Science is amazing, but is nothing more than a useful tool to find the truth in some very specific contexts, like biology and physics. It doesn’t and it can’t get you anywhere closer to ethical truth, meaning in life, existential realizations. That’s what makes Philosophy much superior to science. And true Faith even more superior, probably, as it brings you closer to the biggest truth of all, God.
@22yomale what? How am I not? I just told you that I’m deeply Christian. Also, you don’t need to be Christian or even agree with any of it to be part of the west. Also also, what does that have to do with anything?
@@Undaglibenglaubengloben do either of you consume alcohol? If so your not deeply Christian Do either of you eat pig meat? If so your not deeply Christian Do either of you celebrate pagan holidays ( Christmas) (Halloween) etc etc then you can’t claim to be “deeply” Christian. FACT.
Peterson's excellent discussion of religion and particularly Christianity is the reason I became a Christian. Since then, my life has become so much richer. Some of the reason (I think) has to do with simply contemplating the sacred mysteries, even if I don't know if I fully believe in them. I loved Peterson's definition of belief as "acting as if something is true". This is how I approach my religion and I find that it is more useful when approaching the subject of religion and accessing its benefits.
It seems that non church goers seem to want this perfect church that is filled with perfectly good people....every man is a sinner so to expect church goers to be perfect is sort of insane. It seems like the most self righteous people are the ones who think they're too "honest", or "noble", to be mixed up with the hypocrites.
Yup. But there too “sophisticated and intellectual” for churches anyway and that’s what really matters to them so who cares. Remember, these are the folks that needed to be told cleaning your room was a good thing, even if no one is watching you do it.😌
I was an ardent atheist for my entire youth. I read Dan Brown from a young age, and couldn't get over the atrocities of the church towards Enlightenment thinkers, Galileo, Giordano Bruno, and the Crusades - which propelled me into the firm grasp of the four horseman and atheist thinkers. Then I saw Aethesim devolve into atheism+. Now not believing in God was a community, and it came with a set of seemingly incoherent values that replaced the dogma of the church with its own faith in progressive ideology. At a dark point in my life, I came across your lecture series on Genesis and was recommended your book "12 Rules fo Life". Both were life-changing. To approach these didactic fables with optimism, rather than scorn and discontent, I learnt that these institutions I had grown to revile, despite their flaws, had unbelievable importance in preserving Judeo-Christian values. These were the moral bedrock upon which Western tradition was built. Furthermore, after reading "The Gulag Archipeligo", a suggestion from your reading list, I realized how far into hell a godless nation can fall. When those in charge answer to no one, and the divinity of the individual is forgotten, we raise hell on earth, and that hell is real. Now agnostic, and less judgemental of religious teachings, I see the value of preserving the traditions and culture of the past that has brought us this far. The Pharoh is part culture, part revolution, a delicate balance between order and chaos. I can no longer call myself an atheist because to hold that blind faith that I have definitive proof no god exists, is to fall into the same trap as the religious fundamentalists. I am open to new information, humbled by my ignorance, and in gratitude for the beauty and wisdom of a culture that transcends mortality from those dead who lived a life in service to something greater than themselves.
the first part of your comment is just hilarious, all of the supposed "attrocities' that the church commited are nothing more than poor 21 century internet conspiracy theories from small western english circles, you would be laughed out by literally every historian in the world for even suggesting that Galileo was persecuted by the church or that the crusades were something other than military campaigns
Grew up in the church depressed, took a break for a few years, went back and became depressed. Since I left again, i’m no longer depressed. Life is great as an agnostic.
Your videos have been instrumental in my return to the Church. Your genesis videos are profound. I would love to hear a similar psychological analysis of the stations of the cross.
Yes! When it suits the "woke" people, there is merely subjective difference between a man and a woman (biology, science, etc., don't matter), which is why no one should have an issue with the idea of transgenderism. On the other hand, they'll bend over backwards to put a woman in a powerful job just because she's a woman. Definitely insane, but it never occurs to an insane person that they might be insane...
I was raised Catholic, and received a very good education in Catholic schools. I began to doubt the faith at age 15, struggled with it, and by 20 concluded that I simply did not believe in the divinity of Jesus, and therefore could not go to church in good conscience. However, I would be deeply sad if Catholicism withered away and vanished. For all the church’s many, many flaws, it’s provided meaning and stability for billions of people over two millennia. We still need it, just like we still need other ancient religions to endure.
Our pastor refers to the church as a “hospital for sinners.” I think that’s a great perspective. The moment you begin to question any aspect of faith is the moment you should be in church, not the moment you leave because you can’t attend in good conscience. We don’t attend because we’re certain or perfect. We attend because we need it. I once heard Dr. Peterson say something to the effect that people ought not be Christian because they can’t hope to measure up to Christ. I thought that was one point that he utterly failed to understand. We don’t go to church only after we become perfect people-obviously not happening-we go because we need God, need faith, need the church to help lead us to more Christlike lives and stronger faith.
What you do need is Faith! I believe the teens and young adults are drowning without it. Why else are so many lost in drugs and suicide!!!because they are missing Hope. @@totallyanonymousbish9599
I’m personally agnostic but I was a devout Christian. I prayed everyday & have read through the Bible front to back over 2 times. I was rooted in the church. I was definitely a more selfless & kind man. I’m agnostic because I don’t believe in the gospel literally. But I still have a profound respect for the timeless wisdom in that book. And I fully support anyone who is Christian because I recognize the benefits. Edit: By benefits, I mean how it can make people more selfless, kind, humble, wise, etc. I wasn’t claiming that the point of Christianity is to seek self-gain. There’s a lot of “Christians” showing the downsides of religion in this comment section. “Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.” Right? Look at all of you so-called “Christians” casting judgement. Try embodying the book you claim to believe in. Hypocrites.
Praying, reading the bible and going to church does not make you a Christian. Believing that God exists does not make you a Christian. Even the demons believe.
@A.b.s God sees my journey, is with me whether I want him to be or not, and is said to have died on the cross for my sins, then he'd surely forgive the apparent sin of open-mindedness towards other ideas so long as I don't disparage him and his. I would say that I am a Christian but what the meaning of that is to me is between me and my God, I don't need to prove the nature of my faith to anyone besides myself. Have you considered the manner that you're addressing this apparent ally to your faith is only worsening the reputation of said faith? Because I even as a follower of God, find your methods entirely off-putting. And this goes for the other replies besides yours.
@A.b.s God cannot die. His human son died on the cross for humanity. Because of nonsense like "God died on the cross.." is exactly why there's no power in the gospel being preached today.
Same. I grew up in the church, but I don't believe in the supernatural anymore, partially as a result of watching Harris, Dawkins, and Hitchens in the early 2000s. Over the years however, I have come to the conclusion that getting rid of religion leaves a gaping hole in a society that will either be filled by another religion, or some post-modernist cult. I might have lost my faith in the supernatural, but I can observe that Abrahamic religions do produce a societal stability that a civilization can be built on; not sure if I can say the same for the gender fluid cults popping up in the west now.
Essentially what he's saying here is that going to church is better for us psychologically. Even if that were the case, that doesn't make one word of what is preached true. I'd rather live in an uncomfortable reality than a comfortable fantasy.
True. As a practicing orthodox Christian, I also feel "using" church solely for living a better life personally or in a community, without actually having a real faith or even as church fathers and orthodox theology insist on having the real experience, is something very damaging to one's soul. I don't understand how we need religion for life on earth, it's not meant for this purpose.
@@sharonleis1365 As long as there's an omnipotent God watching over us, supposedly giving us choices, but punishing us for making the wrong choice, then we aren't really free, are we.
@@davidbroughall3782 perhaps the theology that God can't wait to punish us is wrong. It is man's teaching but the whole bible is, we are made in God's image and he says we are his children whether we believe in him or not.
If you think Christianity is comfortable, you do not understand true Christianity. St. Theodore of Pherme once said, “I have worn the monastic habit for 70 years, and on no day have I found peace.” Orthodoxy thrives in tension and paradox.
To borrow a technique that Dr. Peterson is so fond of: what exactly do you mean by "church"? There are many more kinds of church than Peterson describes in this video. There are many churches in the United States that are the exact opposite of what he describes. There are churches in the United States that weekly sow fear, mistrust, anger, and hatred against anyone who is "other" than they are.
Well, that's for each of us to discriminate. I suggest reading the Bible in an unbiased way (particularly the "New Testament") and comparing its teachings with what religions teach. A simple test: the Our Father prayer. Jesus teaches there what the most important things are. 'Our Father, may your Name be sanctified'. Look for a church that places the santifcation of God's Name in the FIRST PLACE, above all else. 'May your Kingdom come'. Find a church dedicated to teaching what God's Kingdom is. 'May your will be done on Earth'. Find a church that cares, not about what is socially trendy, or about politics, or about today's moral values, but about GOD'S will. One that upholds His views as written in the Scriptures, even if that goes completely against the current.
This is a fair point. I’m Anglican, formerly evangelical Southern Baptist. The megachurch style of worship that looks like a business conference mixed with opening concert is a far cry from traditional Christian liturgy and worship. When I encourage people to get back into church, especially Christians who have stopped attending, I’m specifically encouraging them to find a traditional church with meaningful worship and, God willing, true preaching.
Dr. Peterson, I am praying for your conversion to the Catholic faith and have been for a while now. By the way, how did your meeting go with Dr. Peter Kreeft?
@@esterhudson5104 😂 One, I'm a Sis! 😂🤣 Two, I'm not pulling your leg. It's true. I would have to do a search for such video if Peterson has such video.
I went to church for the first time today because I always avoided it, thinking the institution is broken. I've always been a Christian and this video was literally a Godsent it answered all my questions about the importance of attending church as a Christian. Thank you Mr. Peterson for being a vessel from God and helping other people make sense of this world.
As an atheist, I support the idea of going to church (which I do). I thought I was in an extreme super-minority, so it's nice to find out I'm not alone.
This doesn't surprise me and I admire your commitment to support and do what you perceive as good in the world. I went back to church in my late 20's quaking in my shoes. I was so scared without really knowing why. I was listening to apologetics which I actually don't like now, but I believe it's a response to a call and I was seeking understanding. I don't like apologetics because it implies without stating it that you can reason yourself to faith. Reasons to believe help but it's not it. Faith is a gift that God gives and only He knows the moment He will give it. This was actually what I experienced because one moment it wasn't there and the next moment it was and I knew I didn't give it to myself. For me it happened at a culminating moment when in the face of all the different truths out there, I knew I wasn't qualified to decide which one was It. I just thought that if there's more than one then there can't be one and everything is up for grabs. Maybe I could say it was the moment I realized that only a loving God can Be Truth and endure all the different versions His people can come up with. Maybe it's the moment I realized the truth according to me isn't it and it freed me to let God be God and He ever faithful and good gladly seated Himself on the throne of my heart. :) There's no other explanation.
@@CR-tj4ig I like to think I'm supporting and being a part of the community. I attend what's probably the largest church in the area. I'm certainly not trying to make anyone else into an atheist, and I keep my mouth shut on the subject (except when talking with the head guy, just to explain myself). The community is more important than the individual, and the community is religious. And since it's only the religious who are having children at or above replacement levels, it'll continue to be the case. I prefer to be part of a growing and thriving community than an individual trying to make it on m y own. If the group was Amish or similar, I'd be growing a beard. -- something like that.
Wow, I’m not an atheist but I find myself opposed to nearly all mainstream doctrine. Some of which ,can only be described as pure evil and therefore counter productive to human well being or the ability to worship God. Perhaps you are way more noble than me for being able to set aside your differences .
Wow this is so moving to me. I went to Catholic Church with my husband when we met as teenagers. Joined the church in my 20’s. We were very active in the church when we lived in Indiana. When we moved to California in 2003 I tried to find a good fit but it’s not the same here! Unfortunately I quit going and regret it now. I’ve got to go back because I miss it. Your video gave me the kick in the pants that I needed. God bless you Jordan Peterson!🙏🏼❤️
I say to the students in all sincerity, there is no possible way of attaining a quality or a desired attribute without claiming it. In order for an individual to consciously let go of a thing, he must have something that he feels is stronger to which he can anchor. As students become conscious of this, the confidence and strength will come to them to take the step.
I heard a good reason from a guy: he said he goes to church now and then to remind himself that the universe isn't all about him. Life isn't all about me, my problems, I'm not actually the central concern of the world. Sometimes an hour in a church service can be a reminder that there are actually bigger things than 'me, me and me'. I'd say that's a good reason to go to church once in a while.
Quick question, Jordy....If the church is broken how can we fix it? How can we fix an institution known for claiming they are in posession of absolute truth, meanwhile not only they have absolutely no evidence to support their claims, but their method of arriving to said claims are demonstrably flawed?
Matthew 18 contains that answer. see how the lesson at the end of that chapter, plays into the story of Acts 15. I’m trying to find the answer too, not claiming to know it, but it seems this expression of the democratic process is the purest I’ve ever encountered
Every Sunday i go to church for a few hours. This is going on for a few weeks and honest to God... My life has changed. I have no ideea why, but trulley my life has changed in a better way, i can feel things differently now and i never thought this is what will happen
your life has changed because you now didn't do what you used to on those Sundays, you lost what hobbies you spent that time on, the friends you spent that time with...
One of the reasons church is important is because it gives you structure and discipline. Literal and spiritual. Even temporal - you have to get up by 9 o'clock every Sunday, and if you miss one Sunday, you miss them all, so it's no mean feat. I'm a Zen Buddhist but I go to church from time to time so as I don't become too cocky.
I appreciate your comment. I struggle very much with reconciling my eastern spiritual preferences in a judeo-christian society. Everybody wants to prescribe the "xyz" you must believe this tenants. I'm trying to find my relationship with Jesus outside of the crazies that tell me the world is only 6000 years old lol, and I think we could agree that the fundamental experiences of YHWH's presence and Zazen are the same communion with the ultimate. That relationship doesn't have to rest on literal interpretations of scripture but on a direct experience that can be had and appreciated. Thank you for sharing sir!
The Bible is too genius and too accurate to have been written by anyone other than God. Jesus is the Truth. Give your life to Him and have your sins forgiven so that you live with Him forever in paradise. Don't wait because you don't know if you will have another moment. This opportunity will not be available forever time is running out very quickly my friends give Jesus a chance He won't let you down!
the bIble is too genius thats why it says the earth’s plants are older than the sun even though it is proven the Sun is older than the Earth itself! This alone is enough to destroy christianity and Judaism, however interestingly this along with many other Scientific mistakes from the Bible are eerily missing from the Qur’an, even though many claim the Qur’an copied the Bible. How did the Copier differentiate between the mistakes and truths of the Bible? Only Allah knows.
My dad gave this to me today. It's the best declaration of a true Christian I've ever read. "I declare that I am in love with Jesus Christ. He is the center of my life. My love for Him consumes me and motivates every part of my life. I started out in the fire of God, and I will end in the fire of God. I allow the Holy Spirit to search my heart regularly to reveal my true spiritual state. I REFUSE TO BECOME DOCTRINALLY SOPHISTICATED YET POWERLESS AND IRRELEVANT. I confess that I am overwhelmed with the love of Jesus. My heart is increasingly captivated by Him. Every day, every week, and every year that passes, I grow more deeply in love with Him. Soon I'll meet Him face to face. Each morning I awaken with greater determination to live my life for that moment when I look into His loving eyes. Oh, what a day that will be ---but until then, I want to be consumed with His fire!" In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
Religion is crazy, until you experience the supernatural for the first time. Then you reflect and realize there have been dozens of times when you dismissed less obvious experiences. If that ever happens to jp, it’s going to be very interesting.
The day i truly gained faith was when i had watched a few videos about Catholicism (im not Catholic) and the guy was was talking about how for good to exist evil must also otherwise it would be a authoritarian "paradise hell" and that god will not stop atrocious or disasters for that reason, but he will send small summons in the form of "warm embracing winds" of which the next day i experienced. I was walking my dog, the sun was shining, air clearer than glass and i felt this wind swoop over me in a single bellow like a silk gaseous waterbed hot bottle! I have never in my life felt such a strange feeling, like the smells you smell in vague dreams of which you have never smelt and never will again.. I now try everday to genuinely follow gods volition, its hard but that is what makes it special.
This is really true..I used to be an atheist until I experienced a miracle in my own life. People may scoff at it...but I find their perspectives to be in the spirit of trying to get one over on you, instead of trying to actually understand. I am actively trying to accept that fact for myself.
There are people of all religions who calim to have experience something supernatural. Personal experiences can't be considered when finding truth since a single person can easily be tricked.
My answer to Jordan is: We scrape away that which does not serve a beneficial function in the current age, keep what works, and find new ways to implent what used to work and now doesn't. We do not have to keep the whole guilt-tripping, kiddie-fiddling thing.
I'm a hard headed rationalist and atheist, yet there's always something deep within me that relates to theism and the Christian ideas of redemption and the after life. Noone can really accuse religion of being shallow.
Aaaah, so good to see the answer to prayers of so many for Jordan. He has sooo much wisdom but needs to be SAVED by the blood of JESUS, filled with HOLY SPIRIT, and let The Father hold him in HIS ARMS. He is much like Paul on the road. This will happen.
No you WANT him to be saved just so you can see a hero of yours validate your own beliefs. Christianity may have good morals and intentions but it’s not fact. God doesn’t like bigots
I'm 46, don't believe in anything, but I'm starting to think that people who do are much happier. I might change my mind. 🤣👍🏼 * Update: I've joined the United Church of Bacon. Praise the Lard! 🥳
Hope that you change soon there’s not mutch time left for the world we have now, the events are happening and escalating exactly like the bible said it would, Jesus paid the price for us, but only if you want and accept in your free will, will make the difference for you. God bless you.
I really like JP’s edgier attitude these days - obviously he has always been courageous and has shown remarkable and outstanding patience with various idiots and idiotic ideologues over the last five years or so - but now there is something different about him - it is also remarkable that his daughter ( who until a short time ago I found irritating ) has had a transformative Christian awakening of sorts - she just seems way less vain now- humble and relaxed. That in itself is a testimony. As the world stumbles around violently and blindly in the dark the light of God’s grace will shine even brighter. PS - the Sacraments are real and efficacious. Many of us today are egomaniacs and defiant rebels who want to assert our own wills and have things go our way but God is real and His way is really the only way to any kind of internal and external peace and happiness; that is my experience and what I’ve observed in my reading and lived experience. Peace -
I spent most of my adult life in the spiritual but not religious camp. Then I realized that was a position for people trying to hedge their bets. It's like being a little bit pregnant. There is a line from a movie where the character asks: "If you were accused of being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?" I thought about that and had to admit the evidence in my case would be pretty thin. I'm trying to fix that. That is step one because I can't fix anything if my personal relationship with God is lukewarm at best. I enjoy Mass a great deal because it gets me closer to that desired end-state. It's not some life altering experience every time out and that's okay. For me, there are no bad moments in God's house and at His banquet table. He sent everyone an invite before we even came into being. I wish more people would take Him up on it. I feel for those who deny themselves God's grace.

I'm going to church with my family every sunday. Because the ritual and the community matters. I don't think, that christianity is factually true. But it's damn useful!
Your video the other day, "A Message to the Christian Churches", was the tipping poing for me to go back to church. I'm still not convinced that God actually exists, but I see great value in your framing of "acting as though He does exist". The "debased mind" of the unbeliever and the "giving over" to every form of self-serving persuit is pervasive in our society, and whether or not God exists, the Bible has turned out to be much more accurate about many things I'd have given it credit for a few years ago. I've come around to the point where I'm willing to take the teachings of Christianity and the millenia of compiled wisdom they represent seriously. Who knows, God may even decide to give me something that truly convinces me of His existence at some point along this path. Thank you for spurring me to action over the years, I'm in a better place every day for it.
Mom’s Last Gift By Michael Biggs I thank you all for coming to my Mother’s celebration of life ceremony. You know, Mom really had a way of bringing everyone together. She may have been small in stature but she had the biggest heart of any person I’ve ever known. She loved her family and as most of you know it wasn’t always the easiest for her growing up. She was the oldest of 9, I believe, siblings and a lot of the time she was the mother figure to them growing up while my grandparents both worked. She never complained about it though and loved them all with all of her heart. She loved my Dad and us boys as well. Growing up in an Army family wasn’t always easy but we made it work. She always made it feel like home where ever we were. I remember one Christmas in Germany she went all out and decorated the entire house. She would have Christmas tunes on the cassette player and we would dance in the living room. She devoted her life to her family and my Dad. She had odd jobs here and there but it wasn’t until I was in high school that she decided to take on a career of her own. She started as a pharmacy technician and then got another degree to become a Medical Lab Scientist. I am so proud of my Mother. She could have coasted life out and rode on my Dad’s achievements but she didn’t go that route. Before she passed she was processing cells for cancer patients at Baylor Scott and White. She would remove the cells and treat them with chemotherapy to then give back to the patients. She set the standard and was someone to look up to. Mom loved Jesus Christ. Up until about a month ago I was searching for what I believed in. I called myself an “Athiest” but I don’t think that is intellectually honest. I was afraid. Mom and I used to have these heated debates about whether God existed or not. I would watch a video by some athiest and come to her with my points. She never faltered in her faith and I always respected her for that. I promised her back in 2009 when I was deployed to Iraq that I would read the Bible if she read the entire Twilight series (yup I’m a nerd). She lived up to her promise but I never did. When she went to the ER and I called my brother who had tears in his eyes I knew that this was serious. I got down on my knees right then and there and for the first time in my life I began to pray in earnest for my mother to be healed. I went and tried to read my King James version Bible that my Great Uncle Merle had given me back in 2006 but it was like trying to read a foreign language. So I went and bought a New International Version to read instead. To be honest when I first started reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John about the life of Jesus it was out of guilt. But as I began to read more and more each day I began to know who Jesus truly was. Not the pop culture ideology that I had in my head but the real and true God made flesh. So I am here to tell you that my Mom gave me many gifts on this Earth. She gave me love, compassion, a hard work ethic, strength, and knowledge but the greatest gift she ever gave me was helping to lead me to Jesus Christ. I am here to testify before you now that he is my Lord and Savior. I believe he came to Earth, lived a perfect life, died on the Cross for the sins of all mankind, was risen from the dead three days later and if you truly believe these things in your heart that you will receive the gift of eternal life through God’s grace! He answered my prayers to heal my Mom just not the way I wanted. He healed her truly and completely and brought her to be with him in Heaven so that she would no longer suffer. So Mom I will still cry from time to time but they are tears of joy because I miss you. But I know now in my heart of hearts that I will see you again. So keep Grandma and Grandpa Punches, and Great Uncle Merle company up there for me. Just know that I love you with all my heart and this isn’t goodbye forever, only until I see you again.
I'm an atheist, but I agree with Mr Peterson, we need some thing... something like secular philosophy, ethics, psychology, firm logic and kindness, empathy ... if each and every one of us have these as base from young age, do we need all the fluff and razzle dazzle, or we'll be a species of naturally spiritual and balanced philosophers?
This. Except philosophy will never be able to be grounded in a naturalistic world. We need God to ground metaphysics. But you're heading in the right direction, friend. "Morality is not found under a microscope" Consider David Hume's question on induction, uniformity of nature, and the is-ought distinction.
@@AwesomeWholesome - Very well put. I am not Christian, but I do believe (but do not know) in a creator. I don’t know how I define ‘creator’ in this context…and that is a problem. Because (1) I find it impossible to argue against the idea that the following ideas are magical/supernatural: (a) something is eternal, or (b) something came from nothing AND (2) because nature shows itself to have directionality when it comes to life (inorganic to organic to conscious to intelligent)… it seems logical to postulate that something supernatural made the universe and wants life to develop. Those are deist observations and an entire morality can be derived from those observations.

Do you yourself attend church?
As an atheist I can see the value of the church and its belief system and stories, myths and teaching. I see the reality of say Christianity as the effect of a society that has been taught the values of Christianity and how that society behaves because of those beliefs. That is real. The manifestation of Christianity is how a society that has Christian beliefs behaves. I would rather live in a Christian society than an atheist society because it would be a safer, friendlier, happier place to live in.
I go to the ark church in Maize , Ks . You should look it up. You can move raise hands , yell lol . Hope you continue your journey I'm still on mine .
Methinks you know NOTHING about Religion! STICK TO YOUR LANE PETERSON!!! 🥊
He was a man whose tongue held no lies,
For he was the direct descendant of our father in the heavenly skies.
Born to a body of fleshy sin,
Though what laid beneath was unlike the rest of his kin.
Jesus had the utmost grace,
Never being wavered by evils face.
He was wise beyond any years,
Performing miracles that would bring crowds to tears.
A beacon of light on top of a starless mountain,
Where words of wisdom poured out of him as if there ran a cosmic fountain.
His eyes pierced through you with a single glance,
Leaving even the most hardened individuals in quite the trance.
The Holy Spirit so ever majestically flowed inside this man,
Naturally people caught notice and became a fan.
Students began showing up from every mold,
When they heard his words their hearts were sold.
Wicked men put a price on Jesus's head,
He was wanted alive or dead.
Despite this he and his disciples continued their teachings,
Where on occasion they endured terrible beatings.
One of the twelve apostles turned to black,
No longer having Jesus's back.
Judas Iscariot had done Satan's bidding,
And it is in hell where he now is sitting.
Jesus died on the cross to pay for our shortcoming,
However don't be saddened for if you believe in him you will see him at your homecoming.
There he sits at the right hand of God's throne,
Being the voice of truth and love that we all have known.
Satan's tongue is coated in a layer of deceit,
And he tramples over promises with his feet.
He's a being who is bound by deceptions,
Whose very essence oozes with misconceptions.
He struggles to look you in your eyes,
For his gaze holds nothing but lies.
On occasion he will give you his hand,
But don't be fooled by his stand.
He seeks to corrupt your heart,
You would be wise to avoid him from the start.
Seeking quick pleasures and casting aside love,
He traverses this land with push and shove.
Now Lucifer was once not lost,
But pride blinded him at a cost.
Disobeying God he waged war,
Becoming detestable to the core.
Today he is the ruler of Earth,
Though for all his power he has no real worth.
However most of us have still been sold,
Giving into sin and becoming cold.
Nearly everyone is a puppet dancing on strings,
Marching to delusion for their unjust kings.
My people have given into lust,
Becoming robots full of rust.
However you my child are the exception,
So when you meet me don't forget to mention.
That you alone have been granted the key,
And before your glory they shall all bend a knee.
I will forever praise Jesus, and idc how crazy it may sound to some.
great story, thank you for sharing!
this would've sounded crazy to me a year ago, but God came into my life recently as well in the most unexplainable and overwhelming of ways. I am touched by your story. God bless you and yours
I like your story. But I'm still in the atheïstic phase. So don't forget to praise Mohammed for the role he played in saving you and your child. And damn the Devil for making all those other people die in the ICU, he is a very bad bad man.
What I am trying to say;
Religion is a way for us to deal with reality.
Many pregnant Christian women died. Why?
This is touching. It is, really. But there is a DEEP part of me that blanches at, "Those other people died and I didn't. I guess God has something special for me." So, what...? He was smoking in the men's room while those other people were dying...? I find this type of quiet arrogance profoundly unsettling. It is good that you are alive, and I'm glad you are back with "family", but these kinds of celebrations...I dunno. Humans seek to find order amidst chaos.
Brilliant.
The Father, Uncle, Brother, Cousin, Friend I never had.
Well put. I hope you have a wonderful happy day.
He is the archetype of the wise old man.
Truly.

@@bryant475 Ah! I’ve already been born again! The Holy Spirit has come! Thank you for the offer of conversion, but I am very much satisfied with the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist! And will never leave that behind!
So, you unequivocally support the trauma that the Catholic Church has perpetually committed against the human society?
As a Orthodox Christian there are many reason to attend church. I myself have had so many positive things happened to me from a low point in my life where i actually prayed for things and they came true. I go to give thanks and praise. Sure I can thank God from my bedroom but I believe making the effort to actually go shows my gratitude. Also people go for many other reasons...people who are lonely will met other people that understand and want to reach out to you......God made church for his flock...he doesn't need the church the building but he wants the people to help other people ....the church is people not the bricks and mortar.
And don't forget the Eucharist! The Living Bread.
@@TheLifeProTips Really? Living Bread? Are we really going to act like that thing is the body of a magic carpenter boy? I mean....you can play this all you want, but by what right do you claim that your thing is special?
@@LeonardLeon Yes. A difficult starting point topic if you aren’t even a Christian, but even Jesus’s own disciples had difficulty with it, as it is written: “When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?” 61 But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you?(B) 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?(C) 63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But among you there are some who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe and who was the one who would betray him.(D) 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father.”(E)
66 Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. 67 So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

@Apple Account s Good reference.
Bible studies are something extraordinary at times.
Choosing a life without the church is not choosing a life without God.
Please don't conflate the two.

Christians and Muslima alike MUST drop all violent texts calling for harm to be erased from your doctrin. There is no need for the barbarism thatvis still enthralled in those holy books, both the Bible and Quran.
“ ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’ c ”
10Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
Matthew 15:8-11
28A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
Romans 2:28-29
People underestimate the logic and rationality of the Bible. It’s because it isn’t earthly, we don’t recognise it until we read and think with a spiritual mind that isn’t founded on material physics and the familiar world we know. All the best to you ✝️
@@wondering_stars_in_oz8462 Circumcision is a procedure that removes the foreskin from the human penis. In the most common form of the operation, the foreskin is extended with forceps, then a circumcision device may be placed, after which the foreskin is excised. How exactly are you going to circumcise the heart? It’s plain and simple fact that Jesus, the son of Mary was circumcised on the 8th day after his birth.
SO WONDERFUL TO HAVE THIS MAN SHARE HIS WISDOM !
I see he is still searching. We all go down many roads and think that it is the correct one only to find out that it was not the correct road. The 24/7 personal walk and relationship with the Most High is an ongoing, never ending, continuous learning journey, because none of us has all the answers. That is why Jesus/Yeshua stated "Let every man work out his own salvation with fear and trembling before the Most High."
He created us each differently. We each see things through different eyes and different opinions and should not compare ourselves with anyone else for we each are unique in our own way. You can assemble without it being in a building. For we are the "Temple" of the Most High. And "wherever two or three gather together in my name, There I am also." Be Blessed!

Aww thank you so much friend. Jesus has granted me many supernatural abilities which I'm trying to use for the good of mankind. There's a lot on my shoulders to say the least; to whom much is given much is required. But I truly feel blessed to be so close to our father. When the storm came (and what a storm it was) Jesus guided me through and gave me the strength needed to persevere. Indeed the gates of hell didn't prevail, despite throwing its fiercest onslaught my way. Now that I have some time to catch my breath and reflect on what just occurred I'm doing my best to return the favor and pouring out my spirit in hopes of evangelizing the world and setting the stage for the Lord's second coming.
P.S.- Indeed those poems were written by me.

You would think the god they worship would've found better leaders within the first millennia. And a way to get rid of the pedophiles.
Not being a human institution still leaves a couple options.
Thank you for joining us for Mass while you were on campus!
In October of 1998 I said that I will never, never, ever leave my Catholic faith again. 24 years later I am still thinking and saying the same. I can not be brainwashed when I know the RAW UNFILTERED TRUTH. Now, thank God that I am able to attend The Traditional Latin Mass. God bless you Doctor Peterson. Thank you so much for everything you do. I really appreciate it. I am so thankful for people like you who speaks the truth.
Never leave the Catholic faith! Im with you! God bless you!
Church really saved me. But I only dared enter one after I had read the Bible. My thought was… “is this that?” 20 something years on I’m so grateful for the amazing people who have loved me though my brokenness. Taught me, pushed me and opened new pathways for me.
There are many amazing churches out there. We need eyes to see the kingdom of God.
Pray and work this stuff out!
Thanks JP

@22yomale (1) Q: “why do you label your values as Christian?”
A: Because they are. Nothing exists in a vacuum and everything has an origin. I’d strongly suggest you study the history of western philosophy (Ben Shapiro’s ‘The Right Side of History’ is an excellent starting point)
(2) “I’m an atheist and I have no values”.
And true Faith even more superior, probably, as it brings you closer to the biggest truth of all, God.

the best 6 minutes and 12 seconds that I spent today. Brilliant!
Better chose Buddhism or any other religion.

There's something cathartic about Dr. Peterson's speech of truth. It brings laughter largely because it's just so nakedly true.
2:45 This will be quoted or paraphrased by many, myself included. Great point. "We have to have a woman! But there's no such thing as a woman"
We don't need religion.
Come back, brother. Jesus is God. Your emotions are liars.

Good one Mr. Peterson. Thank you for all that you do.
Even the demons believe.
you dont recognize anything if you think its about benefitting
You are free to live as uncomfortablely as you wish. God always gives us choices.
@@sharonleis1365 As long as there's an omnipotent God watching over us, supposedly giving us choices, but punishing us for making the wrong choice, then we aren't really free, are we.

1000% facx
Don't ever mix the actions of humans for God's doing
Dr. Peterson, I am praying for your conversion to the Catholic faith and have been for a while now.
By the way, how did your meeting go with Dr. Peter Kreeft?

As an atheist, I support the idea of going to church (which I do). I thought I was in an extreme super-minority, so it's nice to find out I'm not alone.
Why do you go?
I also thought it was a minority, you're not alone anymore my friend, by the way, what church do you go to?
Wow this is so moving to me. I went to Catholic Church with my husband when we met as teenagers. Joined the church in my 20’s. We were very active in the church when we lived in Indiana. That's good news

Missed you a lot Mr Peterson! We love you very much
As a Catholic, I approve of this message. Haha! But seriously, this was PERFECTLY stated by Dr. Jordan Peterson.
The Bible is too genius and too accurate to have been written by anyone other than God. Jesus is the Truth. Give your life to Him and have your sins forgiven so that you live with Him forever in paradise. Don't wait because you don't know if you will have another moment. This opportunity will not be available forever time is running out very quickly my friends give Jesus a chance He won't let you down!

why it says the earth’s plants are older than the sun even though it is proven the Sun is older than the Earth itself!
Oh, what a day that will be ---but until then, I want to be consumed with His fire!"
In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
I've had many supernatural experiences. None made me swallow obvious fairy tales.

@Pale O'Pterix , exactly! Many people can do it but not critical thinkers.
Don't need God, thanks!

Mom’s Last Gift
By Michael Biggs
I thank you all for coming to my Mother’s celebration of life ceremony.
"Morality is not found under a microscope"
Consider David Hume's question on induction, uniformity of nature, and the is-ought distinction.
@@AwesomeWholesome - Very well put. I am not Christian, but I do believe (but do not know) in a creator. I don’t know how I define ‘creator’ in this context…and that is a problem.
Because (1) I find it impossible to argue against the idea that the following ideas are magical/supernatural: (a) something is eternal, or (b) something came from nothing AND (2) because nature shows itself to have directionality when it comes to life (inorganic to organic to conscious to intelligent)…
it seems logical to postulate that something supernatural made the universe and wants life to develop. Those are deist observations and an entire morality can be derived from those observations.
