I had a chance to visit Andy's home in Manteo NC a couple of years ago. It was great to see and touch some of his treasures he collected over the years!
Thank you for posting this! What a treasure this video is. Just a friendly fyi (and probably just a typo) but Andy's hometown is spelled 'Manteo', NC.
Wow I thought his wife burn it down. At least that's what she said she was going to do.
She did take it down and built a new home. But the out buildings and pool are still the same. A lot of his toys are in those buildings
"Thank you for posting this most wonderful video of my favorite show of all time! What a glorious time that must have been! I was kind of bummed to hear that that lake had all dried out...GREATEST SHOW EVER--> CLEAN, NO CUSSING, NO INNUENDOS, NO 'MESSEGES', NO POLITICS(except of course when Ellie ran for office and Barney ran against Andy! Lol!)....just one of those rarities one could watch over and over again!"
That would have been fun
😪I wish so much we could go back to those days .
I absolutely LOVE every episode . I must have watched each episode 100 times. I'm not even exaggerating. 🇺🇸
I'm 57 years old still
Watch it everyday
I'm going to be sixty in a couple of weeks and I still watch it almost everyday, it's wholesome and not like the garbage that is made now.
So do I, every night
I watched it every night, Feb 1 tv schedule got changed and now startrek is on ...☹️ I'm not happy about this.
49 yrs old and it's what I look forward to weeknights 7-8 pm thanks to METV.
Cool
Those were the days ! ! Curled up on the floor watching Andy , Opie , Aunt Bea and Barney ! I loved it then and love it still . Simpler times simpler people . Nothing will ever replace that time in space . Thanks Mayberry residents , you live in me still ! ! . . 💞🌹
I had the opportunity to see Andy's home in Manteo A few years ago. I wish all of you could see it!
@@goodguy401960 How nice ! I admired Andy (the real Andy). I think he was a decent man , Ron Howard as well . You just didn't hear bad thing about them coming out of Hollywood . (Not an easy thing to do).. . 🤷 . 😁
Priceless, epic nothing comes close to expressing the feelings I have for this show.
Unlike so many child actors, never heard anything bad about Ron Howard. His dad just passed away a couple of years ago. Glad he lived long enough to see his son become a big Hollywood director and win an Academy award.
One of the greatest if not the greatest show of all time. So tired of living in a big metropolis. I have always fantasized about living in a small town like Mayberry. Problem is the town is fictional and I have yet to find one like it. If anyone knows of a real town like Mayberry in the US comment below. I’m sure there is one out there somewhere. I’m still open to the move. 👍
Thanks to the Howard family for sharing that wonderful piece of history and realism, just goes to show how different things were in those days and how well behaved children were and how proper the adults were with them, Nobody's drinking. There's no drugs. , everybody's dressed in a suit. Neat clean, presentable. Can It be like that again?
I’m 64 yrs old and have been watching it continuously from the 60’s through TODAY!!! Ron Howard Sr was a genius!
I LOVE THE MUSIC IN THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
More exciting than color episodes of the show.
I really hope kids are still watching this show today.
still watch this show in 2020..Good to see Ron howard's little brother on set
Awesome
Quite literally the Greatest Show of all time to be on T.V. I was watching a political panel discussion where they all disagreed on everything. But when someone mentioned Andy Griffith they all smiled and instantly became nice to each other and they all sgreed on this topic. Amazing.
"I made the same comment just a few minutes before I read yours....Amen!"
What a great time to be a kid.
Wonderful people from the past that we'll never see again Ever Period!!!!!
The Golden Age of television!!
It is nice to see what the cast and the crew did between various takes on the sets of The Andy Griffith Show. I have to thank the Howard family for these fine home movies.
Seeing Ron and his little brother just amazing.
Im 21 and I was gladly introduced and grew up watching reruns of this show💯
You can see Ron Howard paying attention and soaking in the process of filming and directing.
I will be 57 years old tomorrow February 17th born in 1963 but this is still one of my favorite TV shows to this very day
i watched that show as a kid and that;s the america i remember . I am Canadian , america sure has changed !
It almost felt as if I was watching a family video. Everyone looked so happy. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching behind the scenes on any tv show
loved it where (2:32) Ron was helping Clint into the trailer..
I live n NC..I am a native of NC as well. I'm 43yrs old and I grew up on ALL the Black/White tv show & I Still watch them to this day. It's a hell of a lot better than the crap they're putting on TV now. TV shows back then had meaning to it.❤❤❤
This show has been an all time favorite of mine. At the age of 53 we watch at least 3 episodes everyday and warms our hearts to know what true American values were, share in the love for the AGS. For the younger parents, get them watching shows like this, keep the memories going and perhaps someone in Hollywood will figure out what America is all about and produce a modern version of good wholesome family values!
texmexexpress 72 glad to hear our youth finds value in such a classic family show touching on what is truly important. Keep watching and encourage all your friends.
Oh if I could go back in time and be right there with them. What a sweet, pure, wholesome time that will never be again, so sad!
U mean when Hollywood still had some morals. Classless crap now days
Maybe...Andy had an affair with Helen Crump actress
You do realize Jim Neighbors was gay. Was it wholesome because they just had him play a straight character? Hollywood has never been wholesome, it's always been a lot of degenerates. Always will be.
You know what has some really nasty and unwholesome people? The Trump administration.
@@erikb8979 I heard that fife was gay
The music and the show gives me great memories from I was a kid in the 60’s visiting my family in Coalinga, Ca.
Wow Ron looks so much like his dad! So cool !
Thank you Ron Howard for amazing shows
Love it... Andy was a Great story teller.. Wish I could sit on a bank, fish, and talk to Andy, Don, Ronny and the rest. I have a lot of favorites. I guess if I had one it would be Mr, McBeavey (?) episode. I have my 3 yr old granddaughter that watches the show with me. Now a choice between sponge-bob and Andy Griffith she always says Andy. I think she has a crush on Opie. Great show... Until recently, I did not know that Bill Bixby (Hulk), Bob Denver (Gillian), Barbara Eden (Jeanie), Sterling Holloway (voice of Pooh), Denver Pyle (Uncle Jesse, DoHazzard), Buddy Ebsen (Uncle Jed Clampett) and a lot of others played parts on the show. I recently saw and didn’t realize that Elinor “Ellie Walker” Donahue played the lady who helped Julia Roberts get her clothes in Pretty Woman...
Ron Howard's dad was an actor too. He is so young in these films.
Am I weird for actually tearing up watching this? Wow. The memory of a much better time on this earthly plane are astounding. I wanna go back. Thx.
I'm from 82 and am sad that they don't make shows like this anymore. Greetings from Holland
It's all about reality shows now, in with you on this !
Thank you Howard family!
How great is this!
Thank you so much for posting this. What a treat it is to have a look back behind the scenes and see the people who created the characters they portrayed. Even without sound, you can still see them as real people. I've been all over Upper Franklin Canyon Reservoir, and it's nothing like it was back then. Access is restricted mostly to the paved roads they've made through there, and I'm not even sure you can get to the spot where they filmed the opening scenes for the show. Such a shame, because it's the one beautiful nook of the San Fernando Valley that's tucked away from all the filth and excessive development, and they don't let you have a picnic by the reservoir anymore. A lot has changed in that region of L.A since then. The United States was still largely rural at that time, and The Andy Griffith Show reflected an America that MOST people related to.Thanks again for this. :-)
Simply beautiful l!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Cheers!
I grew up in a town very much like Mayberry. It was an ideal childhood ♥️
It's almost a thing of the past! We had a different way of life!
Wonderful ... thank you very much indeed.
These people are all so familiar to us, that it's like watching our own home movies. Thank you to the Howard family for sharing their precious moments with us!
So this was shared by the Howards!
@@aslan9334 That was my impression from reading other's comments. Whoever did it, thank you.
Still one of the best shows on TV
Simpler times in life, lived it, miss it also...
Rance was a good man who took care of his boys and didnt steal their money. Brought them up well
Beautiful family.
I heard that as well.
Also was there every minute to make sure neither of his kids suffered any of the kinds of abuses that other child actors did/do! Which is why they both are well adjusted adults and Ron has gone on to be one of the most successful people in show business as an adult.
That's true. :)
That’s wonderful.
I love that show. Brings back memories.
It was a wonderful show which had many life lessons infused in it. So many fond memories...
I miss all of them. I miss my childhood so much.
Very good behind-the-scenes 📹 video....with Andy and the gang
Even Clint Howard was in it.....
Five Stars...
Thank you so much Howard family for sharing your personal home video.
One of my favorite shows! DVR all of them! Good wholesome fun!
Priceless footage!
This makes me want to cry but tears of happiness!😢😄
Thanks so much for sharing. A joy to watch this chilly, sleepless, night in Texas.
Our pleasure!
One of my favorite episodes of Andy Griffith.
Great video shots!! Thanks much, Howard Family.
Thank you Ron Howard, for the great memories, and special thanks to MeTV for bringing back the “ wholesome “ in TV.....Kudos
Ron Howard was one of the few child actors back then that actually had a good time. I wish they made these shows now, they're classic. Now we get stuff like the Connors.
People simply different now so that will Never happen again... SAD
My great grandmother was the stunt double for Aunt Bee. Whenever Aunt Bee had to jump over a fence, crash a car or lift a heavy turkey she stepped in to do the shot. I have such wonderful memories of watching her on set.
I don't recall Aunt Bee ever jumping over a fence--funny thought!
The one where Aunt Bea learns to drive. The stunt double driving the car looks like a man.
@@daviddoyle543 I hope you're not saying that they grandmother look like a man LOL
@@antonybrown432 no it's just the stunt double looks like a man. If you can pull up the episode either on you tube or Netflix. You'll see what I mean. 😀
Which episode is it
Great to see behind-the-scenes especially of my favorite episode, Barney's First Car with Hubcaps Lesh!
Thankyou, to the Howard family for their fun home movies, God bless them all, for bringing laughter into peoples hearts and homes. They were a class act. Their sons Ron Howard and Clint Howard are fine gentlemen and are also a class act to follow their example today. Thankyou, Kevin Phoenix
This must have been shot by Ron Howard's mom. This is amazing footage! Such a great and timeless show with a stellar cast. Sadly a time long gone.
Love this show! Seen all seasons 3 times!
I was born in 1953 in Whittier California. I was a big fan of the Andy Griffith show as that time period was my time period for growing up. Also loved the themed music! Great video!
best show ever been on television period !!!!
Takes me back to my childhood in the late 60’s when my brother and i would watch the show in our black and white tv set and my brother would whistle with the music at the ending credits... My brother looked and behaved and had same demeanor as Andy Griffith, sadly my brother is no longer in my life
this is pure gold.
The old back 40 at the Culver City desilu lot. Nice. Thank you for sharing
My All time favorite TV show and characters. Nothing measures up to it. Thank you again for sharing a part of your lives with this video & every show. I'm also so very thankful for Mayberry days & all they have to offer Mt Airy NC. The people we've come across who live & work there are friendly & nice. The Andy Griffith show really was able to capture & reflect that in the neighborhood & businesses.
Glad you enjoy it!
My favorite sit-com ever.
Or I love lucy tv show
lloyd kline - oh yeah. Ya gotta love Lucy! I saw her in person once at a USO show with Bob Hope. She actually came out in the crowd with us and cut up. She was great!
@@graycloud057 did you see in the I love lucy show on the bob hope show bob hope played Ricky and ricky Ricardo play fred, Ethel kiss fred to death, bob hope said he knew Lucy before desi did, I love Lucy show never got bad. They made it an hour variety show the day after it end lucy divorce desi, bob hope show did the Andy Griffith show however no barney five , it was very funny too
lloyd kline -that’s sounds terrific. I saw them in ..I think it was..1986 at Pope Air Base/ Fort Bragg,NC. President Reagan even landed and joined in. It was fantastic. Lucy seemed to be having a genuine good time with us. I remember she had a pop gun with a cork in the barrel on a string.
@@graycloud057 I love lucy tv series after I love lucy too, like here lucy
No political correctness, respectful people and being kind to each other while smiling. Not like that today. Thanks for posting this video. It makes me miss my childhood.
I miss this stuff when I was that young and didn’t know or care about all that kind of stuff.
As a lifelong fan who grew up in N.C. I had the pleasure of meeting Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass) and Thelma Lou. Both nice. The ultimate was spending time with Sheldon Leonard, the show's creator and Exec. Producer. He told me great stories and and answered many questions I had about the show. Never met Don Knotts, always wanted to. I lived in LA for many years working in production, and got to meet and interview many of the greats.
I grew up in NC as well. Got to meet Don Knotts once when he came to NC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. Such a terrific character actor, in my opinion he made the show what it was.
What a time to be a kid! ...and I love that lake!
What a blast !😃
I visited Mt.Airey NC the hometown of Andy and the town is set up like mayberry
This was the America that I remember so well from my childhood in the late 1950's through the 1960's. I lived in a small town in Illinois, and it was very much like Mayberry With a population of under two-thousand people it was very intimate. we fished at the "Crick" & "Fishinhole", we loved our 4th of July parades, everyone knew and helped his neighbor and we never locked our doors! I lived across the street from the mayors son, we were best pals too lol.. now he is mayor of that little town. The fondest most heartwarming memories of my life happened in that little town, thank you Pecatonica, you mean the world to me!
I did too J.D., we are so lucky to have lived the times we have. It's great the Andy Griffith show preserved those times for people to see and enjoy. Sadly some people want to tear all that apart and say "no that didn't really happen, you just imagined it" but we know better.
Me 2
Irvine, Kentucky. about 2000 people and a diner. When there was a program at the elementary school, the gym was packed to the gills, even with people that had no kids going there. On Sundays everything was closed. It was a great time for small town America.
and no minorities
Cisne, IL, population 600.
Priceless memories here. Thanks for posting. I'm the same age as Ron Howard, and I was Opie when I was his age, lived in the same kind of world he did. My dad and I always watched The Andy Griffith show together back then, those were great times.
Thank You!
I'm the same age as you and Opie as well. I had kids very late in life and am a single parent. My 17 year old son and I have been watching Mayberry since he was about 6 and the show bonded us. I know watching the dynamics between Andy and Opie greatly influenced how I treat and respected and love my son. The Mr. McBeevy episode rips me up every time I see it when Andy decides to just believe Opie and not punish him. What a wonderful time it was back then.
The band arrangement of the theme song in this is just fabulous!
I bet that silver carp they put back in that lake is HUGE by now...!the one caught by Howard..
Wow....love that..
Thelma Lou was so prettty ..
I had a chance to meet Thelma Lou and Charlene Darlings at Mayberry days in Mt. Airy NC
Nah, Aneta was way prettier.
@@rascal211 I vote for Romena, but you better stay away if you don't want to get rocked.
@@rascal211 to me ellie walker was the prettiest in the show.
Helen wasn't hard to look at either.
This is great - takes me back to simpler times. - thanks.
I recognize a shot in the first half of this film. It's the one where the little old lady con man played by grandma walton sells Barney a lemon car.
I have watched these Great family episodes for years, still do and never get tired of this good clean fun. Shows is today are all Trash...
I remember Clint on an episode of the Odd Coupe. Very cool! 👍
Two things noticed: First, these people work in front of cameras all day yet, when a person points a small hand held camera at them, they all act like everybody I ever see in old home movies!! Second, Ron Howard was ALWAYS a pro!! He's a little boy here yet you can just see the "working professional" all over him. Amazing.
Grew up in Indy in the 50's and 60's but always a Mayberry N.C. hometown boy at heart. I love that show and when I kick off I want to go to Mayberry.
Can't agree more!
I don't think Jim Nabors/Gomer Pyle were two different people. Jim Nabors wasn't acting, he was just being himself, is what I mean.
Thanks, Mr. Howard. These are wonderful movies. I've always enjoyed Mayberry with its array of funny characters. I just love ol' Barney, Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, Floyd, Goober, Gomer, Thelma Lou, Warren, and all the others. Great to see you and that cowboy Leon.
I agree with you
Wow to see Ron Howard, little Clint and Dad must be a blessing to him to go back and look at on film.
I didn't realize the dad played a part
I think that's Ron Howards' dad and Ron's little brother with the werewolf mask...priceless footage.
Yes, that's little Clint.
Scottland Rance Howard. Played small roles on the show.
Naz Fride Did Clint also play on Batman, 1966, a couple of times? As a cowboy?
@@jayjay-bz3rr Clint also played the lead on Gentle Ben. Now he generally plays the ugly creep guy in movies and shows. What a change. He was never on Batman but I do remember him playing a little cowboy. He was also on Star Trek as an evil little bald guy.
@@tryithere He was also Eaglebauer in Rock 'n' Roll High School.
I am blessed to watch Andy Griffin Show 3 times a day, I know I'm watching the same reruns but I love it! Just like I love the Perry Mason Show and Leave it to Beaver!
