Sir you are an absolute beast! Thank you so much for doing that on my behalf. Excellent job! Very clear and concise. Interesting that Ravin claims that as long as you are anywhere between those dots(even touching)you’re good to go. People don’t realize what goes into making a descent video. Thank you so much for making the effort. Give your boy a pat on the back for me for the fine buck he harvested!
No problem. I’m happy to help. Thanks for your support.
Thanks
No problem.
Thank you for posting this it’s very informative and helpful
No problem. Happy to help. Have a good one.
John you also have to take in to account that your Axle To Axle measurement is in spec.
Adjusting the string only to get your timing marks where they're supposed to be is doing a great disservice for speed and accuracy.
Adjusting your cables by a half or full turn each will also adjust timing AND cam lean.
TnSharpshooter(UA-cam) goes into great detail in a few of his videos on ATA and timing......worth a view.
Having an ATA too long (as in a string that has stretched) you will lose speed, and that'll throw off your scope/speed dial yardages.
I will check it out. Thank you for pointing this out.
I am a TNsharpshooter FAN! He is relaxing to listen to and knows his stuff. Funny the way he talks sometimes…wish he were my grandpaw!
Nice video. I must ask, does your center serving fray even when lubing? I've had 2 different Ravins and the serving frays after 20 shots or so the width of the rail sled. Is there a remedy for this?
My center serving does fray. I keep mine lubed but it still sees ware or fray. Like anything I try to keep it well maintained. After every use wax the and oil the strings and servings. I will look around and see if I can find more information on this.
Ok thanks. The serving itself is intact and usable, just frays rally bad the width of the sled. Makes me not want to practice cause I feel I’m on borrowed time. I shoot the 29x, previously the r20. Was contemplating trying strings by GAS, but need to make these last for the season as GAS strings aren’t available for delivery till the end of October…maybe later. Heard some good things about them.
ALSO, have you considered the pulley system by firenoc? Looks neat but if one of those pulleys happens to break when cocked, it would launch into your skull 😳. No one has had issues thus far…
@@2cthetruth
I haven’t looked too far into the pulley system. I get great performance from the stock setup so I don’t mess with it too much. I do aftermarket arrows but that’s about it. The main thing is keeping it tuned and as close to stock as possible…. That’s from my perspective. I am interested in the aftermarket string upgrades though. I will do some research.
Nice video and helpful string of vids on the Ravin xbow. Which Ravin are you using to shoot 135 yards? How does that Ravin stack up against the R10?
I shoot the R15. I’ve also shot the R20. I did not see any difference in performance from bow to bow. They both performed exceptionally well. I can’t speak from experience on the R10 only the obvious that is doesn’t shoot as fast. I can’t see that affecting anything but drop and penetration down range. You shouldn’t see much of a difference in accuracy performance because they all have the same benefits based on the overall design of the bow. In my opinion Ravin has the best most advanced design on the market. They do require detailed maintenance and setup but anything that performs consistently well does. Let me know if I can help in any way. Have a good one!
@@zumaconcepts1200 what are the posted speeds of the R15? Curious.
@@arkbama6
R15 is 425 fps
R10 is 400 fps
This is exactly what I was looking for I just bought an R10 sighted it it .. right on the money 20/'40/50/70 with field tips, put on a broadhead I everything was way off 8 inches at 60 yards. I used Swhackers and 100 grain Slick Trick fixed which always shot like field points, it must be timing I said! Do you think this is the problem with my Ravin? The one side is just slightly not centered, Could this make that much of a difference I didn't want to just adjust my sights to the Broadheads, and help is much appreciated, love the bow other than that!
I would definitely fix the timing before you try anything else. It makes a big difference. My bow group’s terrible unless it is perfectly centered on both cams.
Hi Mr. Zuma, Can you help me out on something? I bought a new R10. On the timing dots mine are the same on each side but they are not in the middle. The are both exactly over the bottom dot. Is this ok being that they are exactly the same on each side or do they both need to be in the middle of the dots? Thank u.
I sure can and I am happy to help. I would adjust it until they are perfectly centered. I get very poor consistency out of mine unless they are dead center between the dots.
It’s good that it is even, that only requires a twist or two to the string. If they are not even you would need to adjust the cables to get them even. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Have a good one.
Nite
Thanks for watching
If the cams are out of sink. Do you sink the cams first and then time the cams? And if so is that accomplished by shortening or lengthening the cables to get the cams evenly out and then time them with the string?
If your cams are out of sink I would go back through and make sure all the cables are as neutral as possible. I don’t recommend twisting the cables to shorten. I try to avoid any unnatural strain on any of the equipment. Then move to the string for timing. The string will move the same way for both cams so it has to be even before you mess with timing. I believe tightening or twisting the string moves the string forward on the dots. I mentioned it in the video.
Look up TnSharpshooter on UA-cam.
He has detailed videos with diagrams showing different scenarios on ATA and timing.
You MOST CERTAINLY can adjust your cables for timing and in SOME cases to bring ATA into spec.
When adjusting your cables you ALWAYS twist the served end and NOT the unserved end to make adjustments.
Adding or removing twists to your cables from the unserved end is asking for major trouble because you take chances on damaging the string fibers.

Will do. Thank you.
I have everything dialed in now, can you tell us how to adjust cam lean? Please and thank you very much
Thank you for the question. I will get one out ASAP.
@ZUMA CONCEPTS awesome! I am excited for thus video
Just posted the video. Let me know if you need anything else. Have a good one!
Thank you good sir
Do you twist the string equally on both sides, or doesn't it matter?
Doesn’t matter. You only need to do one side.
I bought the ravin R26x and have no accuracy. I had an bolt come off real squirrelly. I found the bolt and found it broke back by the fletching. I noticed my bolts all have drag/impact marks in the same place, all by the fletch. I found the bolts are smacking the left bolt guide frame. My timing is off but also noticed I have cam lean. No shop in my area, 3 hours in any direction so I bought a ravin press. Do you think if I correct these issues the problem I am having will be solved? Waiting for my press so I'm looking to see if I can trouble shoot before it gets here.
It sounds like you have a lot going on. No doubt in my mind if you fix the cam lean and centering your positioning dots. You will fix your consistency and accuracy issues. I have not experienced my arrow noticeably flying around in the presence of those issues. It will be a good start though. If tuning does not work I would check the arrow rest. See if it is loose or miss aligned. It sounds like it is missing. Keep me posted. Feel free to email me.
@@zumaconcepts1200 Hey thanks for replying so quick. I just got the press this evening and I put new cables and string on. I have .17 on the top of the cam, .15 on the bottom and the string is dead center of the timing marks. I’m heading up on the mountain tomorrow and will hopefully get it sighted in. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
@@shaunbarney9410
no problem. I hope it all works out.
How can the distance between the cams be incorrect if the bow is timed correctly?
I don’t believe it can be. If you can’t get it perfect between the dots.. then I check the distance from bow frame to cam shaft centers to make sure it’s even. I’m not a fan of twisting the cables too much to correct it. If it is a big correction I would probably return the cable set.
So you only untwisted one side each time?
Yes
I don't think you can just adjust timing in the dots just by the string. You need to adjust cables also if 1 cam string is good the other cam dots could be out. You need to say how to get that cam between the dots. Just twisting the string is not going to do it.
I have done it both ways. It real depends on how far out it is. I have another video on the cam lean that I believe deals with what you are describing. I don’t think it is a all or nothing statement. Thanks for the input. Have a good one.
