    I really like thorns, but have you tried sevr? I use the 2.0 titanium tips… but I also think the 1.5’s are pretty nice too. Any chance you have tried them?

    • @michigangrownoutdoors7254

      I stopped shooting thorns because they won’t replace blades any more, and the price. Sevr packaging is amazing. They will run a buy 6 get one free and the blade replacement is pretty simple and affordable. Just seeing your thoughts and if you have looked into those yet or not?

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 День тому

      I haven’t. I have to stick with thorn until someone makes something similar that has zero protrusion from the blades until impact. The high speed of the bows can’t have the wind interference. It creates big challenges for consistency in grouping. They definitely look like great broadheads.

      @@zumaconcepts1200 I shoot my sevrs out of ghost 420 previously which has way less blades exposed than rage. I shot them out of my ghost 420 up to 60 yards hunting successfully. Pass through heart shot. And that was free handed. I even attempted an 86 yard shot where I missed low… I was attempting to guys yardage as the crossbow I had, the farthest pin was at 70 yards. I had no deflection of flight or anything. Just hit low. Again free handed shot. And the arrow buried with a flat line of impact. I can test it out at 100 yards and let you know if that’s something you’re curious of?

    • @michigangrownoutdoors7254
      @michigangrownoutdoors7254 19 годин тому

      @@zumaconcepts1200 you can also buy sevr individually for testing. They have a set screw when shooting into targets. So will let you know if it’s due to early deployment of blades. Or if it was actually the little tabs. But I haven’t had any issues at 420fps. My ravin r29x shoots at 450. So will have to see how they will do. But i strongly recommend taking a look. I believe $15-$17 for one head. To me it’s worth trying for ya. Especially considering the upside.

    LoL. I actually purchased 6 already. I wasn’t expecting the accuracy to be that bad. My thinking was to use them in early morning and evening to help find it for pass through or miss. I’ll try a rubber mallet on the empty tip and nock tool on the lighted knock to see if I can persuade without cracking the bolt. Wish me luck.

    Hi I'm new to crossbows, is this distance effective with big game?

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 4 дні тому

      So… It depends on your bow. Mine in this video shoots 420 fps. The penetration at 100 yards is more than enough. I have not shot a deer further than 85 yards with this setup but it was a straight pass through at 80.

    Hi there, I love the information you have in this video and tyvm for posting such content. I do however have a question. What have you done to silence your ravin crossbow? I have a Ravin R20 that seems extremely loud to me and am looking for ways to quiet it down as much as possible without hurting the speed to much and preventing me from those longer shots like you are doing here.

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 4 дні тому

      First of all thank you for your support. Second, I used limb savers and didn’t see much of a difference. They actually kept falling out no matter how tight they were in there. I eventually removed them because I was concerned it was affecting my accuracy. So long story short I don’t personally think there is a good option other than shooting from inside a sound deadening blind. It is one of the sacrifices of the performance in this case. Range needs speed and speed makes noise.

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 26 днів тому

      For starters, thanks for checking out all the videos and I appreciate your compliments. I would stick with Ravin brand nocks. The main reason I say that is it’s the most critical part of ensuring that the bow fires correctly and safely. My other videos will show you how you can change things out as far as the arrow goes, but I never mess with the nocks. It’s a far too important piece of the puzzle to mess around with.

    • @LoweKeyPewPew-px9bk

      @@zumaconcepts1200 did some further research online it seems that you can use things like the Firenocks but you “must” have a fresh string. The Raven nocks indent the string creating a loose fit and apparently the fresh string resolves this. However I still think clicking on the string like Raven has done will create more consistency and accuracy. So I’m forging ahead with your recipe.

      @zumaconcepts1200 3 дні тому

      @@LoweKeyPewPew-px9bk no trick. It’s one of the things I dislike the most about the lighted nocks. They are very tight and difficult to turn off because of that. If you try to sand the nock down or the bushing open be very careful, if it isn’t perfect it will mess with the accuracy. I quite using lighted nocks for all of these reasons plus without them my groups went from 10 inches at 100 to about 4. I have 5 lighted nocks sitting here if you want them. Very interesting and thanks for taking time out to make the video. I understand how you came up with your numbers at 106yds but I must be missing something. At that speed and distance your arrow should take roughly .83 seconds to travel 106yds. Speed of sound would roughly take .285 sec for 106yds. So wouldn't that be a .545sec reaction time?

    I'm glad to see this. I'm thinking more of using it as a stationary camera since there don't seem to be any reasonable choices out there. I was just thinking of putting up the target and placing it in a position to view that's close to the target to spot. At first I was thinking how convenient it would be to fly it out to the target but then I realized that I would be walking out to set up the target in the first place. I'd think the battery would have to last a pretty long time considering there would be no flight involved. It would be really hard to beat a $200 2k or 4k camera with a transmitting distance of at least 600 yards.

      No. It is a custom setup on an R15. The sniper pack is very similar.

    Firenock makes a bunch of different knocks and each one of those is made specifically for a different application which includes different bows and crossbows different string sizes and different arrow sizes. I would advise you to contact Firenock and Dorge will get back to you promptly with the reason why You need whatever specific you’re supposed to use on your crossbow and string set up. Depending on the crossbow set up, Dorge actually does recommend a loser fitting knock sometimes and if you ask him, he will explain why he actually works with and knows personally a lot of crossbow manufacturers.

      I don’t use any lighted nocks. I simply looked into a product that was being talked about. With the nock being the primary source of failure on Ravin arrow builds I’m comfortable with the information I have provided. Thank you for your input.

    Can the winch connect straight to the bobcat battery, or can the 120v plug? Very cool cart setup btw!

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 7 місяців тому

      Yes you could hook it up to the battery. I wanted it to be 110 so I could use it with the generator in less steep loading applications.

      No. The drone has GPS and it transmits to the controller. You would be good to go.

    I’ve never used those broadheads, but did you try doing it super fast maybe they pop out better like smacking it down on the table hard and fast

      Speed didn’t make a difference. They failed when at 420fps out of my Ravin.

    It is definitely challenging and especially for the roasters! It's crazy how quick and fast they are. Went a couple of weeks ago with a six man group and we got 17 of 24 birds paid for. Not bad for the first time.

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 9 місяців тому

      I would ask in your area to be sure. There may be rules on when and how you can use a drone. I don’t want to mislead you, so you should definitely check the rule book and ask the DNR. You might be okay depending on the situation.

    What arrow can I use for practice for the R10 crossbow? What’s a safe distance to be practice shooting too?

    • @zumaconcepts1200

      I use the same arrows I hunt with for practice. It ensures consistency. Can you clarify what you mean by safe distance to be shooting?

      @@zumaconcepts1200 meaning can the arrows be damaged at a certain distance? Should I ever be worried about the arrow reflecting back or being damaged causing broadheads or parts flying off when hitting the targets?

    • @zumaconcepts1200
      @zumaconcepts1200 9 місяців тому

      I haven’t experienced any issues with too close and rica shaded. As far as too far… I would only worry about the deer ducking the shot. With your R10 I wouldn’t shoot past 60 yards. I have another video that explains the longer shots. Close shots should be fine.
