    This works AMAZINGLY well! I do it with my vertical bow arrows to lessen the time nock tuning through paper.
    I will say.. My bad... I did not fletch mine on the side going up... Well, time to buy some more Blazers... I have an empty soft drink bottle with acetone in it and I place my arrows in it to get the rest of the vane/glue/wraps off.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks so much for sharing. I only fletch the arrows so they flex up because they are on a crossbow with rails. In a vertical bow I would think that the fletching should ride on the arrow so that they either flex up or out away from the bow. You might want to look for videos on "Archer's Paradox" to see how the arrows fly coming off the bow. Pretty amazing. Thanks again for watching and sharing and may God bless you richly.

    I'm new to x bow shooting but have done archery for years. I nock tune the arrow with no fletch and once they fly right after adjusting the nock to the best position then I fletch it so it works with where it is tuned for best flight.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  9 місяців тому

      I think that is the best way to tune your arrows. That way you know they are all flying the same and you aren't limited to just the 3 positions of the fletchings. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!

    I thank you for taking the time to do this video, That being said, First thing I noticed was the vanes coming from the store on your arrows are very distorted at the very front' That too causes flyers, Second I assume you took the weighted insert back out of the rear of the arrow before you shot them after or before installing new vanes, Also why did you not put some glue at the front and rear of each new vane, Though I agree a good gel glue is less messy. I fine that #450 glue from TEMU much better, At about $1.06, for a 50 gram tube with a tip that is long and thin if you want to use it, I have done 60 blank carbon arrows and used less than 1/4 of the tube 'Its not gel, But go slow and all will be good 'it holds great. And Black eagle arrows can come indexed if you order them that way. Also recommend doing the paper test and crony testing.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for that and glad you liked the video. I'll try and answer your question for you. As far as the vanes looking distorted. I don't remember that, but if you saw something in the video I'll need to look for it in the future as accuracy is what I was after. If there was distortion that the fletching process didn't correct I didn't notice it in the final testing as the arrows flew with great consistency. But it is something to look for in the future. As far as the drop of glue. I always put a drop of glue before and behind the vane because I often shoot compressed straw bales and if an arrow passes through of gets stuck in the middle of the bale the vanes can lift during removal and the glue seems to help. Thanks for the tip on the glue. I'll have to try the Temu glue as you suggested if you feel it is better. Always looking to learn what works best. Thanks for the other tips as well they are great. I know Victory indexes their arrows, but wasn't sure of Black Eagle so thanks so much for sharing that. I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and for commenting and may God bless you richly. Take care!

    I visually detect the bend of the boom when you look along the boom from the tail to the insert.
    As for the sticker of the feathers, I decided to switch to two feathers, they are easier to glue, and there is no difference in the flight of the arrow.
    I have a two-feather arrow video

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  9 місяців тому +1

    this was helpful advice. i was wondering why all this time why none of my bolts fly the same even though i sight in first bolt hitting bullseyes and shooting same broadheads. 2nd and third bolts always way of course going high going low left and right like half a foot difference. to this day i cant figure it out whats going on until i watch this video.THANKS. i going to try this methods out to see if the myth will be broken😊

      Glad the video was a help for you. I know it is a lot of work to tune the arrows like this, but I think it is well worth the effort. If you don't have all the equipment like I do you could buy Victory brand arrows. They are spline aligned straight from the factory and fly just like they should. They are not a sponsor of my channel, but make and excellent product. You can buy a dozen Victory Decimator crossbow bolts on Ebay right now for around $67 here is a link if you are interested: www.ebay.com/itm/185420194495?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=185420194495&targetid=1529314452230&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9007046&poi=&campaignid=19851828444&mkgroupid=145880009014&rlsatarget=pla-1529314452230&abcId=9307249&merchantid=8210754&gclid=CjwKCAjw1t2pBhAFEiwA_-A-NBiR_0RcLhPQ2TMyupVKq4bFfHgBJCDaNPw0e3UnJs-krqnTnFzEPBoC3DEQAvD_BwE Just thought I'd share that with you as another option and hope that helps. You are one of the few I have seen that even re-fletches bolts. I wonder if cross bow shooter by and large think more like gun shooters and just buy bolts, like bullets and don't tune them. Just shoot then the way they come.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  9 місяців тому

      I used to just buy bolts and select the best ones that fly right for hunting, but figured that there had to be a better way and that requires refletching the bolts. One of the reasons that I don't think you see people fletch their own bolts is because most jigs are not set up for it or require nock adapters that are either hard to find or cost more money than I think they are worth. That's why I figured a way to make my own adapter. Now that I fixed that issue I have the confidence that my bolts will hit what I am aiming at. Thanks for taking the time to comment and may God bless!

    Just curious what broadhead do you like to use with your crossbow. Thanks

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  4 місяці тому

      I have two crossbows I hunt with. I have a Jaguar recurve crossbow with 175 lb pull. That bow shoots about 240 feet per second. Because of it's slower speed and less energy that it produces I use a Thunderhead 100 grain broadhead. www.amazon.com/Thunderhead-60-150-100-5-Pack/dp/B000IERKX8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Thunderhead%2B100&qid=1707695224&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1 These broadheads fly very true and have provided me with quick and efficient kills on several deer two of which were clear pass through shots. The other bow I hunt with is a CenterPoint Amped 415 with 200 lb pull and compound limbs. This bow is extremely fast (415 feet per second at factory testing) and creates much greater energy. For this bow I use a Shwacker 251 broadheads with a 3" cut and 150 grains. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YCMBCM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On the deer I killed this past year the Swhacker entered broadside opened fully and hit and severed the leg bone in half on the opposite shoulder and passed completely through. It left an amazing blood trail that was the most pronounced of any trail I have every tracked on any deer with deer piling up about 100 yards away at a dead run. In addition the broadhead had only one blade just slightly bent. I straightened the blade and resharpened the head and it is back in my quiver ready for another use. The Swhacker 251 broadheads would be my first choice if your bow is fast shooting. They are mechanical and so fly just like a field point. They also come with a practice blade you can use to check your final arrow flight before heading to the field. If your bow shoots under 300 feet per second I would go with the thunderheads 100. As a fixed blade broadhead they have proved themselves over and over to me and they also fly true. You should also have no issue using them on a faster bow as well if you so choose. I hope that helps and may God grant you success this up coming season. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you in every way richly!
