I never knew the sea could be such a rich blue until I saw the Mediterranean from the French Rivera
. Before that, I had a friend who had travelled the world in the US Navy and said that each ocean and sea was a different color.

Lived in the US all my life and I’m getting such vicarious thrills from places you’re visiting tbh at I likely won’t. A word of warning from someone with Scottish and English genes: wear sunscreen! Skin cancer loves people from the UK.

The thumbnail scared me! I'm from Ohio and figured I'd get a moderate tan...yes...the same "tan" you'd get from standing on the planet Mercury! He's even whiter than me!

Depends on your genetics, I grew up there and came from a family of red heads and blondes of Irish/English ancestry! If we did what you did, we would have 2nd degree burns in less than an hour, lol.
If you can take it because you tan easily and don't burn, try netrogena sesame oil.

Sunscreen is cancer in a can, literally. You're safer getting scorched by the sun than you are smearing on sunscreen.

      janicelindegard6615,
So sorry, I got sun poisoning too, many times, and bad burns so I feel your pain. Two of my sisters have skin cancer, the red head has been having to get them cut out for decades, the other got it on her neck. I left Florida at 16 for San Francisco, and have been very lucky. So important to be careful, Florida has the most intense sun where you can burn just sitting in the car going down the road in a matter of minutes.

Yeah, I was surprised when we got to the keys to learn that they don't have a ton of beaches in the keys. Plus, the beaches often have big rock below the water, and you can stub your toe on them.

that "walking bridge" is the original railroad that went into the keys back when Henry Flagler was alive it was later converted into a car traffic bridge and for many years was how you drove to the keys. on your way out make time to stop at Bahia Honda state park you'll be very mad at yourself if you miss it. you probably wont have time for the Dry Tortugas its a day adventure by itself. be careful of the night life it can get pretty wild.

Alabama has beautiful sugar sand beaches. Our beaches are some of the most beautiful in America. I’ve been to Key Wesr twice-my first and last time. I hated the drive from Miami to Key West, however, we enjoyed the sites and deep sea fishing. I made a note to myself, “NEVER DRIVE TO KEY WEST”’ again and I have kept that vow since 1975.

As you make your way out be sure to give yourself an extra few hours. Make a stop on Big Pine key to drive randomly around the residential area where you will spot key deer!! There is only ONE place in the world where these miniature deer exist and they are adorable (size of a medium dog). Hit Bahia Honda beach, one of the top beaches in the country. And stop off at Key West Fisheries for the most amazing crab chowder. Enjoy Key West, it's a fun place to stroll around, admire the architecture, laugh at the random roosters and explore Hemingway House with its 6-toed cats.

Shaun, in the beginning of this video, you noticed that the houses were on stilts. This is to cut down on the damage caused by hurricanes in the area.
The Overseas Hwy. used to be today's walking bridge, but it was a railroad bridge that was destroyed by a hurricane decades ago, and was replaced by what you're on here.

I used to live in Key Colony Beach, off of Marathon!
(I don't know if the Quay is still open in Marathon but if it is, the lobster bisque is out of this world and so is the strawberry kiwi bisque)
Once you cross over Marathon, you'll hit Seven Mile Bridge. It's exactly seven miles.
Bar hopping is excellent, so hit the ones off Sombrero Key.
Most definitely stopped for pineapple ice cream on Big Pine Key (the reason it takes so long to get to Key West you're going to find out once you hit Big Pine ine Key lol.)
You should eat at the Green Turtle Inn on Islamorada, the fish is so fresh that they literally pull it off a boat in the back and throw it on the grill!

Man of war actually isn’t considered a jellyfish at all. It’s technically a Siphonophore meaning it’s a collection of different animal types that combine together to form a shape with its own specific function. It’s not even considered alive as no one organism in there structure has a true brain. It literally is at the mercy of the wind and waves as it doesn’t have a form of actually moving. If you see one just let it drift by and leave it alone.
