I think more likely is if he gets 501 he will go a tad higher as he has it in him and its a fuck you to the people saying 1kg isnt enough. Ive heard rumours that 501 isnt the final goal and he wants to hit slightly more but only Thor and his teams know in reality.
While that'd be beyond amazing I doubt that's gonna happen. But if does, Eddie will just implode on the spot.
Unnecessary strain on his body if he did that. Deadlifting 501 is incredible and he has nothing to prove bu hitting it twice. It's possible he could go beyond 501 tho

I would love to see him do it, but whatever he does in his home gym does not count as any record. I like Thor, but calling this a record show is just an insult to the whole sport. No records at home gyms should be counted.

well... thor will pull 501 and it will look good. he is, as a person, capable of pulligt more. but records on this weight is nothing like pb's down on 200kg, it's not like thor now is a 500+ puller for the rest of his carreer. what it takes for a human to do this is an insane peak in performance. one that also cost you in all sorts of ways. so if money is offered that thor feels is worth it, maby he will peak for higher. only he can know cost/reward. as for common competition, he can be well over 400 puller at any time.

adding 30kgs to that isnt going to be walk in the park. we've seen guys easily drop off after a few kgs get added to an "easy lift".
@T M Remember he will do a deload before the 501. So this 470kg is still when he's not 100%.
@T M I think it's a sure thing. 470 is about 93.5% of 501. Thor will be even stronger on the day and he has shown in the past he is great at fighting for a weight if he needs to. I think it will go up relatively easy.

I just want to congratulate you guys behind this channel on what you have accomplished. Obviously Hafthor for being awesome and lifting interesting weights - but the whole setup is just awesome. Runar on camera/editing being a super-wizard, pabbi Bjössi for being a pretty important part of this (loved and adored by everyone watching for sure). And Kelsey, Stefan Sölvi etc. In the beginning it was stiff, a bit awkward - but it has really grown to be awesome to watch as everybody gained experience and became much more comfortable. I know this must also work really well from a business POV, which is awesome - makeing a business out of doing something you love and entertaining people at the same time. The way he pulled that 470 .... its going to be a new world record. This does not mean that Eddie couldn't do more. Eddie jumped the gun by 40 kilograms. I feel both Thor and Eddie could lift 510kg. They are both legends in my eyes.

@@123deserted No eddie said he wont do it, because his health was really bad after the lift. Its the maximum for eddie ( actually more than his maximum ). He has not the perfect strongmen frame. Thor is taller build by nature, he has better genetics for the sport. This however shows even more great will and performance by eddie

Eddie resorted to getting a hypnotherapist because he failed 470, his hypnotherapist got him to have 100% adrenaline for the lift, after Eddie did the lift he collapsed backstage and the parametric machines couldn't measure his blood preasure and heart rate because both were 200+ 20 minutes after his lift, he had bleeding to the brain and had problem remembering family members and names of his family for some time.

Eddie pulled 465 twice as fast as Thor pulled 470 right before he did 500. 30kg is a huge jump, you very frequently in deadlifting competitions see someone pull say 400 quite comfortably but later on fail 420. You sound pretty clueless.

520 kg won't happen for Thor. Thor is strong no doubt about it. Thor's 470kg was the same speed as eddies 465kg if anything thor will be able to lift 5 kg more and he will most likely get hurt.

@@zach1359 nope Eddie did the deadlift. Hafthor is also doing a deadlift. The organisation behind it doesn't make it a different lift therefore if Hafthor does pull the 501 then he has the wr and Eddie no longer is the wr holder. Obviously hafthor has to first pull it.

I feel the only thing really holds on to is the fact of "where he had to go" in his mind as he says. Yeah, I think Eddie knows Thor can pull it even without the "mental" thing, but he is trying to be discouraging. Maybe because he wants other people to pay the same price he did for that lift. When Eddie did it, it was considered impossible and I'm sure that that mental limit weighed on Eddie. He had to find a way around it and that's when the "mental" thing came to the rescue, in my opinion. I do think that now Thor can lift it based on pure strength.
@@dangleeszak2323 I guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle. For one side, Eddie was the first to lift 500. Therefore whatever he tells about how it went the people must accept or at least can't really argue about it since no one else has that kind of experience. Eddie is smart enough to know how to build a proper hype and legacy around that lift, he made it look almost a mythical achievment (which is almost the truth).
The other side is that he is a smaller guy than Thor. It is what it is. Eddie is a beast, but naturally he is smaller than the Icelandic giant. My guess is that it was physically more challenging for him to go there and lift that kind of weight. Thor may also have a similar barrier, but I guess it is past 500 or 501.
But then again, all I do is speculating.

no human being during the viking era was as heavy and strong as thor, not even close. the tales are too much over the top. i believe those guys reached kinda muscular 120kg at best, unless they were simply fat as hell. people were smaller back then. the top guys in strongman today are the strongest people who ever lived. the level is as high as it has never been.

Dude claims (before 500kg lift, prepping for it) that he had never pulled anything over 450kg because his head felt like exploding.
