You have to wedge it off or get a box cutter razor and cut around it until you can pull it up

Lol ya i just stopped at the part where u unplug the power supply felt like something I wasn’t supposed to be doing as i was pulling wuite hard and it didn’t come out.feels slightly unnecessary feel like it’s already open enough at that point.
xbox consoles are so much easier to open.

FYI. Just so you know, Sony has agreed to not void your warranty simply because of your "sticker" is gone or has been removed, torn, etc... Due to the fact that allot of folks have had their "sticker" damaged or completely removed simply by placing their console into a tv cabinet or shelf, and all the cabling getting folded into the rear of the console possibly causing a tare or completely removing the "sticker".
Microsoft is not as "understanding" as Sony is.

I had a different slim model but for the most part, this video helped with 60-70% of the job. Took me 2-3 hours to completely dismantle all parts to expose the fan. Just had I got it done. Super quiet once again. 🙏

Just did this to mine and it’s NEVER been cleaned. Super easy and to the point. Awesome video. This thing is super quiet now. Ran great on a 4 hour gaming session, never sounded like a jet engine lol. Thanks for the easy tutorial, mate.
A nice way to easy clean your PS4 Slim as it seems. I don't own a PS4 Slim, nor another PS4. But I would do it like this.
I did everything like in the video. But when i put in the power cabel do the ps4 i heard (click*) and its not working now. :/ lol

My heatsink literally had a carpet of dust on it, thank you so much for this guide my ps4 no longer sounds like a jet engine, it’s almost dead silent!

Why is there need for five different screwdrivers bits i watched other videos on this and you only need a t8 and Phillips screwdriver so plz tell me if im wrong
An H9 and a philips is the only real bits you need. H9 is a torque bit but it has a small hole in the center. It can be used for h9 screws or torque screws. So other tutorials were actually using an H8 bit (often times H bits are labeled as torques cause its easier) but 8 is a size too small - and you Can get away with that but if you accidentally strip a screw then you've just created a difficult and annoying problem
Is this risky like is it common for it to break? I need to clean my family ps4 it can’t run that many games because it hasn’t ever been clean but I’m worried about the success rate

@@Luke.Skywodka I’m a bit late. If you’ve already done it I hope it went well. I just did mine for the first time in 6 years. I have no experience with this sort of thing and didn’t even know mine was the slim until I started looking for this video. But once I found and followed this video it was simple. I had to pause and take it slow but still less then an hour. I can now hear my games rather then an airport in my room.

Watched the video one time , and tried to get in for 1 hour 😂 , the black plastic pin removal took 45 mins with a knife and a lot of scratches for me, very good tutorial , thank you!
do you know how to remove a stripped screw? I have never done anything to my ps4 but somehow 3 of the screws were stripped and I can’t get the ps4 open

I'm not too sure to be honest with you Guy. Just take it apart again and look for a teardown video with your specific PS4 model number, and hopefully you find what fell out!

Since I cleaned it the fans haven't made a bit of noise, I even thought they weren't working anymore haha. Thank you so much for the explanation. Now my friends won't complain about the noise anymore and I can go back to using my microphone normally
There’s are small black tabs were screws are supposed to be on my ps4. Anyone know why?

For Phillips i would use the PH1, i didn't quite catch if it was mentioned so i guess it wasn't.

Interesting! In the other videos I've seen they've never removed the hard drive but it's good to clean to I suppose. One thing NOBODY mentions is how to get those damn black buttons off on the metal plate cause I can't seem to take it off to get to the fan no matter what I do

Is there any way to unscrew a too tight screw even after disfiguring the Philips face
I usually get an elastic band and place that on the screw head before you screw it, that should help :)

I don't think we have the same slime, I cant get the screw that's in the back that's for the hard drive and now I cant get one of the screws out where the fan is and ontop off that I don't know how to get the black things that are replacing some of the screws out, this is so hard.. and I'm very frustrated

I've just had a look into this and it seems the newer versions of the PS4 slim have the black covers that you need to pinch to take out. Sorry I didn't include that in this video, I had no idea. I think TronicsFix has a video showing on how to dissemble a PS4 slim with these clips.
I did this and now the hdmi isn’t working..? It turn on and everyrhing but nothing comes up on the tv.

How unfortunate that my PS4 Slim has near flush no hole plastic screws for 90% of the screws for the metal plate covering the gan, heat sink, etc. preventing me from direct access......
I failed at the first hurdle. The first black screw on mine wasnt a phillips it was a security screw. The type with the hexagonal head with an hole in it. I dont have one that small.

I learned something but when I cleaned it it was really dirty, my ps would over heat and turn off but now it ain’t working
take it back apart again and check for things you might have missed :)

The first screw I can’t take off there’s a metal thing restricting my screwdriver to go any further to unscrew it
Nvm this jus bought the screw driver but for the fan plating above it there’s some black screws that I can’t unscrew like there’s no hole to put my screw in it

I wouldn't really recommend it! IPA is your best bet :)

Slight issue, my ps4 is layed out differently, in order to acces the fan area i have to take apart the whole thing
For some reason I can't get the first screw out. My screwdriver fit in the screw that's in the hard drive but not the other one
Check the model number of your machine Jak first of all. Then maybe have a search for some more guides on UA-cam :)

I had a black L shape piece fall out and I have no idea where it goes. I've seen a couple other people online have the same issue

very cool, but the top cover was not easy, or maybe because it hasn't been opened before or my meaty finger sausages are too chonky. and on mine there are way less screws, like less than half what you unscrewed. mine has plastic pegs / rivets that have been molded in and there's only one way to get that opened and then I wouldn't be able to put it back. and checked my fans with a flashlight and dusted it out some. in 5 years of use there wasn't that much dust so that is basically a non issue. my pc needs blowing more often like once every 2 years or so.

The problem is that the metal which is above the fan, has 4 screws and others are just plastic little stubs, I can only break them to open, so I guess I cannot fully clean mine

Mine doesn't have the screws shown @3.30. It also doens't have the antenna fixed to the battery. Obviously there are different models of the slim. :-(

I don't think cleaning the PS4 can fix lag my friend, but it can help prolong the life of your PS4 by cleaning it, as well as reducing fan noise.
