    All very interesting and I have learnt a lot. You have made my life so much simpler as this is exactly what I want to do ! Thank you!
    It may help if you also told us where you got the bits from, and for how much, to give us an idea.
    I would, however like to point out that if there is no power applied to the cable then you can cut both wires at the same time, in one go, with the cutter, and there will be no problem, no fuse will blow. The "short circuit" that you mention only happens when there is power in the circuit, i.e. the light would be on if plugged into the socket/plug but that is not the case here as the brakes light only comes on when the key is in the ignition, turned on an somebody steps on the brake. Of course cutting them separately is a good habit to form but it is also a good habit to form to always know what is going on with the circuits you are working on ,are they on, are they off etc. so then you know whether you can or cannot cut multiple wires together. I hope this helps

    Thanks so much for this video! Can I ask where do you source your reverse camera kits from?

      Hi Tommi, thanks for the message. Sure, they can be found on amazon.

    Can you use also the wago connectors for the installation?

    love the video- lets hope its as simple when I try to replicate what you've done. One question about the trigger cable that you connect to the reverse light- why do you use the black/negative and have the red/positive connected to the other red wire? My AV connecting wire has a red wire emerging from each end that I was going to use to power the monitor via the connection to the brake light. Can I then connect the green to the reverse light via the red wire and earth the black one?

    Can the reversing camera be used as a rear viewing camera whilst driving, if it has a switched live??

    • @vanlifeconversions
      @vanlifeconversions  10 місяців тому

      Yes it can be turned on permanently to display what the camera sees, however in this position it looks straight down to the rear bumper/floor

    Nice video man! Any specific reason you're connecting the device to you household battery and not the starter battery?

    • @vanlifeconversions
      @vanlifeconversions  8 місяців тому

      Just so that it does not gradually drain the starter battery as it has a small constant level of power consumption

    Hi Ollie, love the videos! Can I ask - is the adhesive pad for the exterior good /strong enough to create a waterproof seal? I've got visions of leaks, even if the area is prepped properly with the degreaser first.
    Wanted to check as it's the only hope without liquid sealant being used and I'm starting my conversion next week on a 2018 Boxer.
    You guys have been so helpful!
    Cheers
    Dave

      Hi Dave, We haven't experienced any issues with the supplied pad, but if you wanted to use a clear bead of sealant for extra waterproofness, then that would be a quick job for peace of mind. Good luck with the build and thanks for your support.
