- Another lump of tools sent in for repair. This lot was sent in from a company who make garden ornaments out of concreat.
Only the grinders repaired in this lot, the hitachi impactor was not worth fixing.
No shortage of grinders needing repaired I this game. They are one of the most used and abused tools out there, so your bound to see a lot.

Who needs fancy tool boxes when you've got a dusty burlap sack
Just imagine showing up with your tools in a sack like this on a construction site. Umm no... they are NOT stolen...😂😂
You can tell the cut of a man by the size of his sack. lmao@@C_Productions
Spurred on by your videos Dean, I stripped, replaced the firing pin and reassembled a little 18g brad nailer yesterday. I had to chuckle to my self as I tested it out and said "that's her". Keep doing what you're doing - entertaining and very informative!
Nice one, no better feeling.
A mean who would of thought it would be this good to watch tools getting stripped and rebuilt. My favourite channel for ages. When you find one you where not expecting turns out to be a hidden gem. Well done deano
You are without a doubt a professional, excellent video
Not far off 100,000 subscribers! Not bad for a modest tool repairer from Ireland-Well deserved.
thanks, hopefully ill get there.
For me,that quality of contents 1 million subscribers not an utopia .
It's a big ask but I would love a quick video on your recommendation of tools... You see more about a tool than 99% of us. You see the insides and what fails etc. Thank you for your great channel and work!
I think he did a video on the tools he uses.
...Wiha screwdrivers etc.
Brilliant video if you were ever going to start buying tools this is the man you need to ask his knowledge is amazing !
Drinking coffee. Watching tech do magic on dead power tools. Toast to Mr Doherty.
The 755 motor in that Hitachi is actually very cheap. You can take it from Ryobi and replace the teeth. I did it for my hitachi impact and it work just fine
Ryobi are few and far between in the UK and Ireland....
From a liability standpoint I can't see ya man wanting to do that either. €100 would probably get you a new bare impact from Hikoki with a 3 year warranty.
Always great to watch. Was actually up in Letterkenny last weekend and was tempted to drop into the shop just to see.
Another tool bonanza from the legend Dean- Classic!. Greetings from the Netherlands
Many thanks!
Another great video.Learnt a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice one from Catford, London SE6!
i ve repaired by green bosch anglegrinder some gws 7 115 ..thanks to you ! a friend had a bad one also..but i used his armature...enjoyin your vids every night before i go to bed..love the accent btw .remainds me of a old friend..😊
Nice one from Sydney
Thanks Dean I have a leftie grinder, going to rotate today
Of course he starts off with the Makita haha.
Good job!
Im going to have something to watch on my break at work.
After 8 months of watching, I might know how to change brushes, but I'm always missing that screw.
Nice one from Perth😏
Great videos, Dean. It looked like the brush spring at 30:03 did not return to its normal postion.
I never got tools in a sack to fix usually a bucket for some unknown reason
Impressively low cost for a replacement gear set. Was thinking it was a right off at the start
I'm not familiar with English electricty and repairs, but in the Netherlands it's a no go to put an earthed plug on a double isolated machine used for professional work. It's labeled as a false sense of security since the earth leakage circuit breaker won't work on this machine (especially worth when working in a wet environment and not getting electrocuted)
Bish bash Bosch, us Doherty's don't take any shortcuts. If a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing well as my old daddy used to say as he was brewing his poteen lol. Love, health and respect from Scotland UK. Up Belmullet, Up Mayo
Nice one from Dubai.
Wow! You can tell how many tools you’ve pulled apart! Nice job! A video well worth it! Great VALUE HERE!!
I love to see a proper Irish man working with his hands, cheers from Latvia. In my work place, we repair our tools till they fall apart, I have so many hours of experience. The only difference in my work is that, if the company doesn't provide parts, like a simple switch, we buy them from China. It's not a legit part but for 2 euros I can replace a switch and give a machine a couple of hundred extra hours. It's like a mafia, some tools are meant to be thrown out, even the problem is a simple switch.
There is no excuse that the switch doesn't come separately from the motor or the brains of the machine.
@@Diablo-jt4tv I know it's not good companies should be made to make modular replacement possible
It's such a shame sometimes. I would prefer to use original parts but when something as simple as a switch comes in an assembly of parts with a manufactures tag of 50 euros in machine that cost 80 euros, its just extortion, a mafia. I can clip off and replacer any switch with a 2 euro Chinese switch. It's not as pretty as a original part but it keeps the tool running, as I see it it's the fault of manufacture to not provide modular parts for their tools. @@doctorlefthandthread
@@Diablo-jt4tv I agree totally
16:11 this screw sounded like slowed down sponge bob laugh
Hi Dean, loved the video. What light are you using at 19:27 ?
There’s the problem T shirts 😊
Or 'That's her done' |-)
that was the most Irish possible way to store tools 😂
Do any of the lads who drop off these tools ask for suggestions on purchases or maintenance because I would 😂
These videos are so therapeutic for me.
On the second Bosch grinder - what did you do to the tips of the stripped lead wires before screwing then in? 35:02
Suggest a vacuum cleaner first so dust catches inside, before blowing, can be done in place too
Was thinking you can buy cabinets for blowing things out too, I think
@@jcoul1scyou can make your own too cheap and easy
Brushes in the hitachi impact driver - mabuchi 755 motor can be replaced for cheaps but it takes a whole lot of annoying work to open and re-seal the motor plus a 2 months wait for brushes from china.
So in Ireland, things show up randomly in potato sacks.
Hello, from midwest Oklahoma.
Hello there!
Morning Dean ,can you tell me what lead you use as a replacement.thx
Hi Dean what grease do u recommend for the milwaukee k540s when changing out piston and striker orings
Mesmerizing!
Question. How do you get your hands on these broken tools?
It's his job. He has a small but healthy business doing tool repair. Therefore, people bring the tools to him.
It's his job..but it isn't his business..he works at his local hardware shop doing repairs..he was asked this question before 👍
29:55 it almost looks you forgot to put the spring in place.
Bosch Grinder's brushes are new, but there is still flame coming out of the collector. why ?
Your phillips bit on your drill slips because japanese tools, vehicles etc dont use phillips theyre JIS and slightly different than phillips although look the same. File the tip of the bit down a touch
I just use JIS bits for Philips as well.
What diy impact driver would you recommend. I'm looking at cordless just don't want to get a lemon or massively expensive.
Can't go wrong with erbauer ext 18v brushless motor (Screwfix/b&q) trade rated as well..👍
@@fredholmes6284thank you
i work with you in my ears. any commentary on makita CXT? i haven’t seen one in a video
👊👍
Your Bearing Pullers link?
The last grinder is a 700w unit so, if I stuck a PAT on it, I would normally fail it and replace the 13A fuse with a 5A. Do you leave it at 13A as that's what was fitted by the customer, does it get a PAT before collection and changed, or does that grinder blow 5A too often under surge loads so it gets a 13A anyway?
Startup amps are to high. 13amp fuse is needed on these.
@@deandohertygreaser Worth looking up the breaking curve/envelope for a BS1362 fuse (what is fitted in plugs)
A 3a will let you pull 10a for about 5 seconds before blowing, a 5a will give you about 10a for good 10 seconds. (approx 2x the rating for 10 seconds), and a significant amount more for just a 1 second startup time.
Probably would have fitted 7 or 10a myself, lower is always better even if the fuse is just meant to protect the lead and not the device, a well selected fuse can pull double duty.
Dean, the last job, how come no earth on it ? 😱
most modern power tools and most old ones are class 2 double insulated. the motor is enclosed in plastic so no need for a earth lead.
@@deandohertygreaser Thanks 👍 that must be why Chinese crap has no earth wire, and if it does they don’t connect it 😱
No ground wire on these tools?
No these are class 2 electrical appliances, they have no exposed metal components that could contact live of neutral. insulated cables and plastic casings. No need for an earth lead.
Weirdly, sound seems to alternate between mostly coming out of either the right or left speaker depending on what segment you are on.
That is because I could be standing to either side of the camera. When filming the camera is directly in front of my face
@@deandohertygreaser Makes sense. Might wanna invest in a wireless mic of sorts to clip onto your jacket.
What happens to the tools that die?? 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
ins that u sale what u fix??
Hello dear friend, how do you wash dirty parts from grease, please show it on the video.
If you look through some of his old videos you can often see him doing it
Will do soon
Hi dean I a 16 year old apprentice what you be the best power tool brand to be
Not Hilti anyway
Deans opinion is Makita. 3 year warranty if you register on the site within 30 days of buying and the vast majority of their machines can have individual parts replaced as opposed to having to replace the whole machine if it konks out like a lot of Milwaukee. DeWalt and Bosch too. DeWalt have a better 18v line than Bosch imo
Ha santa brought you a sac of power tools, broken power tools from his shop 🤡
What is the best brand to buy for longevity and repairability?
Makita seems good.
Do you keep the no fix tools or give them back to the customer?
P.S. The last hammer was a counterfeit. Probably found a 75% off Amazon deal. Amazon is rife with very convincing fake tools.
105th view!
Can you please give me the e mail address for the parts that you get it from
