- Another day, more broken tools.
No into or final note in this video, sadly the first machine and last where a no go, so I didn't include them.
Thanks, everyone, for who enjoys watching my videos and is now following me. It means the word to me. Everyone is asking for these longer full videos, so they requested.
A breakdown on costs of these repairs.
The milwaukee DD 2-160 XE cost 15 euro.
The festool CT MINI cosy 70 euro.
The Bostitch RC-10 C110 turned out to also have a faulty electronic pressure switch, so it would not turn off. So it's still ongoing.
The spectra laser level was also 15 euro.
The Makita DSS611 Saw was 62 euro.

Can we just take a second to appreciate that you fixed miter saw and a compressor with one hand 😂 Amazing
He’s fixed loads one handed 👏👏👏👏
I thought that as well 😆
No
And a whole lot less cursing than I would use.
I always thought that Festool products were far more substantial than that. Build and price don’t jive…..
In the morning when i wake up i take cup of coffee and i watch this guy fixing tool its fun to watch
I run a construction company in the USA. I really wish there was a reputable repair guy like you out here! I always love watching your videos in the evenings. Helps me repair some of our tools and really helps me decide what to buy and what to stay away from.
Wow, thanks
I agree with you there. The items I have had to toss because I didn't have a tool to open the case or I couldn't source a tiny part to get it working again is bloody depressing.
Never mind a 3amp fuse in the Makita drill, I've used an stumpy Allen key insert instead of a fuse to get a tool going they're just the right diameter and length😂 I do put a 13amp fuze in as soon as I can get one
Reaction on the DeWalt Saw....most people can't do this with both hands, recording with one and dismanteling with the other hand is another thing.... Top !
A neighbour of mine can drive, hold his phone to his ear, roll a smoke, and light it with a match. All one handed. He's also a wizard at repairs. The old style tvs that had the tubes, wristwatches. Household appliiances, tractors cars and motorbikes. An absolute genius and all self taught
@@kierandoherty1600 your last name rings a bell!! 🤣🤣
Your no nonsense approach is what I look for in a channel. No need for useless information and your dexterity and knowledge of the equipment and tool handling as well as the ease of breakdown, is what keeps me riveted to your channel. Love it..the brushless tidbit amazing!
im a chef and I just found you a few weeks ago you are awesome ilove watching you for hours.keep going
Thank you! Will do!
How you took the play out of the DeWALT mitre saw was very interesting, thanks!
What i like about you is explaining everything as you go along with every step.
He has obviously been doing tool repair for a long time. If I took apart tools the way he does I would have parts left over and have no idea how to put it back together.
I love these videos…But you do drive me insane!
Whenever I try to fix anything I organize and hold on to each screw, washer or part like my life depends on it and here you are just knocking parts wherever they may fall!
😂💪👍🏼
I can’t believe he can do all this one-handed, while holding a Camera or Phone. We need to send this guy, a tripod and a GoPro.
Very straightforward with no bullshit and endless blabla - brilliant! Can't appreciate this enough, sir.
I love your work.Methodical precise and perfect .The best I have seen in my73 years life.❤
Started watching you on TikTok, found you had a YT channel, made my day. Your work is exemplary and your explanations and generosity with your knowledge is a breath of fresh air. Thanks a lot.
thank you for all the effort trying to film in the same time and working with one hand. Nice job!
Tell the owner of the Bostitch compressor to not store it upright if it will freeze. Saw the same issue due to freezing. Condensate in the tank settles to this spot if stored upright, freezes and bursts that fitting. Nice repair video.
That's good to know. Thanks.
But I found why it bust the fitting. The pressure switch had failed and keeps building pressure. Keeps building to 15bar before the safety valve opens.
I'd say someone got a he'll of a shock then that fitting popped
I like the little comments you make. Very infoprmative. I learn a lo watching you. Hard to find a guy like you where I live.
Glad you like them!
Love it, best bit is the complete lack of care where the screws drop lol. When im stripping any machinery down im shit feared of losing a screw lol
It's because he is working with one hand. The camera is in the other, drives me crazy.
And that's the reason I now have several of the magnetic dish things so I don't lose the screws and other metal components. 👍
this is unbelievable u are unbelievable u do stuff with 1 hand that most can't do with 2👍 true pro👍
Nice video, i repair stuff sometimes. Did a hoover today. Cleaning lady at work said it was dead.
Opening it i saw tons of crap in the motor ...blew it out....and reassemble it
.... totally worked.
Dud have 1 screw left ....but it worked and i was out of time, kept it for the next time 😂
For a second, I thought you said Bast-d. But you said Bostitch. I had to replay it. I love the videos. Learning more about the tools I use.
I found your channel yesterday, and you inspired me to try to fix a new craftsman hedge trimmer that was in a box of returns I bought. I took it apart a few years ago, and checked the switches, and wiring, but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away because it had 0 use on it. I just checked and it looks like I can get a new motor for it, but I didn't recall the exact model so I will have to find it and look that up.
Can you post back and let us know how you got on with the repair? Would be very interested to know. Thanks. 👍
@@josephking6515 So far craftsman parts are very hard to come by.
I used to get the customer returns from DIY stores bins and repair them, all the power tools you see on display are written off and when the new model comes out they all go in the bin, i rescued £600 of power tools in one go once. Ive still got crates full of tools waiting to fix.
May I ask how you got them to give them to you instead?
@@Elektrotechniker bin diving.
Love these videos. Such good info to keep my tools out of the landfill. Can’t help but notice you installed the festool speed selector backwards though haha
That was so the tortoise could beat the hare. 😁
Dean, we’d love to know more about your tools and shop. At minimum, I’ve been looking for the 25° angled cutter-crimper you used at the beginning.
Living in the USA would hope I could buy any tool simply. Sadly I can’t find that one, at least not in this country for less than 75USD.
Great video, love these factory tours! Would love to see the Myford factory. Such great British history
I learned a new thing thanks for good explaining on Dewalt ❤
Love the videos, can only image the collection of screws he has. Only some who knows he probably has a replacement could be so cavalier!!!
I’m glad you went through this one. I’ve just bought a 777.
Nice job Dean, I learned something again from U Tube.
Muy buenos videos. Muchas gracias . Saludos desde Argentina
Dean, if you can list the tool brand and model numbers, it will help people find your videos to fix their tools or equipment. You probably don't need to put them in the titles, but at least make them searchable.
The Lazer level LIVES.
Hi Dean,
Love your videos, could you recommend a good hoover for grinding brick dust 👍
Can you make a list of what you consider the best Drill, Reciprocating Saw, Circular Saw, Multi-Tool all professional grade for home use?
If you want all one brand with money being no concern I'd go Festool. If you want decent and reasonable price I'd go Milwaukee. It's way easier to stick to one platform. That's my experience after 25 years in a cabinet shop anyways. You can chase who makes the best of this or that but at the end of the day they all break
Can I ask if I can be your apprentice? I really want to learn how to fix broken power tools.
good close up of the hands!
Had the exact same problem with the wee dewalt saw was annoying as it kept cutting timber with a circular Finnish
The Dewalt saw has hardly changed since DeWalt bought Elu with the design
Man..I am hooked to your chanel...Great job
“No sound is better than bad sounds.” You really need to slap that on a t-shirt and sell it if you aren’t already! I’m serious.
I just wish I could have justified the extra cost and got brushless tools. The Ozito 18v brushless tools cost around AUD$100 more than the brushed counterpart. Difficult to justify when an 18v 165mm circular saw with brushes is AUD$98 and the brushless AUD$179. Plus I don't use the tools that much; just DIY stuff around the house.
*Thank You* for the videos. 👍 They are entertaining, educational and I also find them quite relaxing which I greatly appreciate but my unwanted visitor Ian Somnia does not. 😲
nothing wrong with brushed tools if they are only for ocational use. Prefect for diy work
Great job one handed.
I hooked on watching your videos
Great knowledge thanks for the video
nice work again mate
Nice job Dean .!! really good videos and so addictive 2 watch. I need your opinion on framing nail guns, Milwaukee or Hikoki?
Hikoki. Same type of guns. Both have brilliant power. But the hikoki lasts longer i find
Bloody amazing !!!!
Curious how easy you find it to get parts like the festool panel, is that something you can just order from festool?
PAT label on the Dewalt saw from October and the state of the lead, quality
I kept thinking the compressor was going to explode on you for some reason.
Just love your channel
That Festool had half a meter of saw dust in it!!😂
Festool speed dial looks to be pointing the wrong way? Was like it at the start also
I try my best not to lose any screws but sometimes still lose one, you drop them everywhere but still never lose any.
Noticed the pats label was dated for 10-10-23 Was it Stevie Wonder who passed that Dewalt circular saw at 14:20
But brushless are more expensive to fix
So I guess, on the Bostich compressor, the check valve failed from over pressure, before the relief valve?
As someone who owns a lot of Festool tools some are outstanding like the Routers & Drills, others definitely do not justify the price like the seriously underpowered 110v TS55REQ & the plastic used on the dust extractors is the shittiest flimsiest cheapest crap they could possibly have used. The Plastic used for McDonalds happy meal toys is of far superior quality.
The front panel breaks constantly removing 110v plugs & the hose garage plastic is brittle as anything also.
😢The Fein extractors are much better quality.
So, basically what you're saying is that Festool's plastic is subpar to say the least?! 😂😂🤔
Sorry I had to. You have very strong feelings about this plastic! Don't worry, I can definitely relate to the frustration you have. Been there....done that! 👍👌🛠️🔩🔧📏🔋⚡⚠️🔌
Long shot Dean But can you change glass on PLS lazer levels?
The easiest way to remove silicone sealer is with wd40 or similar. Takes seconds.
Nice job
I would follow you anywhere sir!
Interesting videos, however 5Amp fuse would be better suited as it would take 1150watts, 13Amp fuse too high as it would take up to almost 3Kw before it blew
A 5amp fuse would blow the second you pull the trigger. Don't forget the startup torque needed to get the blade spinning
@@deandohertygreaser Good point, hadn't thought about that, apparantly it draws 8.8Amps on start up so you're absolutely correct 13Amp fuse is the correct choice.
Awesome videos always interesting. Can I ask what is your recommendation for best tool brand since you see so many.
It's not as simple as which one. They all have good and bad tools. So what tools you run is a major factor. Plus how much you want to send.
But as a rule you cannot go to far wrong with makita tools. Unless you need a nail gun. Makita guns ant that good
@deandohertygreaser thank you for response. I am an occasional diyer but was curious since you see any and all things. Last question to go brushed or brushless.
Is the controller in the brushed tool just doing soft start? you could probably bypass that and still have the tool work :D my Evolution mitre saw killed its soft start - and the new module was as much as a new machine almost - but in the latest models they have removed the stop start from machines with 210mm blades and less....
Hi Dean, I have a millwaukee
K 1000s kango hammer.
The apprentice used it and broke the chisel, now I can't get the piece out of the chuck
The chuck lock will not work so I can drop out the bit that's stuck.
Can you give me some tips on this please as I need the kango and its not that old
I'd appreciate your help, cheers Dean
I would find it much easier to watch if you got a stand for the camera. I get exhausted watching you fumble with one hand.... LOL
God knows the cost of any festool makes fixing it worth it
Happy New Year Dean. Could you tell me the make of the angles cutters you are using (yellow and red handle). Would love to pick up a pair and I can tell you like your hand tool quality.
They are actualy draper Expert ergo plus

@@deandohertygreaser Cheers Deano!!
I noticed you don’t get any Black and Decker machines in for repairs 🤔
Great videos. Where do you get your H07 molded plug cable from? I need 5m x 1.5mm, I can only find 3m max, thanks anyone who knows.
I get it from a supplier in roller of 100mtr
800w / 240v = 3.3A so that 3A fuse probably worked for a while but obviously over its rating. a 5A minimum needed there
Your forgetting start up. It will draw a lot of amps on start up
My guess is that the original fuse blew, was replaced with the 3 amp which blew on start up so concluded an internal fault.@@deandohertygreaser
Can you fix Milwaukee chargers ,ni
Fantastic video. thanks can iask you why youdont have high regard for Milwaukee cordless tools.........? thanks
The quality of the internal parts like the controlers, switch and bearings are simply very cheap. Especisly for the price of the tool.
They give the most trouble of any modern tool and they simply last no time at all. They are OK in the states were you get a 5 year warranty, but not here.
oh NO Ive lots of them ,but Im only a diyer who does work for friends.......hopefuly they might last if i look after them@@deandohertygreaser
What is the best Make of tool........? thanks
Been following your vids, impressive. Now left hand doing recording, right hand doing some work.......😢 naaah.
Hi sorry do you work for yourself or a company and also which brand would you recommend
Dean, do you know anything about the Flex brand sold at Lowes in the US?
Hi Dean, hope you're having a grand Sunday. I know your opinion on Milwaukee (power but poor longevity, can't replace single components), Makita not as powerful but lasts longer easier to fix if needed. But what about Dewalt? What is your opinion on them? As we are a farm and the price difference between Makita and Dewalt is eye watering for some tools? Impacts, batteries, drills, drivers, circular saws?
Much appreciated
I quite happy with Dewalt cordless tools, the older reciprocating saws are very powerful, and 20v impacts and drills are great! I have milwaukee drills and impacts too, they are older, and thus heavier, but very satisfied with them, and I love the milwaukee Sawzall for single handed operation! I buy used when I have to, but I'm able to buy new these days.hope that helps!
You're in the US? milwaukee and de walt? You're in the EU? Bosch and makita
I've also been using DeWalt for a long time myself. I bought my first one - a 9.6v NiCd drill when I was 16(man I thought I was so cool back then!😀). Well I'm now 46 and I'm still using DeWalt tools aside from a few PorterCable tools(older - when they were more top of the line), Bosch (grinder & hammer drill). I use Bostich for pneumatic air nailguns too. I think the fact of having Stanley Black & Decker Tools(SBD) as the parent company of DeWalt, Bostich & all of the other brands brings a little more to the table then the Chinese owned company TTI who own Milwaukee, Ridgid & Ryobi, etc may have🤔. Idk, just my opinion.🤷♂️ Plus the fact that DeWalt has 60v flexvolt that are backwards compatible w\ their reg 20v XR line. Nowadays, there's so much back & forth competition between all these co's that it doesn't really matter which one you pick. They all have many good tools to choose from, mostly all with reasonably comparable prices. Unless it's one or 2 specific specialized tools(HVAC, plumbing, mechanic, etc) that you need, just go with the battery system tools that you are invested into already. The competition between the top 3 companies is crazy & they just keep *trying* to better each other daily. The (Chevron owned) Flex brand tools are really gaining weight and traction in the field too, they're 24v & are very powerful tools, especially w\ the new pouch cel batts(Both Dewalt & Milwaukee have pouch cel batts now too). Go check out the @TorqueTestChannel on here to see all the many comparison vids they do weekly to get an idea on what you want to know. If I wasn't so invested in DeWalt I'd definitely consider Flex & Milwaukee. Anyways sorry for my rant, hope it helps you make a decision. 😀👍👌🛠️🔩🔧⚡🔋🔌⚠️🚧👨🔧
👍👍
am i the only one that saw that u installed the speed controller on the festool the wrong way?
i have a question regarding circular saw from dewalt dcs391 or dcs565, withc one you feel is better, or easier to service?
got my response in the final part of the video, so brushless it is dcs565 :)
I was just wondering where is your shop based?
Cool 😊😊😊
In your opinion what is the best battery power planner
Think someone didn’t do there PAT correctly. 10/10/23. Cable has been damaged way before that 👌👍 bloody great content tho 👌👌
The sawdust boogers are gonna be good tonight, haha.
Why do they call them diamond core drills?
Joe at Joes Classic Games YT channel would say “It’s Broke”.
i want to change all my tools from makita to dewalt or melwakee.what do u think about that its a good or bad decision?
Older Milwaukee are good but not recently made ones. Makita is mostly quality stuff. Dewalt too. Not sure you’d be any better going over to a different brand. I’m a Makita guy myself. All the other brands sold out to multi-national corporations but Makita is still the same company as always as far as I know. Seems like they make more reliable tools overall too. You can always use battery adapters and buy the tool you need rather than switching over to a different brand as well. Just food for thought.
maybe the 3 amp fuse instead of the 13 amp fuse was a should have gone to specsavers issue, hahaha
How much do you charge to change a fuse lol
Would some sort of camera harness work free up your other hand 👌🤔👍
My guy. I love this channel. Love all the tips and tricks. But my friend, can you fix your fingers? Are you testing grinders with them? Good Lord man. I cringe every time when I see a hunk of flesh missing 😂
Can you tell me Dean what would be a good Grease to use to lubricate pistons and cylinders that I could buy that is not from the manufacturers because the manufacturers Greece is extremely expensive which I can't afford at this time
Any lithium based grease will work. But lighter viscosity ones would suit better
That Drill has 800W, meaning a slow Blow 3A Fuse could have been the appropriate factory choice there (startup- & load-current spikes considered)! By all means: 13A - Are You Serious?! This thing would catch fire in someone’s Hands without the fuse blowing! Honestly, that’s something any electrical engineer would call irresponsible… Please just think again next time you change the rating on any fuse.
what do you think is the best brand overall out there ??
Makita 100%
Hilti
Hi Dean. Love your videos but you made me miserable. Telling me that Milwaukee are no longer the quality they used to be. Nor are they easily repairable. Last few years I've switched over to Milwaukee from De Walt ! Do not like the fact that Americans get 5 year warranty and we only get 1 year either !!
Question please. Years ago I bought a Graco hand held paint sprayer with 18 v batteries. Used it on a big house renovation and then did not use it again for over a year but all the batteries had failed (3) . I was not happy but they were out of warranty. New ones were £180 each ! Now you cannot even get them. Can they be repaired ? I have seen videos where you can open the casing and replace the cells ? What are your thoughts please....
I think you put up the wrong thumbnail, just a heads up
Yea. Just realised as I hit upload. But it takes 2 hours to load, so I left it until it was loaded. Changed now 👍
@@deandohertygreaser np, thanks!
Could anyone recommend what tool brand I should go with?
I was thinking Dewalt or Makita.
Both are good. I nearly always buy used tools, if the price is right, I'll buy almost any brand.
Makita hands down
@@richardmccann4815 Only thing that's annoying these days are the batteries, makes it more expensive and more of a pain in the arse to have more than one brand.
@@agnosticevolutionist3567 Why is that? do Makita last longer? are they nicer to use?
