    The R1>L2 combo on the swordsman is very fun. You can get the adaptability up to at least 20 by cheesing the Dragonrider so the low health is not an issue if you're already good at dodging. But I would get rid of those weapons ASAP after the first 4 bosses.

  • @wildchildeik7038

    For miracles emit force is a very useful offensive sorcery and basically takes the place of lightning spear. You can loot it just after killing dragonrider so only needs 1 boss killed, and is looted off the ground in no man's wharf. It's right outside of the building with the greatsword chest, it's up by the darkdwellers so just use a torch and you can run to emit force without killing a single enemy.

      The mace is also arguably better than the morning star, mace has higher dmg and scalings but morning star has bleed. Both are solid weapons and can honestly last an entire playthrough. Mace also has lower stat requirements.

  • @themadhattress5008
    @themadhattress5008 2 роки тому +16

    Start with the cleric if you want extra heals and to start off with a very good early-game weapon. The mace is incredible, especially when upgraded. Sorcerer is good because you get late-game armour and you start off with a sorcerer's staff. Most all enemies are weak or weak enough to magic to make it a viable, especially if you're looking for an 'easy' way to get past troublesome enemies with some decent range. You can get more casts for soul arrow very early on as well to carry you further until you can get stronger spells. The explorer is the relatively class if you want to start with a good amount of adp. Not only that, but the class starts with a lot of items already -- some useful, some not. Best things of note is the (free) pharos lockstone and the 20 extra lifegems -- useful for when you've got that one and only estus flask use at the start. Additionally, the traveling merchant hat is good for aiding in farming well into the early game. If you can forgive how weak the explorer class is until you can level or get a better weapon (hand axe or the morning star are good choices), it's not too bad.

    I honestly have to say that there really isn't really a wrong decision when choosing a class. And the cleric is not useless at all, he has the mace at the beginning that you can play until the end-game without Any Problems. In addition, he can live a long time, and he also does not need Homeward bones because he has his miracle. And yes, the Lightning Spears were nerfed, no question, but with the right equipment you can do a lot of damage, even if it's only in the late game.

    Thank you for this wonderful video. How good are quality builds in DS2:SOTFS? I've played Demon's Souls and Darks Souls Remastered extensively. Kind of interested in playing a tank type dex character. Should I do quality or can I go with a lot of armor and have a nice dex weapon & bow? Bow is important to me, as I won't have any magic skills.

    Explorer and healing wares. Any other answer is massively wrong.
    You end up with 2 daggers so no worrying about breakage and you can quickly level enough to use the fire longsword. From there you can build anything and when you respec all of your stats go super low except adp but everyone needs at least 12 so it's fine.
    You get a tonne of items plus the healing wares aaaand the hat which increases drop rate which means more cool stuff and more crap to sell to Gavlan.
    Lots of people will say take an aesthetic and double cheese fatty dragonrider but that aggros the heide knights and puts that area into NG+ which makes getting to the slayer a lot harder especially if you're a total noob.
    Take explorer, get FLS, level up by killing hollows until you can use it. Kill Maughlan. Wear his gear and kill ironclads in the forest until you have 12k souls. Get the branch from Dementia, talk to her and get the +1 serpent ring. Now go kill the hippo in the forest 12x for about 20,000 souls. Takes about an hour but for an experienced player you're now set to do whatever you want and for a noob you've got to practice and get better, you're OP, have loads of items, the sequence isn't broken and Heide isn't going to be an absolute bastard to get through.

    im just now getting around to ds2 and its been an amazing experience so far. i started off with explorer cause of all those goodies and it seemed like the most 'balanced' i guess (so i wouldnt waste as many souls), but since i almost always first time fromsoft games with mage (cause it IS a lot easier) i ended up making a sorc as well, which ive progressed further on now (just beat the last giant and got the soldiers key!)
    i was going to go with cleric but faith hasnt been amazing since demons souls honestly, so kinda glad i avoided that. i will defo be making a knight soon as well cause they seem fun and i dont want to get too comfortable with spell slinging ya kno? i almost always end up INT/DEX/STR hybird, jack of all trades master of none kinda vibe regardless, but itll still be nice to play a knight, since in the other games i didnt really enjoy melee that much honestly. ds2 seems like a lot more things 'work' and more importantly /feel/ good. enjoying all the weapons movesets and such.
    im semi aware this is the least popular/liked of the souls games, but im very much enjoying it. its been ages since i played demons or dark souls 1 so that prob has a lot to do with it (and will eventually play ds3 after i feel like ive completed ds2 enough haha.) anyways, thank you.

      @@jonathanmeza570 its pretty meh in every game but demons imo. blessed giving hp regen on top of faith scaling made it pretty broken, especially for pve/pvm. i think its been average to weak in all the other titles to compensate and let other things shine a bit more. similar to how ds2 dlc is more difficult for magic users since base game is so easy.
      i am glad they keep giving faith some variety every game tho, its slowly but surely catching up to spells. but yeh, the only miracle i loved in ds1 was darkmoon blade honestly. the rest were cool, or could be useful/situational but were mostly gimmicks.

  • @christophercollins3632
    @christophercollins3632 2 роки тому +29

    I used to always pick Cleric, bc the Mace is amazing, and the extra heal spell helps early on. Ugly armor imo, but decent stat-wise.
    Explorer gets so many items, why not? Once you’re good at the game, the heal spell doesn’t contribute much. And high starting Agility. I chose this class for my no-death run bc of the items.
    Knight is the best for creating a low SM invader/helper. Follow a guide to early Agape Ring. Good starting stats. Especially high HP, necessary for fall into Majula pit without cat ring.
    Warrior can use just about any early weapon. I never pick it. I’d rather have a dex or str focused build early. But if you want Claymore, sure.
    Sorcerer is fine. Having a ranged option for crowd control really helps. Better than Cleric for a Hex caster.
    Swordsman is better for experienced players. Low HP is noticeable. The swords are some of my least favorite. They’re both +1, but it’s a waste for me since I’m moving on to a better weapon, but that’s me.
    The Bandit is severely compromised in Agility. But is a great class for non magic builds, as the number of stats in INT/FTH is the lowest, so you’re getting the most stats in a weapon build. If you’re like me, even a strength build could use that high dex for many great weapons.
    Deprived is a solid starting class only because its Agility is already 86. Several classes are 85, which is 60% less invulnerability during a roll. It’s fun to say you started as deprived, but after 1 or 2 bosses, the distance between it and other classes is next to nil.
    Best gift is the Bonfire Ascetic in terms of raw power, and nothing comes close. But it’s not practical in many games. So the Healing Wares is next best gift. Life Ring is in a chest very early on, so that’s the worst gift. Everything else is a single use of something easy to find. Even the Seed, if you cheese Armorer Dennis by respawning the invasion repeatedly. For a new player, Healing Wares. For a pro, especially one with a plan like getting the Moonlight Greatsword , or Chaos Blade in first playthrough, go Bonfire Ascetic.

    • @nybethobdilord6912
      @nybethobdilord6912 Рік тому

      Sorcerer is only better than the Cleric for hexes if you plan on using only ranged magical attacks.
      If you invest points into strength to wield any sort of weapon to be buffed then the Cleric is a more optimal choice.

  • @Dzimko-rc2io
    @Dzimko-rc2io Місяць тому

    Cleric is decent because of:
    1. You can buy boltstones early instead of farming. So it's very easy to infuse weapons
    2. Low ADP means that on higher levels you can just invest in attunement and save few points (50 attunement and 5 ADP - 96 agility)
    3. Early game simple healing miracle is like 3 extra estuses while exploring
    4. High strength with a really good starting weapon.
    I always played as a knight but cleric IMHO is better for elemental damage minmaxing

    Disagree on the Cleric. Even though the offensive projectile miracles were heavily nerfed the fact that the class starts with good strength and faith makes it the best class for hybrid builds that buff their weapon with Lightning or Dark which are the best elements to use against most enemies and are the strongest builds in the game.
    I'd only ever not recommend this class if you plan on going for a pure strength build. But if you want an optimized class for a lightning, dark or even flame build then this is hands down the best one. Otherwise pick Sorcerer.

    For me the best class used to be Bandit. Back when Miracle builds were a thing his 1 INT guaranteed you waste as few points as possible (after talking to NPCs with 10 int and then using the Soul Vessel that is). Also great for 60 FTH pyromancer builds... AND pure Melee builds! Least amount of points wasted on non-physical stats: ATT+INT+FTH=11 points wasted, wich is simply unbeatable by any other class with second best being Knight having 13 points wasted on magic-ish stats). Only drawback of the Bandit is one too many points in VIT for perfect Flynn+TDR... Well, it was too fragile anyway. Yeah, I know there's Soul Memory based matchmaking and absolutely NO reason to ever stay at certain levels (meaning no reason not going all-in on all stats eventually), but I still love min-maxing. Just for the feeling of having not a single point wasted. Perfect build and all that.

Unfortunately, their starting weapon is atrocious and the shield is easily replaced very early on and even though they start with a full armor set, it's one of the worst sets in the game.
    Knight is by far the best class, for any player, of any skill level. They spec decently into FTH, but low ATN and INT means that Sorcery and Hexes are more difficult to use early game. Luckily, that's the only downfall of the Knight. Their high VGR and ADP make them incredibly survivable early game, they have great starting armor, and they're starting weapon is the second best, right behind the Cleric's Mace. Love this guy.
    Swordsman is easily my least favorite class and definitely not suited for new players. Low VGR and STM really don't complement the powerstance lifestyle. Their armor is at least decent and their weapons are good early on, but the +1 upgrades on them only help for so long. Really not a fan of this class.
    I really want to like the Bandit. Great starting weapons, good armor, high VGR, and the highest starting STM, but their mismatched stats really don't help them at all. If they're DEX and STR were flipped and they're VIT and ADP were flipped as well, they'd make a lot more sense, and probably be up there with the Knight.
    I used to love the Cleric. Incredible starting weapon and free heals seemed like a no-brainer, but high VGR and FTH really don't make up for their STM and ADP shortcomings.
    Sorcerer is one of my favorites and a great stepping stone for players wanting to dabble in magic. Plinking enemies from a safe distance is always fun and their VGR is high enough that you won't get wrecked by everything. Only glaring issue for me, is their starting STR. You'll barely be able to handle your Dagger early on, let alone anything else you may find.
    Explorer has recently become my favorite class. Their starting items are all fairly decent. Witching Urns and Aromatic Ooze will always be helpful and an extra Pharos Lockstone never hurts. Their armor is fairly decent early game, only lacking Poise. However, the Hood does offer an enchantment equal to that of the Gold Serpent Ring, making it very valuable early game, especially if farming for specific items, notably from Heide Knights. Their starting stats all are fairly great, with the clear standout being their high ADP and slightly below average INT and FTH. Highly suggest the Explorer.
    Deprived is a blank slate and that's it. Their stats are average, no clothes, no weapon, and no healing to speak of. Really only for experienced players, build min-maxers, and new players that're also psycho.

      Personally i place Sorcerer just above knight. But only because once in the Forest of Giants i can cheese that first ogre pretty efficiently from the cave mouth meaning i dont have to worry about him hitting me for around 20 turns in the first area while i farm souls to up my stats to nearly 15 in everything. Can also easily take out the ogre in things betwixt before the firekeepers hut. Usually i will grab the lifering but i have sometimes grabbed the fragrant branch to unpetrify the one hollow in the tutorial area after the hut so i could snag me a couple of more ogres so by the time i pass the first fog gate in the giants forest i could have killed me a ton of Ogres and built my level up! Boosting health, stamina, carry wgt, strength, dex, adaptability and int before even getting into the fort properly. Then i go about running most areas 20 times in the fort without the soldiers key to build souls and levels. Then i try to kill the persuer at his first spawn location. If i die instead 3 new enemies will spawn and i can kill them like 20 more times for more souls.
      Then i make my way to pate and those hollows down there behind the trap gate or go in the back way up the ladder on the other side of the wall across from him and attack them from that direction! Lol usually safer going that way. Then i go back out drop down go around climb back up and go the other way and kill the invisible hollow then grab the items up there then drop attack the hollow knight with the rapier and grab the chest then drop down. And make my way to the locked gate and open it. Only then do i try for the item on the giant sword! Since its a shorter walk back in case i die lol.

    How the hell do you parry so well in this game? I have 200 hours in and I suck at parrying. DS1 I can do it fine but this one parrying is slow.

    • @dexter_yours_truly
      @dexter_yours_truly 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah. I cant parry for shit in ds2 but hit almost 100% in ds3. I noticed that small shields are best for parries. People say, target shield, buckler aso. Are the best but i find the timing confusing. My fav parrytools are small leather shield because .5 weight and better stats than many 1.5 unit small shields. Also small cleric parma/ thronewatcher shield for spellparry which is more useful than i initially thought.

    • @gustavovm491
      @gustavovm491 9 місяців тому +1

      Parrying is a lot easier with small shields like the one you find on the way to Tower of Flame. Practice with the heide knights near the bonfire, their regular slash is very easy to parry. The Pursuer dash attack is also easy to parry and while no riposte is available it gives you time for 3 hits.

      That is a great build you really cant go wrong with. I recomend visiting navlan in aldias keep and doing his quest. You can use hex weapon untill you get flame weapon, because you are good with both hexes and pyromancy. And also you can use a soul vessel to talk to Felkin the outcast and get his hexer hood. Need 20 INT/FTH
      Sry for the long coment there is a lot to cover. I tuch on, and explain many builds and strategies in my Playthough. And i use many spells including pyromancies. Good Luck.

      Sorcerer and get a rapier. Farm the one lizard behind the iron door blocked by the woman statue, get a faint stone or two. After beating Pursuer go to Lost Bastille, grab the Dull Ember and go to McDuff, infuse your staff with the faint stone, it will make your spells more powerful. You might want to infuse your melee weapon too if you don't plan on getting high on dex points.

    I almost always start swordsman for the extra damage. Extra damage means less time spent in combat, which means less time to make mistakes that will get you killed.
    HP early game are kinda overrated. You will need to learn how to dodge early or the game is going to suck.
    Late game, high HP is nice, only because a single mistake causes a LOT of damage.
    Regardless, early levels are pretty cheap, so you can fix just about any classes shortcomings early.
    The only starting class I would say is bad is Deprived. For any build, there is going to be a more efficient class, and starting off with no gear is really challenging, even if you can find good stuff pretty early.

    I recommend at least getting Vigor to 10 or 12 before the first boss.
