@@4skintim962 It was overhyped because originally it was going to be a much better (looking) game. Apparently it was actually intended as next-gen title, but then they suddenly decided to still release it on PS3 and with 2 years less development time. They had to cut whole areas and gameplay mechanics to make it in time. Considering all that I gotta say it's impressive it's not a total trainwreck. But still, so much wasted potential. And am I the only one who finds the original DS2 better than Scholar of the First Sin? I wish we could still buy the original version on the newer platforms.
Accidentally scheduled this for 5AM... congrats to the people who saw it during that mistake, haha. Assuming this video does well like the Dark Souls 1 video did, I'll make videos about the remaining games too. Not sure if there's enough content to dedicate one video for each game, but maybe I'll round them all off into one video, or something... not sure. We'll see.
I wonder how long it would take to completely remove all life from the game. Go through every area, killing every enemy enough times so that they stop spawning.
So, if we included leveling into the equation, it changes quite a lot for this. First of all, the main door this opens is that the cleric's weapon has a B scaling in strength, and once you get a high enough level you should be able to 2 shot every enemy in the run. This means that: 1. You no longer have to use the tree strat to kill the enemies 2. You will be able to include the 2nd Falconer into the run, increasing the amount of souls substantially 3. Since you don't have to wait for the enemies to essentially kill themselves you will be able to kill them much closer to the bonfire, as well as kill them faster in general, decreasing the amount of time per run by quite a bit 4. Since you're able to kill them properly you'll be able to pick up any of the potential gear they drop, which you should be able to sell to the cat for more souls And, most importantly: 5. It's going to be much less boring then just standing there behind a stupid tree. For the best and most consistent result I would recommend getting your strength to 20(which would require getting to lvl 23) before attempting this, which will should allow you to kill both the Falconers and Dark Spirits in two swings. Keep in mind that this will cost you 11032 souls. Just doing some rough calculations and using the exact same rate as shown in the video, this would net you 1911 souls per run and 76,440 souls per hour. The total time this would take just based off of that would be ~5329 hours, or 222 days. This would be around 7.4 months or ~62% of one year. Dividing this by .33 would end up being around 1.87 years. A total difference of .43 to the original value factoring nothing else in is huge, and brings this from almost no chance of happening to potentially occurring. Especially once you consider that doing incredibly long runs/speedruns already happens and I can see this being legitimately attempted by someone.
I think this respawn stop mechanic is one of the best parts of dark souls 2. In my opinion this should have been refined and used for all later souls games as well
I really like that enemies dissappear after so many kills because there are areas in the game that would've been impossible for me to get past without it, namely the lava area with the smelter demon and the ancient dragon area
As someone who loves grinding and dose it a lot without even thinking about it It can be annoying But they put in several ways to get around it And it makes getting to the boss easier So overall it's not for me but I think it's s good feature
I'd day it was a bad feature in any other souls game, but sotfs was so bloated with enemies, it needed perma death after so many times. DS2 was so damn unbalanced lol
Every person that ever worked at the assembly line till retirement would consider this a walk in the park. Can't imagine myself doing that. Every day, for 30-40 years straight, turn off your brain for 8 hours. Jesus fuck, that's a scary thought.
Hello everyone! I'm curious, how are you finding this video? It seems to have gotten a big boost recently (from around 2.7k views up to nearly 8k now in a couple of weeks) and the analytics aren't telling me much. I'm wondering if it got posted anywhere in particular or if the algorithm decided to push me a bit.
@@dragonborn0295 Unlikely. I had planned on it, but when researching it I found that it would make for a pretty dull video. It is essentially just a straight-up grind with very little setup. The only interesting part was the number of souls, which off the top of my head was 2.6 billion or so.
Found this video off of the other two, the first of which just randomly showed up in my recommendations, presumably because I watch other Dark Souls related videos.

This sort of built off the original video. The idea is what it would take to level up to max as though you had never left. We had to go to Majula just because that's the only way the challenge can work in this game.
@@iliketurtles1096 Since we had to go to Majula to allow the challenge to be possible at all, I considered everything in Majula fair game. Otherwise it would be totally arbitrary what was and wasn't allowed. Which, I suppose you could argue it is anyway if you wanted. The despawning thing is actually a very useful mechanic when fighting against invaders. I don’t know why people hate that mechanic cuz it helps out a lot and it’s not like they permanently despawn you can just join that covenant and still farm so you have options here. The more you play dark souls 2 the better you understand how good the game is. The small white soapstone is probably the best thing dark souls has ever made and it’s only in 2 which is a shame. I’ve helped so many people get items and neat secrets after they’ve killed the boss in the area.
@@s4ty-s4t The smaller one has a small time limit before you get booted from the hosts game. I think its like 40mins for the big one and 20 for the small one. @@lightingthief4482 All three games have issues, none of them are perfect by any means. And... DS2 DLCs bad? Wtf. Almost anyone, even people who hated the game would agree that the DLCs were the best part of the game. lol
@@alonneknight7710 you have to be kidding me with that. Almost everyone I know says the DLC is the worst. Awful enemy placements, cheap enemies, most bosses are subpar(if you say all DLC bosses are good, you're full of shit), awful bonfire placements, awful level design, etc. That frozen wasteland with the bs reindeer and the crappy cheap 'One is good but what about two?' boss at the end of it is a good example.
@@lightingthief4482 @Lighting Thief You should get out of your bubble of friends and ask other people then. The DLCs have the best level design of the game, they are the most well crafted pieces of map of the entire game. Shulva is a fantastic puzzle map, Brume Tower is an amazing vertical level design, and Eleum Loyce has like a million shortcuts. The bosses are all the best of the game. Aside the optional bosses like Blue Smelter Demon and the two tigres (because yes, they ARE lame), the rest are amazing bosses (Elana, Sinh, Sir Alonne, Fume Knight, Ivory King). Also, what the fuck do you mean by bad bonfire placement? By far the Souls game with the worst bonfires is DS3, that has one like every 2 minutes (Undead Setlement, the way to the Cathedral has like 3 bonfires, Dragonslayer Armour ~ Grand Archives... These are just a FEW examples). Also, please elaborate on what you mean by "cheap enemies", in a series with the Jailers From DS3 and the Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne. What cheap and UNFAIR enemy is on any of the DLCs? Again, you can shit on DS2 all you want, i respect your opinion, but if you're gonna call the DLCs bad, you'll have to try harder than that.
@@lightingthief4482 WTF you on lol. Sir Alonne was extremely memorable as a dlc boss and Ivory King was badass af when you consider all the lore and fight him with HIS OWN KNIGHTS for a brawl. This what Miyazaki spected from the players to do after they realeased the game, i thinks this is the correct way to play the game, keep it up champ :D
Tbh, once you got a few levels you can probably kill the enemies instead of blocking them into the abyss. This would improve the timing per run significantly
You could probably shave off quite a bit of time if you killed Emerald Herald for the Aged Feather, the time saved from having an infinite homeward bone would definitely make up for the 2500 extra souls needed to revive her assuming you were to save up all of the souls to use all at once.
Even if this is possible, spending eight hours a day, every day, for over two years of your life doing this grind, it feels more insane than getting to level 99 in FF7 or Kingdom Hearts beginning areas.
@@bradmace6144 Well it’s a different game. To me, it’s new mechanics to learn and it’s possible to master. It’s not just a roll fest like Dark Souls 3. I appreciate it because then I don’t have to deal with invaders being annoying and doing nothing but dodge roll.
Dark souls 2 was secretly the best souls all along. I'm sorry you got snippy because souls 2 cared more about player progress than infinite enemies for your silly 'challenge'. Hell it actually enables the option thru the covenant. I actually didn't know what was a feature.

@@YcleptCrazy I think that's very well put ds3 feels very polished and has excellent presentation but it just feels lifeless it's like the difference between the original Spiderman trilogy and the MCU
DS3 Is also the most linear of all and I find this one of the things that gives the game that "souless" impression. Even DeS and BB has better level design. Yesterday o was discussing in reddit how I found DS3 the most boring because of the linear progression of the game, specially the beginning, while in other games you have multiple choices from the very beginning.
Another thing worth noting about this specific instance is that unlike Dark Souls 1, its entirely possible to actually *use* the souls you're gaining within the allowed areas of Majula and Things Betwixt. The time would naturally be lowered significantly as soon as you gain the levels in HP and power to actually (possibly) be able to properly fight some of the enemies in question, not to mention that you would be able to get slightly more optimal with handling the AI and such over time. The 2.3 year figure could actually be more reasonable.
@@nikolasferreira3247 You don't fight it, you accept it and adapt there's a ring you can get fairly early on that negates any souls you can get, fair trade if you ask me. I personally like this mechanic because all of those twinking try-hard invaders actually need to try to get their things work, rather than just watching one video, copying it then procceding to deal 10x more damage having way more consumables like estus and using dlc weapons against players that are just doing a normal playthrough, oh and don't forget that point down after he one shots you with his Ringed Knight straight sword.
@@Tacticaviator7 soul memory was stupid, it punishes players for making mistakes. You have bent the rules way too much, I think the only thing you're allowed to do in majula is join the covenant of champions and thats all, everything else should be done in things betwixt
Can't wait for the "Can you reach max level in the Cemetary of Ash in Dark Souls 3" video. It's actually quite a large area as long as you don't go directly inside Firelink Shrine, with plenty of hollows and even a dog.
Nice but theoretically this could go faster depending on the device's load times after pushing the red phantoms and falconeer off you could jump off the ledge run back redo the pushing set up and reclaim your souls before jumpinh off again saving you runing back to the bonfire.
I haven't! I recently started a new job, so I've been somewhat focused on that but I've started a few video projects that haven't panned out. I have pretty severe ADHD which can make sticking to something kind of difficult, but I'll definitely be making more videos!
I think whenever I ended my character on ds2 at the level of 838 I had 541 + million souls , every item and rank in each covenants to the max rank. That was on my Phyxium account on the Xbox 360. I love this game so much, it had best PvP experiences and so much more!!! Currently I’m replaying it on the Xbox one for the time again. It’s awesome.
Loved the video! Can we get an alternative answer with the following restrictions? (Good excuse for another DS video :P ) - No exploits (setting FPS to 20 and jumping over the ledge) - Don't use anything outside of the cave. You can leave to join the covenant, but that's it. - No bonfire ascetic. I feel this is more in spirit to the experience of DS1.
@@СильвестрСтароверов Imagine actually thinking that that was an argument. There are sections of every game that suck ass, whether because of rushed development or not. Nobody has ever made the claim that the worst areas of dark souls are better than the best areas of 2 and 3.

Grinding to the Max Level in the Tutorial of Dark Souls II Step 1: Leave the tutorial area 🤔 If you're gonna count Majula, and HAVE go there to even begin the setup, then just farm infite Bonefire Asthetic from the basement skeletons and make the mobs worth 50k each by pumping them to NG+7. Would cut the whole process down by a lot since the mobs you're farming die to gravity anyways.
You'd have to go to the Forest of the Fallen Giants to do that. The only reason we're forced to go to Majula is that otherwise enemies despawn without the covenant. But since we have to have the covenant. And since we have to do that, I feel Majula should be open for use as otherwise it becomes arbitrary what can and can't be utilized.

@@4skintim962 It was overhyped because originally it was going to be a much better (looking) game. Apparently it was actually intended as next-gen title, but then they suddenly decided to still release it on PS3 and with 2 years less development time. Your vid hit my recommended feed, congrats
That's awesome!
Legend has it he's still standing behind that tree to this day...
So, if we included leveling into the equation, it changes quite a lot for this. First of all, the main door this opens is that the cleric's weapon has a B scaling in strength, and once you get a high enough level you should be able to 2 shot every enemy in the run. This means that:
1. You no longer have to use the tree strat to kill the enemies
2. You will be able to include the 2nd Falconer into the run, increasing the amount of souls substantially
3. Since you don't have to wait for the enemies to essentially kill themselves you will be able to kill them much closer to the bonfire, as well as kill them faster in general, decreasing the amount of time per run by quite a bit
4. Since you're able to kill them properly you'll be able to pick up any of the potential gear they drop, which you should be able to sell to the cat for more souls
And, most importantly: 5.
You can’t sell items to the cat. Gavlan wheel, Gavlan arrest for DUI
As someone who loves grinding and dose it a lot without even thinking about it
It can be annoying
But they put in several ways to get around it
And it makes getting to the boss easier
So overall it's not for me but I think it's s good feature
you are right fuck that area
I'd day it was a bad feature in any other souls game, but sotfs was so bloated with enemies, it needed perma death after so many times. DS2 was so damn unbalanced lol
I've never ever cleared an enemy out of any area. Played this game probably 20+ times

Couldn't you level up with the souls (since that's the point) and get strong enough to kill them in way less than 1:30 eventually though?
This sort of built off the original video. The idea is what it would take to level up to max as though you had never left. We had to go to Majula just because that's the only way the challenge can work in this game.
@@FenoTheFox but if thats the case then why allow yourself access to the majula merchant?
@@iliketurtles1096 Since we had to go to Majula to allow the challenge to be possible at all, I considered everything in Majula fair game.

Tbh, once you got a few levels you can probably kill the enemies instead of blocking them into the abyss. This would improve the timing per run significantly
Now this is math I can understand
The delivery of the "your wrong" at 5:29 is fucking impeccable.
You could probably shave off quite a bit of time if you killed Emerald Herald for the Aged Feather, the time saved from having an infinite homeward bone would definitely make up for the 2500 extra souls needed to revive her assuming you were to save up all of the souls to use all at once.

If you're gonna count Majula, and HAVE go there to even begin the setup, then just farm infite Bonefire Asthetic from the basement skeletons and make the mobs worth 50k each by pumping them to NG+7.
@@FenoTheFoxOh, I'm misremembering the skeletons in Majula dropping Bonfire Aesthetics when they in fact drop Human Effigies.
