- Welcome back to Jason's Macintosh Museum!
This is the second video in the series on the Apple Macintosh LC 630 from 1994.
In this video, the Macintosh LC 630 from 1994 will be started up to demonstrate the Macintosh System (MacOS) 8.1.
The games "SimTower" and "Where in the U.S.A. is Carmen Sandiego?" will also be demonstrated. - Наука та технологія
I loved SimTower as a kid. I found out later the reason the elvator mechanics are so deep and realistic is because the game originally started out as an elevator simulator to help building owners program their real elevators! They just added a game around it. I used to leave the game running while I slept to collect tons of money once my tower was mostly self-sufficient. There's some great little details in this game like when Christmas comes around you can see Santa Claus fly overhead.
Love your videos, keep it up man. I grew up in a house full of old macs. I had a Mac Plus, then a IIfx, a 7200/90, a rev. a iMac, and an iBook SE (466Mhz). It was sometimes frustrating not being able to play all the games my PC buddies had like Half-Life but I still played some great games like this.
You should play some more Ambrosia games in your future videos, one of my favorites was Harry the Handsome Executive. Maybe save it for a PowerPC mac though.
Excellent video! Please keep making them!
David Halligan I intend to! I have only covered about one quarter of my collection so far!
I remember seeing this computer in the Safecracker computer game from 1997, not from 2006, that ironically enough, was actually designed for Macs due to the Quicktime components it was made with. This is also where I first remember the familiar startup chime that when you turn it on in the game, just before you play the Minesweeper mini-game within the LC630.
I've got one of these today, it was about time to upgrade from my Commodore 64.
Owned a 630CD for years, miss it quite a bit - playing Myst on it in 1994 was mind-boggling. It must've weighed 50 pounds with the monitor. I also miss ClarisWorks!
yesss myst! we had one at my school and the cds were encased.in like a plastic tray.
I just LOVE Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego! Although I played the MS-DOS version of it.
Can’t believe that I’ve only just found this video. I bought my Performa 630 (can’t remember what the difference was between the ‘Performa’ and standard ‘LC’ 630 now, if any) in 1994 when I was doing my graphic design degree. Despite all the good intensions I think I lost a good part of my creative productivity when Bungie released ‘Marathon’ later in the year! Wonderful machine, but with very limited upgrade options. Still, it did the job for my degree.
God I love SimTower, there is just something amazingly soothing about playing it. lol
Transcendental Airwaves I love it too - I played it all the time in the late 1990s!
Excellent, this is a great video. Have you thought of doing a let's play series of this game, on this Mac? I would love to see that.
I really wish the app store would release this game!
There are shortcuts to build a two or three layer lobby. I forgot what they were though...( could be pressing the apple button while draging the lobby ) build your offices before 12.00 hours and not just before the weekend or you will lose a lot of money !
Greetz to Mr. Yoot Saito, I had a lot of fun with his game.
"Fallout Shelter" on android
How do you get the mouse to work properly? I already cleaned the trackball and set the speed to the highest in the menu. Your seems to work flawless, might i be able to connect an optical mouse to it?
sim.tower is also known as yoot tower. but yoot tower progressed and was upgraded/developed more and was redeveloped as an entirely different game. If you like sim tower its worth checking out yoot tower,
Yoot Saito is the original programmer /designer of SimTower.
I have this one. Where do you plug in the mouse? It’s been years since I used it and I don’t have the manuals
I've got a Performa 630CD on the way from eBay (essentially the same as this) and it has no OS...I've heard putting System 7.5.3 on requires burning floppies and that I have to have an OS like 7.5.3 to upgrade to 7.6.1, is this true? Having a really hard time finding System 7 online for a reasonable price...
burning floppys hahaha wtf are you smoking?? power supplies???
That was the first computer I owned
mine has just shat itself, i'm gutted
