It's odd that singers with great voices almost never pass that gene on to their offspring. There are exceptions like Natalie Cole. But 9 times out of 10, it doesn't happen.
I know! How amazing to have Jay Black as your father! His voice & personality were bigger than life! His children, wife & grandchildren must miss him terribly! I know all of us fans certainly do!!! He was a “such an amazing singer/entertainer & man!” May JAY BLACK REST IN PEACE!
My first contact with Jay came about when I was putting together a CD compilation of popular Jewish songs by various popular artists. I had already gotten rights for recordings by Tom Jones, Connie Francis, Johnny Mathis, Jackie Wilson...my best friend...and others, but I wanted to include "Where Is The Village", which they had once recorded in Yiddish & English. I wanted to interview Jay for the CD, and we spoke often by phone...he being in NY and me in Los Angeles. We became good friends and spoke every 2 weeks or so for a couple of years. One day he called to tell me he was asked to close the show for a Connie Francis tribute at the Friar's Club at the Waldorf in NY, he invited me to come as his guest....How could I refuse. He was very gracious and introduced me to all his celebrity friends, I was totally unprepared for that...he was a gracious host, and put on a hell of a show. We kept in contact on a regular basis until his dementia overtook him, but I will alway be thankful and honored to have been his friend. As to the CD, it proved to be very successful, much of which I owe to Jay..."Jewish Soul: The Heart & Soul of Jewish Music" www.amazon.com/Jewish-Soul-Heart-Music/dp/B08KBH4CQS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=995RVVY7MLNZ&dchild=1&keywords=jewish+soul+the+heart+and+soul+of+jewish+music&qid=1603308465&s=music&sprefix=jewish+

So amazing. Love his singing. Cara Mia is my most favourite, but they are all great. I will miss his voice. I’m so glad that I can still get his music on you tube any time I want.
About 10 years earlier he brought his son on stage in Boston at a show I was at. It was great! His son was 13, I think, at the time. Jay is a great comedian, as well.
Hey Jay is the VOICE. I can honestly say that because I saw him at least 10 times in concert and I did see Michael Jackson six times Janet Jackson Lady Gaga madonna but there is no voice like Jay black🥳🥳🥳
If..I could only sing and guitar with my Dad on some Buddy Holly...I'd love for the day.. second that thought, I'd blow him away on MrBassman. Luv ya dad!

What a voice. Having his son take the stage to sing showed his son has some chops, too.
Can you imagine having Jay Black as your father and trying to even sing with him and his great voice.
