JAY YOuU WERE ONE OF A KIND. STILL GOING TO THE END. I JUST LOVED YOUR SONGS. THIS MAGIC MOMENT SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. WALKING IN THE RAIN. COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER. LETS LOCK THE DOOR AND THROW AWAY THE KEY. MY FAVOURITE WILL ALWAYS BE. CARA MIA. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE HIGH RANGE OF NOTES IN THAT SONG. WOW WOW WOW JUST AMAZING. NEVER EVER GET TIRED OF THAT NUMBER JAY(DAVID) YOU ALWAYS BE ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ARTISTS. 2-11-38. TO 22-10-21. JUST 82 YEARS YOUNG. REST IN PIECE. R.I.P. MY FRIEND. YOU WERE ONE OF A KIND.
So many old preformers just give up. Not guys like Jay Black or Frankie Valli. The voice may strain, but the heart stills beats with love for his craft.
The difference between Jay and Frankie is vocal range. Frankie Valli, while being an awesome singer, had to rely on falsetto. Jay Black, Ray Orbison and Freddie Mercury could hit the low and high notes with ease. Journey's Steve Perry is close to those three. He can't quite hit their high notes but, he beats them on the low ones.
Agreed! He still hit the high note without going into falsetto. He had an operatic vocal range, not unlike Roy Orbison. I became enchanted with his voice as a tween in the 60's.
I can certainly vouch for Mr. Jay Black for l was so blessed to have seen him when he was at least 80 yrs-old at the Winter Dance Party in Clear Lake, Iowa and he absolutely NAILED those notes in Cara Mia. Just AWESOME!!!
@@welshieallovertheplace Thanks for the reply. I believe l did get his age mixed up with Joey Dee. I began to attend The Winter Dance Party back in 2014 and have been fortunate to have seen many of the greats there each year. Sadly, as you say. many of their great voices are no more.
I tight my 17 year old daughter this song. It’s something special between us. He’s still alive in everyone who listens to him and is happier for the experience.
Thank you, Jay Black, for all those magic moments. I was fortunate to see him in concerts many times and each concert was more memorable than the last. Rest in Peace.
"What a Pity? At his age he's lucky he's still around...Let along to be able to still Sing so well !!! I have this record (45 RM) in my collection!!!!This song will always be remembered ,and so will JAY Black, A very, very "TALENTED" Singer!!!!!!! May 9 , 2024.
Wasn't sure, but RIP 3 years ago wow .. Cara Mia has been stuck in my head since the first time i heard the sone and played it endlessly for weeks on end . Now ive heard it in my teen's, 20's, 30's & 40's, and come Febuary 17 2025, I'll of heard it in my 50's. After watching this video for the first time, Amazing! I turned 49 and my high's from A-Ha to Jay etc, are gone, but that man at his age then, wow! God bless his soul!
I believe I read where this was John Gotti’s favorite song. Say what you want about John Gotti, but you have to admit the guy had excellent taste in music.
LOL. I love Jay Black but definitely not the highest note ever in a song. I know because I've seen many karaoke singers do this song in the same key as the original record and they hit the notes, and many of them aren't even first tenors. They are only 2nd tenors or baritones. So I know there are 1st tenors out there who can hit much higher notes.
I grew up listening 🎶 to this song 🎵 during the 60's and beyond and I'm still listening 🎶 to this song 🎵 on Friday 3rd of March 2023 here in Kiwiland
One of the very best songs EVER! I sure miss this kind of music.

This is one of my favorite songs if all time. He may not be able to hit all the high notes as before but is still a great singer

He did his final performance at age 78 and, sadly, his voice was no more.

Wow he still sounds exactly as he did in his 20s! To have a strong voice like that at any age is such a talent that not many are blessed with.
No, he does not. He did not stay in shape.
76 years old, WOW! say what you want, but to be able sing that song at 76 is something else.......

Elvis Presley shits on this guy lol
Chose not to be cremated; but was buried in a solemn ceremony. Why --- you guess??
He sure is thin here.
Ach so schlecht, schlechter Sound der alte Sänger sollte es lieber lassen!
Dead and died nearly broke.
