I was working at a cemetery when i was 18, 2yrs before I went in the service. I loved Jay and the Americans. I could sing the first part really good,a friend of mine who also worked there would holler for me to sing cara mia. Really brings back great memories, I'm now 79 and still love his music.
jay and the americans were class all the way...what voices...they all seemed like great guys . IM 77 NOW AND LISTENING TO THEM AND MANY FROM THOSE DAYS STILL GIVES ME GOOSE BUMPS.
Thanks for the memories Jay . Never got to see you ,only the Americans after you passed But at least we have these great videos and live you personality and patriotism
I had the pleasure of meeting him in Miami when he had a concert with Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine! A friend of mine that was the music set up man snoke us in to see him! This was probably early 80's! He was amazing! The memories will linger forever in our hearts!
I had the privilege of seeing Jay Black in person years ago. He did not perform, but entertained. What a show he put on. Always said if there was one act I could see again it would be Jay Black. You will always be missed.
There are very, very few male vocalist (classically inclined tenors or not) that share Mr. Black’s abilities to utilize all vocal registers, and seamlessly initiate vocal attack, sustain regular tonality within the individual vocal registers, replenish breath support without abrupt interruption of the outgoing airstream, …and most notably, slide up and down from that register to the one above it and below it (transition) without a noticeable pause in vocal production. In this illustration perhaps Brian Wilson is a contender.
Jay Black, I will always remember Jay and his music. Amazing music, amazing voice. A friend and I, it was maybe 1968, or 69, we went to a NY Coliseum fest where Jay and the Americans performed This Magic Moment, one of my all time favorite songs. The voice, amazing. This man is truly talented. That’s my fellow Queensite!
“The Voice”? Come on, is it true? Ok, I'm now 63 and have been a fan since my elementary school days. Goosebumps then, goosebumps now. I'm serious. Is it true? Was he “The Voice”? You’re damn right he was.
He died in what like 2021. And they were popular in the 50s & 60s I think because I grew up with classic rock & I don’t remember them, I only remember one song that they recorded in 1968. Come A Little Bit Closer.

Jay Black was one of a kind brilliant singer... RIP
One of a kind. Boy......what a voice. He had trained to sing opera, but was told his voice wasn't strong enough.
I'd say someone badly misjudged his voice. Found another analysis from an opera singer who thought he was tremendous.
Thanks for the memories Jay . Never got to see you ,only the Americans after you passed But at least we have these great videos and live you personality and patriotism
One of the Greatest Voices of the Rock & Roll Era. Tremendous entertainer. Tarrytown, New York will never

They had This Magic Moment, Cara Mia, She Cried, Some Enchanted Evening,, Walking In The Rain, Let's Lock The Door
I was into classic rock but love the music that also included this era!
In hindsight, given the chance, I would lock the door!
My junior prom
I took care of this guy rip
I love 'Jay Black' There's no other'! But you know, I see such a strong cross-between he, and my Wonderful President Donald J. Trump'!!!
I loved Jay Black. Don’t ruin his memory by comparing him to this country’s most evil and dishonest politician.
Huh? I love Trump as well but this is not place to plug our next Pres!
Trump in his best day could never hold a candle to Jay Black
How could you even compare J Black to the guy with 92 criminal charges Donald Dump
@@k.valleryTrump is not a singer. Please don’t compare.
