    Thanks for your great tips, Ms. May! They are brilliant! It is nice to hear that I already do some of your techniques. This will be my first year teaching, but I have 20 yrs experience working with students in grades Pre-k to 12th. I will continue to look for your advice on things. I appreciate it! I use the callback "class class" and they say "yes yes". Got it from you. Love it!!

    Ms. May, I also agree with the smiling vibe. My kidos definitely respond in a positive way whenever they see me smiling. That is pretty much all the time for me. They understand and know that whenever they are not feeling at their best, they just look for Mrs. Janet and I have always been able to cheer them up and make them smile also.

    Miss May could you please make a video on how to get along with co-workers. Reality is that we get over worked and if we are not getting time for planning then when do we have time for our co-workers/planning with them. I feel like the little time we have to bond. I share my ideas however, i either get shut down, judged, looked weird… idk how do you manage working with so many personalities and what do you do with confrontation, disagreements… etc. thank you so much! 🙏

    Miss. May, I so needed this today!!! I am hating how I sound in class right now. I want to turn it around. I have to bring back the 1 sec party dance. I started it during distance learning. I guess I did it so much that my husband goes around the house saying, "Oh Yeah!" lol But can I just say that this class is just socially immature. I am a second grade teacher. You know the drill. They had kinder online the whole year. hugs Danielle

    I find your video helpful. I like how you look for engaging ways to keep your students motivated and how you respect them with understanding first “They are children” we cannot expect them to stop being one. They only get to be a child once than an adult for the rest of their lives. And I think often times we forget that. But building rapport with them and eating with them during lunch time also makes them feel special and that we care to be present. Overall, you are an amazing educator.

    LOL cubed on the whole having lunch with students. I am one who really doesn’t like having lunch with students. One year, I worked with a teacher who was ADAMANT that I have lunch with students to help build relationships. She went to the principal to complain and anything else she could think of. It just cracked me up. So I experienced the other extreme of your lunch with students “hate mail.” 😅 Some people.

    We LOVE the Super Improver Wall in my classroom. This was my first year doing it. I will admit I was a former clip chart person. I still remember the first day of school this year and I told them we don't do that in here, I don't have time to move clips and keep up with colors. They lost their minds. They also love the taco notes!

    Oh my goodness Miss May! Thank you for this video! I am looking for something to help me during our lunch/rest period. More specifically the transition from lunch to rest time. I am working as a substitute teaching assistant in a PreK classroom and they have rest time. With the help of the lead teacher we have begun to model what lunch/sounds like. We even modeled what it shouldn't look/sound like. We will have the kiddos do it next. (Schedules have been moved a bit) It is the transition to rest that seems to be the most challenging. I am thinking about trying the super improver wall. I will have to let the lead teacher know! What do you think? Thank you for all you do!

    thanks for this video. I'll check all your videos now. I'm working in Asia and this is my first year. I have some classes and they've been out of the control. I have preschool and primary classes. I don't know their language and my students don't know English. Even teachers who help to me in the classroom they don't know neither. In here there is no positive classroom management. All the teachers just yell or punish them. I hate this kind of discipline methods all my life and I had trouble with my teachers when I was a student. So I'm very nice at the classroom. they love me a lot, I can see that but they doesn't see me as an authority. It's like they hold themselves up all day and explode in my class. I hope I can find a way otherwise I'll explode and scream middle of the school lol.

    • @OneFABTeacher
      @OneFABTeacher  Рік тому

      Wow, Asia! That's so cool. You can still be nice, but firm. Set those expectations high. Kids need love, firmness, respect and consistency! Please don't ever go to yelling at them. That will NOT help the situation. I have many videos on classroom management and building relationships with your students. Also, focus on being the BEST teacher YOU can be. I always tell myself, I want to be better than I was the year before. Not, I want to be like her or him. God chose you to be a teacher. Let that light shine! ((HUGS))

    Natural consequence for a kid making noises and/talking when giving whole class instructions??
    Is that, "ignore until instructions are finished", them go sit next to them... They obviously want attention?
    At what point is the disruption so bad that you need to do a referral so they leave the classroom?
