You’ve done more for the drum and music community than any hater in any comment section. I appreciate you and your content and the community you’ve helped build. I’m glad the haters’ nonsense doesn’t get you down.
Happy New year to everyone at Drumeo. Honestly,I know you would have been here rather covid hit or not,but for me personally and I'd like to think literally thousands of other who suddenly had to stay close to home. The lessons the content, the introduction to other drummers I may have never got to hear. Words can't express and wouldn't ever be enough to explain the positive impact you all contribute to the world of drumming.
Thank you, Mike. We feel so lucky to get to create these videos for you. This year showed us that your hobbies really do matter -- and we were humbled to be in a position to help you get through this difficult year. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and for being an ongoing supporter. Happy New Year!
I wish I had access to at least a fraction of what you teach when I started drumming fifty four years ago. Sixty miles round trip from my small town once a week for a lesson that wasn't even close to anything you do. You and others making drumming/Music education videos are a God send and anyone that can't appreciate it hasn't not got a clue!!! I am a life time career drummer and what you are doing is perfect. Thank you so much.
KDW, like you, I wish I had access to a fraction of what Jared teaches. I wish UA-cam was around back then. I don’t think the kids today realize what a huge resource Drumeo and the internet is. Or maybe they do.
@@jackholl57 The only really pro drummer I got to meet as a kid was Roy Burns from Rogers. He gave a clinic again sixty mile round trip from where I lived. My band teacher took a couple of us in and I was blown away. Shortly before he died I got to set down with him one on one and talk at Aquarian drum heads. What an amazing man with an amazing life. He invented the clinic. He also remembered the clinic I attended because I brought up that he mentioned he was extremely jet lagged having played the White House the night before and flew all the way to Seattle to put it on. At first I said the White House and he corrected me, the Lincoln Center. Now I go down to my basement studio and with a click of a button have access to some of the greatest drummers that have ever live along with mountains of information from them and about them. Before they were just a name on an album cover. i grew up in a small country town that might as well been Mars and the one thing that stands out to me is that all of the big smokin hot drummers lived in cites and had access to great mentors. Now I do and am loving it. Thank you internet!!!
@@kdw735 that’s a great story. The only exposure I had was high school band camp where the percussionist/drummers could pay extra for instruction from Marty Hurley. That was for a week. That was the first and only professional instruction I had. Later in college, I went to a clinic with Carmine Appice. At the end of the clinic they had a drawing for the snare drum he played. They drew my name. I was in a daze. I couldn’t believe it. He signed it and I had my picture made with him, but I never could get a copy of the picture. That was during the time that Carmine played with Rod Stewart. As a teenager and during my early twenties I went to a lot of rock concerts. If a top name act came to Mississippi, I saw them. If there were other concerts of different genre’s I didn’t know about them back then. So yeah, I think UA-cam is great.
Hii jared im watching and learning from your videos for more than 10 years youre doing a sacred job for the drummers community all over the world! F everybody who dont appriciate it, keep on being awesome and rock on!
Thank you! We're grateful to create these videos for you - but it's only because of your support that we get to do this. Happy New Year and here's to many more videos!
This is great thanks. One hears “linear grooves/fills “ tripping off he tongue of those who place themselves in high places in drummin. You’ve made it real, keep bringing it please
I remember when this guy was a just a kid "one trip-el-et" ..I learnt to play blues shuffle by watching his early vids..he's still doing it awesome. had a long break from drums and getting back into it..good to see the channel is still here..and gone from strength to strength
Thank you for your work! You do great lessons and you are modest, sometimes a rare commodity amongst drummers! If some bad people comment negatively on your work, don`t worry, it only shows you are right in what you are doing!
Quit hating on this guy. I’d like to see the people leaving snide comments bring FREE drum lessons with awesome drummers to the masses. Not to mention put their own drumming out there for inspection.
Wow! I love the acknowledged self analysis! I think this aspect is the key to improvement. If you can’t hear or dissect where you are sounding a bit off compared to your “minds eye” groove then there is no way to improve. Also being a little bit off the metronome is how a groove forms. Balance is so key and perhaps the best way is to balance is to move a little or sway with the groove. Like riding a bicycle - if you are moving in and out of balance then you can maintain average balance and stay relaxed rather than rigid. Jared is a Monster player! A drummer once told me that he learned to play faster by thinking of playing drums as a continuous circular motion - don’t focus on the notes - still struggling with it but I sense this is a key.
I don't know what to say man... you said you struggle with the grooves on level 8 and 9 (which are really not easy) but then you did that thing on level 10 which totally blew my mind and didn't complain even a tiny little bit. You're a machine!
#10 broke my brain! 😳 Thanks for leaving in your “mistakes”; makes me feel better about my own. As far as using a metronome, I think it’s good sometimes, but not always necessary on this channel. That said, once I’ve learned an exercise, I use a metronome to make sure I’m keeping solid time. Thanks for another great video!
I make music in a DAW and I was at a loss at how to program drums. Before I came to Drumeo I think I settled into a linear pattern with my canned drums without realizing it. This is the sound I want. Thanks!
Nice work Jared. As always I appreciate that you share stuff while your still working on it. If the haters are so good, maybe they can start their own drum channel. I've learned a ton from you since I found Drumeo. I'm glad to see you living the dream.
Dear mister Falkner. I struggle a lot to get a grip on many things drumming, and your videos are truly well appreciated by me. I got back to drumming a few years ago and drumeo's masterclass by Bruce Becker were a huge deal for me. While watching you mildly struggling (really, there are more exercices than what a drummer can practice every day) with the fourth level, I made to myself the mental note that I decided to submit to you there: for some figures that require good hand/feet coordination, sometimes it produces good results to shift your grip from thumb/Index and medius to thumb/ring finger and little finger, in a kind of hybrid sanford Moeller fashion. It might make your bounce more tight, and gives a better bang for your buck in power drumming too. But it does change your overall balance, especially on the upper body. Just my two cents, and cars and miles etc... Fantastic job anyways and best wishes to you and the drumeo team.
Hey Jared! I tried to do last one but almost get a cramp hahahahhhaha. But i here to say that I am from Brazil, I bought the Drumers toolbox book and I'm loving it, i learned so many things, a lot of the history of the styles. I love drumeo, you are one of the channels that most are influencing in the beggining of my drummer life. Ps: I started last year, and Happy New Year to all of you there!!!! You have a happy subscriber here in Rio
Try counting sixteenth note triplets like this: ONE-trip-let-AND-trip-let Two-trip-let-AND-trip-let etc. Since they are anchored on the down and up beats you can easily count from eights to sixteenths to sixteenth note triples with the "ONE... AND" staying consistent.
Jared, thank you for single handedly making drumming a huge part of my life. I started at a zero at the age of 40, and now after 2 years, I'm actually able to play songs and have FUN! Because of drumeo and all your hard work to help develop drummers, I have found so many new drum friends and found so much peace in myself. Thanks for the hard work and have loved all your videos! Keep putting out killer content! It's reaching the right people 🙏 Please continue to ignore the haters 👊👊
That's about the same way I play level 6 Around the Tom's as a fill and hi hat/ride beat. Love this video great work. And you showed me some new stuff, Always learn something! That last one is awesome, I'm practicing that for sure.
I watched the video, got to my drum kit and made it to level 7 @55-60 BPM quite easily on the first go. That level 10 groove at moderate tempo is one crazy beat, looks like a good lvl 10 to me! Thanks for the lesson :)
Most awesome beats a drummer can put to a band don't be a hater if you're learning all possibilities of how to apply all your musical knowledge. Well tought.

Happy new year and thanks for yet another fantastic video which I know will take my playing forward musically and inventively by leaps and bounds. David (London).

These videos are really inspiring to keep playing and improving! I'm personally sitting at a level 4-5 comfortable I think. About the click I don't think it harms the video to have it playing, and it might prove useful to people playing along with audio alone perhaps...
Lmao, when you said how good the drums sound, I was literally thinking the same thing. Literally, at the same time!!! I guess drummers do think alike!!!🤪🫡🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I really liked how your set was playing straight eighths with you on the eighth note groove. It might be interesting to hear some grooves with rests to contrast against the straight sixteenths or sextuplets. Might be cool to bring your sweep drumming friend back and do some linear stuff with sweep doubles or triples added. Anyhow, terrific lesson!
I'm a beginner drummer so I'm at level 1! I try to mix things, but when I do it sounds weird; I also need to work on my timing and metronomes don't help me at all. I just get confused. :/ I need to work on fillers a lot more as well, and this video is a good way to learn. So I saved it to my "Drum Lesson" playlist!
Actually, "1ti ta & ti ta" works great for me when playing half-time shuffle because I can count clearly even at 80 without the messy "1 trɪp lɪt & trɪp lɪt".
jared you’re an excellent and humble drummer and teacher. your egoless attitude towards the journey is inspiring 🙌
