Beautiful repair job, Trena! You even make hardware, wow! I'm sure there are a lot of memories in that shop, and it must be hard to say goodbye. Hope the next chapter will be just as memorable and even better for all of you!
May I offer my observation that the white plastic material used was either polyethylene or more likely nylon but not neoprene., which is rubber like. UHMW PE and Nylon are used for wear surfaces while neoprene (aka synthetic rubber) is commonly used for high heat and high pressure gaskets, like O-Rings. (Another product, while I'm at it, is polyurethane sheets, which we used to use to line grain chutes at the elevator due to its high abrasion resistance. Polyurethane material is also very elastic and is used to make polyurethane springs, which I have used in place of steel compression springs.
Yup…neoprene is used to make scuba suits. There are zillions of plastics, many with their own trade name like Delrin…. I’m here to watch the excellent wood refinishing!…not to nitpick…(sorry)
You had me at "I Made my own Hardware." It's not always easy, but I have to tell my customers sometimes that they may need to improvise. I love the pics of your father and the one with you and your father. My father is also John. I miss him every day, and I see him as a cardinal at my bird feeder laughing at me, and my brother, running his hardware store. And dealing with the chaos and joy that comes with this business. Thanks again for another wonderful video!
You made the piece sing Trena! Those little fiddly neoprene bits were masterfully carved. The set looks gorgeous. I'm looking forward to seeing your new shop. I hope that the final bits of the move-in and the set-up are as easy as possible. May you and your dad use the new shop in good health! Best, Angela
I love watching you work! Fact that you’re making these latex/plastic pieces is wonderful. They look exactly like the curtain hangers used here when the rail is inserted into a piece of wood or metal and run along that groove. They are as rare as hen’s teeth here now. I had to give up using them as there weren’t enough for the curtains I was hanging. I have moved now or I would have sent you my residual stash. You have done as usual, a very beautiful job. Thank you. Look forward to seeing you in your garage and eventually your new work shop . I hope your move goes well!
Ahh, if all the memories in that shop could be captured for posterity. The lovely work, a daughter in training, and a reunion in sorts at the end with a few more pieces done side-by-side. It doesn't get any better than that. I'll look forward to you in your new shop!
Yet another beautiful MCM restoration. Lovely poignent moment saying goodbye to your Dad's shop, but knowing that he's shared all his skills and knowledge with you about how to restore heirlooms for the next generations. There is something really wonderful in that. Eager to see the next shop, even if temporary, cause I recognize progress! Very cool to see Woodworkers of America sponsoring this video. Keep on growing!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful restoration. I swear a relative had a piece with similar hardware-I have a fuzzy memory of being scolded for playing with the doors. Your client should also be congratulated for seeing the beauty in their old set. Well worth it!
Please could you share the story with us of why you are moving to another shop twice? Or did you already and have I missed it 🫣. Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🇳🇱
As soon as I saw the piece, I was already anxious to see the completed project. Your reputation for excellence precedes you. This project was no different. The final result is stunning!
Your videos inspired me to have a tattered, old piece of living room furniture refurbished rather than replaced since we like it. I’m in the process of searching for a local shop to do the work. I hope I find someone that is at least half as good as you are. You are the best!
Is there no end to your talents Trena?! You did an awesome job on those neoprene bits and got that cabinet looking tip top agin 😍👏🤩 Good luck with the final bit of the move, looking forward to seeing the new shop!
Those cracks in the bottom of the case show the importance of taking things apart. The anti tarnish cloth for the silverware is such a nice touch in the top of this buffet! I took advantage of the offer, and was delighted to see i could send my brother a guest membership to enjoy it with me.
Trena, you deserve a manicure 🤣 You give so much to your work, remember to also give to yourself ❤. I am in no way shaming, but I can tell you like your nails ( as do I ) Love from Ireland.
The gliders look like small plastic things we used to hang the curtains in the metal “pole”. They were called Kirsch. Maybe they were made in the 50-60-ties like the sideboard?
Very nice Trena! My Dad had a milling machine and a metal lathe. Other than electrical components, we made about 60% of replacement parts for our projects. Very satisfying. Good luck in the new location and God bless your Dad.
I look forward to your videos, from the explanations, the talent paired with the perfect music. I hope you take us along on the build. And I hope to see more cameos of your dad!
I appreciated listening to explain how you think about restoring your pieces. Time just keeps moving on...sad to see the original shop close the doors, but the spirit and knowledge live on! Best wishes to you all!!!
Oh Trena, what a huge moment for you and your Dad! I know it's just "stuff", "bricks and mortar" ...but the space itself is imbued with a thousand memories for both of you. I hope you give the shop a 'farewell party' to thank it for it's services over the years, a final happy memory🥂. My strength to you Trena as you move through another big life event, more power to ya🤗💪
Again, not my favorite furniture style, but you made it too beautiful not to love the results.🥰 NICE rescue of the hardware!👏 Interior clean up looks great too. Can't wait to see the new shop.
My goodness Trena you even carved the neoprene runners?? And another move, you know I believe nothing is by chance, a new chapter starting with plenty of hope, and no matter what if family ties are neat and strong that what matters. Good luck and may the nee shop brings many joy and success and good videos for us 😂.
Your videos are always a joy to watch. I actually really like this type of furniture now, as a kid I didn't. It must be because I'm getting older and more sentimental. But I don't mind. 🙂
It looks very plain and simple, but its simplicity is what makes it so beautiful. I love it and, as usual, you have made a perfect job of revamping it xx
Fantastic repair as always Trine. I also think it's a fantastic piece of furniture. In my country, it is exclusively teak from the 60s that is popular. But I definitely think this piece of furniture also has something about it that should make it popular. Another move. I also think you’ll miss the place were you taught everything from your daddy 🥲
Thanks for demonstrating that it is possible to custom mill replacement parts. There is no way to order OEM parts. It takes time and ingenuity to make replacements. In the end it is the solution to the problem.
The sideboard is a magnificent complement to the table and chairs you refinished last video. What a wonderful furniture suite this is and I know it's your preferred style Trenna. Good wishes for your shop move..and we'll see you soon. 💖✨️👋
Bendiciones.
Sorry I missed this one when it came out, was in Hospital having a procedure never mind at least I'm fixed which was ordered important, lovely piece of furniture, so useful. You're an absolute genius, not only with how finish a piece of work but how you work out how to resolve issues as well. 👍
Hi Trena I just wanted to let you know that the material you made the new guides is Delrin and not neoprene. Neoprene is a man-made rubber. I really like what you do and I have learned a lot watching your videos.
This is a beautiful set, and you’ve done a beautiful job with the repairs. I loved the footage of your dad. Goodbyes are always hard, especially when it’s a place you’ve grown up in with a lot of memories.
Those neoprene glides were actually from the curtain industry.the upper one was for very lightweight curtains😢 and the Lower one was adapted to glide in a neoprene bottom track. While not common today, it can show the usefulness of 3D printing, as trying to find 60 year old hardware is almost impossible.
When you showed the underside of that cabinet, I thought those weird clips were some kind of prior attempt at a repair, and poorly done with the wrong materials. Are those truly original? I've never seen that type of fastener before! I have a love/hate relationship with Forstner bits! They are a great tool, but if they bite wrong and catch, boy can you do a number on your knuckles! NICE JOB crafting that glider piece!
Like the hand made guide pieces, excellent job, and the piece itself came out beautifully, nice work. It would be willing to bet your dad loved having his daughter back in the shop again, great memories for you both I would say. Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching and learning.
Awe, the last piece done in Dad’s shop. 😕 Two videos a saying goodbye to your workshops. Will dad be joining you at the new shop? Great job on the buffet, as always.
What an excellent job on the glide. I used to make drapes for a living and we used something that looked exactly like that called a drapery glide. No idea if they were the same size though. Love the work you do
Beautiful work! It’s amazing how a shop can have so many memories, my old shop served me well and gave me so much, thank you for reminding me of that ❤
Great job on the manufacture of the guides . most of today's society would have no clue as to making something like that. it's a lost art . Good on you ! Looking forward to the new shop! You were calling that neoprene , but that's like a rubber. I think you were working with nylon or delrin or something like that 😁

What a great channel. Sad to see your dads shop go but you will make your proud by your success and continuing his legacy.

Yes. Sorry for muxup. 😉
To be fair, this sounds like a polite correction and sharing of information, rather than a “gotcha”. Trena is a pro. I think she can handle it. ;)
You had me at "I Made my own Hardware." It's not always easy, but I have to tell my customers sometimes that they may need to improvise. Farewell to a place of fond memories, and wonderful industry and artistry!
❤️
Beautiful buffet and beautiful work. I love the story of learning from your father and carrying his name to your business. ❤
Thank you so much!

They do look like that 🤔
Bitter sweet. The last renovation in the shop that got you started. Best of luck the piece is beautiful.
Thanks 👍
Ahh, if all the memories in that shop could be captured for posterity. The lovely work, a daughter in training, and a reunion in sorts at the end with a few more pieces done side-by-side. It doesn't get any better than that. I'll look forward to you in your new shop!
Thankyou!
Nice job on the mid century furniture. You and Dad look spiffy in the new aprons.
I hope that the new shop brings you and your family joy and success.
Thank you!
Some challenging piece of furniture that was and what a wonderful result. So cool you were able to work with your dad as well.
Thank you so much!
ALWAYS FASCINATING WITH YOU, TRENA. ANOTHER GREAT TUTORIAL!!!
Thank you! Cheers!

Best of luck in your new endeavors, location and a very happy and healthy retirement to your Dad and Mom. Nick
Trena: just love it. What a fabulous set! Looking forward to seeing the new shop. Carol from California
I second that… best wishes for your new venture… Diane from Albi, France
Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful restoration. I swear a relative had a piece with similar hardware-I have a fuzzy memory of being scolded for playing with the doors. Your client should also be congratulated for seeing the beauty in their old set. Well worth it!
If the walls could talk...what an amazing story they would tell! I'm sure there are heartfelt emotions from you and your dad...
I am amazed at how you made those slide pieces! Genius! Superb restoration Trena. 🤗🇦🇺
Thank you! Cheers!
That one was really labour-intensive. The final effect is amazing.
Please could you share the story with us of why you are moving to another shop twice? Or did you already and have I missed it 🫣. Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🇳🇱
She's building a new shop on her acreage! I hope we get to see it soon :)
Touching tribute to the last project in the shop you started in.
Thank you for another beautiful renovation, I wish your father a happy retirement in good health! Sincerely! Niek.

Making your own hardware!! Genius!!
15:49 “I Spy” the old and well-used Goudy apron in the background of this shot! 😊
Easter egg!!!
Trena, you deserve a manicure 🤣 You give so much to your work, remember to also give to yourself ❤. I am in no way shaming, but I can tell you like your nails ( as do I ) Love from Ireland.
lol yes they are sad
Looking forward to seeing your new workshop!
A lovely set now you’ve worked your magic on it!
Many thanks!
The gliders look like small plastic things we used to hang the curtains in the metal “pole”. They were called Kirsch. Maybe they were made in the 50-60-ties like the sideboard?
Yes they do
Beautiful set back to life for another 50 To 70 years. Love your stories. You've inspired me, a painted piano stool awaits! Thanks so much.
Wonderful!
You just made my week, girl! Thank you!
😯WoW !😯
Next you'll be fabricating your own multi-articulating hinges too ! 😉
Epic Thumbs Up !
😇❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
It's such a treat to see the old toner finish peel off
Awesome daughter and wood worker.
Very nice Trena! My Dad had a milling machine and a metal lathe. Other than electrical components, we made about 60% of replacement parts for our projects. Very satisfying. Good luck in the new location and God bless your Dad.
Thankyou!
That’s so sleek and lovely now.
So now I think i understand why the MCM furniture & repairs represent a huge amount of time.
Thanks for sharing.
Amazing work yet again! Looking forward to seeing the new workshop.
I look forward to your videos, from the explanations, the talent paired with the perfect music. I hope you take us along on the build. And I hope to see more cameos of your dad!
Thank you very much!
Good luck with the move! This piece turned out beautifully!
The best name I could find for. Those metal clips is wood framers fasteners they work great on picture frames pulling the corners together
As per usual, you have the BEST music!
Glad you think so!
Wow, Trena! This is a gorgeous piece! You did an awesome job on this restoration and refinishing. WELL DONE!❤
Thank you! Cheers!

Beautiful work as always. I've been a subscriber to WGA for some time and the content is top notch. Great stuff. Props on the new sponsor.
Any place I spend a lot of time at becomes my place in time.
YOU ARE ONE OF ONLY THREE CHANNELS I WATCH . DONT LIKE BACKGROUND MUSIC COMPARED TO VERBALLY EXPLAINING WHAT YOUR DOING . LOVE YOUR STUFF
Good luck to you and family with your move. Cheers!
Thank you and your father for your preservation of beauty.
Absolutely gorgeous. Loved this!! Excited to see the new space you are moving to. Blessings and best of all good things to come!!

You're very welcome!

Thankyou so much. This is a lovely comment ❤️❤️
I always enjoy your videos and I really like the music you select to accompany the work.... very relaxing.
Thank you very much!

Rest up!
Hi Trena
I just wanted to let you know that the material you made the new guides is Delrin and not neoprene. Neoprene is a man-made rubber. I really like what you do and I have learned a lot watching your videos.
Thanks for the info!
That is amazing job making the hardware and so beautiful finish stay safe out there and God Bless your family
Thanks, you too!
neoprene is a rubber typically black. used for o rings and wet suits. A hard wearing plastic tends to be nylon or HDPE.
Yes sorry wrong word
This is a beautiful set, and you’ve done a beautiful job with the repairs. I loved the footage of your dad.
Goodbyes are always hard, especially when it’s a place you’ve grown up in with a lot of memories.
Thank you very much!
Great work! BTW the material is Nylon rather than Neopreen. Neopreen is a foam rubber used in waders and spark plug socket wrenches.
Yes wrong word sorry
Perfection as always!!
Beautiful refurb. Moving is sad, but new beginnings are always worth it!!
So true!
You are so knowledgeable l love your work 😊
Great work. As usual.
Those neoprene glides were actually from the curtain industry.the upper one was for very lightweight curtains😢 and the
Lower one was adapted to glide in a neoprene bottom track. While not common today, it can show the usefulness of 3D printing, as trying to find 60 year old hardware is almost impossible.
Yes I have realized that from comments. Not sure if they are the same size but definitley the same shape. You can actually order them off Amazon. 🙃
Thank you for another excellent video!
Another great job!
So beautiful what a great transformation!
Thank you so much!
You made this dining room set absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you!! 😊
That came out stunning! Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous!
Yes they are original. But understand the confusion. It was the factories way of skipping the clamps. 😉
Like the hand made guide pieces, excellent job, and the piece itself came out beautifully, nice work. It would be willing to bet your dad loved having his daughter back in the shop again, great memories for you both I would say. Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching and learning.
Thank you very much!
Don't tell anyone - but your work and experience is amazing.
🥰😉
Awe, the last piece done in Dad’s shop. 😕 Two videos a saying goodbye to your workshops. Will dad be joining you at the new shop?
Great job on the buffet, as always.
He will be kicking around I’m sure
What an excellent job on the glide. I used to make drapes for a living and we used something that looked exactly like that called a drapery glide. No idea if they were the same size though. Love the work you do
Very cool!
Beautiful work! It’s amazing how a shop can have so many memories, my old shop served me well and gave me so much, thank you for reminding me of that ❤
Wonderful!
Your work looks like it just came off the factory floor. Amazing craftswomanship. 😮
Thanks 👍
Great job on the manufacture of the guides . most of today's society would have no clue as to making something like that. it's a lost art . Good on you !
Looking forward to the new shop! You were calling that neoprene , but that's like a rubber. I think you were working with nylon or delrin or something like that 😁
Yes. Sorry for the mixup 😉
That was really a great job. And it shows❤❤❤❤❤❤
That material on the slides is delrin or nylon, neoprene is an uncured rubber.
Yep wrong word
