I highly recommend watching "Mikeburnfire" they have a long series of playing New Vegas together. They're both come from militaristic backgrounds, Zach being in the army and Mike being in the marines. They are incredibly funny and they even have compilations of Zach's gun rants (basically where he explains all his knowledge on the current gun he is holding)

Your talk about the conscript army is kinda well timed. At the final battle of Hoover dam in Fallout New Vegas, you can convince the legion commander to withdraw. Telling him that he’d need the entirety of the East to conquer the NCR, making him have to re-plan his attack.
Fun fact about the Colt .45 its just old school enough that if you had to you could reload the casings with homemade black powder without any sort of accuracy reduction you cant do this with any other modern firearm that I'm aware of...

Napoleon once said "You cannot stop me, I spend 30,000 men a month." And really, he was right. He was defeated by the sheer size of Russia and their scorched earth policy, not by the actual Russian troops themselves.
Fallout power armors' power source is, as one would expect from a nuclear apocalypse universe, a fusion core (nuclear battery). They use those to power some laser weapons as well.
So they have any sort of air conditioning though? I've played a decent amount of fallout 4 and new vegas, but they never mention a suit having internal cooling.
@@Justacheese Fallout 76 has a shit-ton of possible upgrades for power armor, and one of them is "Cooling Vents" which gets you reduced fusion core drain rate for every piece you install Cooling Vents into.
@@Justacheese I think its never been stated if they do, but its probably safe to asume they do. The Remnants power armor has a massive fan on the back tho.

that giant maul is in fact a power sledge, and essentially fires a pneumatic charge on impact, firing the captive head of the hammer forward like a boltgun used to cull livestock.
re: the Tacticool community, you forgot that they have a $70k pickup while their family lives in a house that has the same number of wheels but cost less because 'once their back is better they're totally going to get back to doing light construction and NEED it for hauling their entire two toolboxes and some drywall'

I think you should watch Mikeburnfire's vids. Him and Zach are marine and army veterans respectively. They play a lot of fallout and Zach loves talking about guns and the crap he had to go through in Iraq and Fort Polk.

8:00 the 1911 was designed by Browning and is the iconic .45ACP pistol. The Browning Hi-Power (which also features heavily in New Vegas as the 9mm pistol) was a bit different, a double stack 9mm, still single action but internally much more similar to modern pistols than the 1911 (barrel link replaced by a cam surface, fixed non removable barrel bushing, much simpler firing mechanism and so on). And while the 1911 was initially a Colt product made at the behest of the US Army the Hi-Power was developed for FN in the 30s and sold to a number of militaries (Also involuntarily requisitioned by some of Belgium's uninvited guests.)

True story from the very first play through of fallout 3.
So I had just leveled to the point I could choose Mysterious Stranger. I was having some bad luck with RNGesus a decided a random helper could be helpful. So not two minutes later I’m in a firefight in some warehouse and I get my very first Mysterious Stranger appearance.
He spawns behind me in a hallway and shoots me in the back. Bodies me in one shot. Reload, same hallway slightly different timing he appears again, digs me a grave and pushes me in.
Repeat ten times in various rooms and hallways of this building. Even when in a wide open charge loading bay type room. Every single time he pops up he puts a round in me.
Reloaded an old save and never picked that perk again. Not in New Vegas, not in Four. Hell when I went back to play the older games I avoided it like the plague.
At 19:00 when you mentioned a drinking mechanism for gas masks and I saw the power armor helmet with the vault 13 canteen, all I could see in my head was dark helmet from space balls drinking his espresso
In New Vegas, Enclave Power Armor at least "looks' like it has an AC unit built in, and considering the T-51's were built for Alaska in hard winter, me thinks the thermostat goes both ways.... Keeping you "chilled" is probably a side effect of the cooling systems of the literal Fusion generator you have strapped to your back.
You should watch mikeburnfire’s campfire stories or military stories. It is two other veterans/soldiers telling stories or talking about their experience in the military while playing fallout games, usually new Vegas.

The .45 Pistol character, Joshua Graham is Mormon - apart from his Bible references, the 'New Canaan' he's found with the tribals, he has a cool line of dialogue about different tribes having different weapons and how 'one of my tribe made this, centuries ago' - the Browning M1911. Still say that The Survivalist is the best character in the game, even though we never met him, the journals left behind tell a story worthy of a game itself.

I'm the exact opposite I like retro tactical gear so all my stuff is from the 80's and before and I mainly use surplus but I got a shit ton of training...

The high-power was basically a m1911 in 9mm ,also some people in the u.s military still use 45.acp such as Sf using sigs I think , some officers still have m1911s I believe (I could be wrong most of my information is from 2003-2010

I kinda chuckled at your rant about the guys you call tacticool(I call 'em army cosplayers) and I have to agree, they are not the least bit imposing with all their overpriced gear, guns and doodads, boasting about[insert popular group the far right villainizes here] better not come on my property. Show me the guy who has a gun that they bought at a decent price and doesn't need to post a buncha pics of themselves boasting about what badasses they are, that's the guy who is really dangerous with their weapon.
On an unrelated note: a few years ago a local pawnshop was selling a 9mm I wanted, it was hot pink. I woulda posed for hella pictures with my hot pink pistol. But unfortunately they were wanting more for it than what the gun was worth.

Power armor is nuclear powered but I believe in lore the early T-45s made where battery powered but quickly made to have nuclear power cells in production. T-45 itself was a stop gap and made within a month to stop the Chinese offense in Alaska. It's the first model.
T-51 is one of the most advanced suits out there even beating enclave power armor models in protection and mobility. Alaska's liberation was won by that model.

Lemme get this straight: In one statement, you say that here in 2021, you can get away with being crass instead of using PC official-speak, but now in this very tongue-and-cheek fictional game, you can't do same? Can't get away with it? Yeah, I know this is a callback to Mel Brooks stating he couldn't possibly make Blazing Saddles in this age, but come on. To my mind, being as crass as you want - all that bunk that really got out of hand started around 2016 and should be scaling back now - is most-definitely wrong. It's too extreme. There are so many things that have the all-or-nothing mentality that probably need to go. However, an alternate universe depicting a world that's gone to nuclear hell as part of a rather tongue-in-cheek sci-fi series has some leeway.

U.s. Soldiers who only end up going just third world countries really have no idea how much more advanced their gear even is compared to the rest of the world even Russia and China's Soldier gear is subpar compared to the u.s.

I don't know why but in video games I hate 45mm ... they are slow, they are "heavy", every time you fire a shot before firing a second shot it takes a century and a half. I prefer the 10mm up, for example Fallout 4, which can be modified into automatic weapons, and then shoot in bursts, while the 45mm, remains a single shot weapon ... I in video games much prefer automatic weapons!
it is NOT 45mm, those would be ENORMOUS bullets. Also the basic combat rifle in fallout 4 is .45 and it can be automatic and the smg (which is ALWAYS automatic and can't be single shot) is also .45, not sure what you're talking about.

@@gamesandglory1648 I was wrong to write millimeters instead of caliber. For the .45, however, I was referring to the pipe revolver, it is practically one of the first weapons you find among the various raiders you beat. I think I have tried it once and thrown in some container or destroyed to get the pieces. The SMGs, I know they are fast, also basically they start as automatic, so they are by nature faster than a revolver or a 10mm, not automatic. As for me, I prefer automatic weapons, with the "Commando" perk. I love to shoot in bursts ... xD at least if I do not take the precise aim I send some shots to sign! 😂

Jsyk fallout is Bethesda, not valve. And new Vegas is barely Bethesda which is why it's actually good. Obsidian is responsible for New Vegas, and recently The Outer Worlds.
