In the lore, master chief is constantly dealing with what you described. He also has serious issues connecting with anyone outside of his team he grew up with.
His conversations with people generally consisted of a few words, which of course caused people to look at him strangely. That being said it was mostly officers that treated him badly because all enlisted guys loved him, he was a sort of superhero for the enlisted.

Nerd moment. But in the books for Halo, they mention there was a study on the Spartan 2's mental state after the war. They found that they had basically all developed a laundry list of mental disorders and if they weren't Spartans the military would have medsepped them long ago.

Halo Reach levels and character deaths represent the stages of grief you go into it knowing you are going to lose but the question is by how much? Its also a prequel to the Halo game franchise.

a lot of Spartan 2's were prone to mental instabilities as they were effectively child soldiers taken at a young age and subjected to torturous physical training mental reconditioning and genetic modifications sound familiar 😒

@@mateorios1636 I don't remember Linda, Kelly, or Fred being particularly unstable, outside of the 'zero social skills and emotional disconnect' that hits pretty much EVERY S-2 or S-3 that isn't totally insane or removed off the combat roster due to injuries.
I think the most 'unstable' thing they did that are out of the usual 'no value on their own life' bred into the spartans was going AWOL with MC.
Then again, I suppose 343 could have snuck something into the books that I didn't read.

Being an S-II doesn't matter. Jorge is an outlier for Spartans across the board.

Funny how Halo Reach used to be viewed as a bad game... but then 343 made Halo 4 and 5. Now, it doesn't seem quite as bad. For me, I like artstyle for Halo Reach the most. Armor, even when brightly colored, isn't horribly bright and it doesn't hurt to look at the environments, even when they are brightly lit. Halo 4 on the other hand just hurts my eyes and looks ugly to me.
@@Techhunter_Talon I’ve always loved reach for it’s art style. It’s modular and gritty design is great and personally it’s my favorite of all the halo games. It’s for that same reason I really don’t like the angular design of many of the armors and helmets in halo 4 & 5.

10:20 how halo cutscenes work is that the scene are not only in engine, but are filmed in the actual map. Russian badger died before the cutscenes laoded and his dead body was in the cutscene because of it.
3:58 the community is going strong because of the Master Chief Collection on Steam. After that dropped a few years back with just 1-2 of the Halo games, it's been getting updated with all of the Halo games, giving PC players basically their first ability to play outside of Halo 2 for Windows a decade ago. Since Halo 3 and Halo Reach are some of the strongest games in that collection, Halo Reach, on PC with the MCC, is thriving.

Halo reach is an amazing game in my opinion! the campaign manages to keep things relatively fresh at all times! The multiplayer had such good custom games for its time that its still the go-to halo game fore custom multiplayer games.

Being in the military doesn't mean you believe violence is the answer to everything. Some people join the military because they have nowhere else to go. Some join because they lack a sense of purpose and are looking for one. Not all military jobs are frontline combat either. Tank, aircraft and heavy machinery mechanics, data analysts, communications, IT Technicians, you name it. Plenty of jobs in the military that don't require entering combat.

UGR-A refers to the Unitized Group Ration A. It's a ration that feeds like 50 soldiers. It includes "fresh" ingredients and so it needs refrigeration equipment. You also have UGR-B which is the same thing. But it's made entirely of semi perishable food. So no fridge required.

and Spartan III, the first few groups were selected for most of the same criteria as Spartan iis, but with the added part of aggression and psychotic tendencies, the last two "classes" of Spartan iiis were selectivity lobotomized to be more aggressive and animalistic to the point of actively needing anti psychotics to function.

You’re not wrong about the ptsd thing most spartans were made very harshly, with the Spartan 2’s mainly consisting of kidnapped children groomed and experimented into being basically the best earth had to offer. Then the 3’s were primarily made up of war orphans and made with better tactics and larger numbers but inferior armor compared to 2’s so anyone who wore it was basically in a suicide mission with many 3’s dying over the war.
