Batman Vengeance was the Arkham Knight of it's time. It had access to all of the gadgets, some detective stuff, large playing fields. It was really good for it's time. Of course, the Arkham Games definitely surpass it by quite a long way but it's still good.
9:40. I still think that they should have added a cheat code that unlocks "Camp Mode" to the Arkham games, where "Boosh" and the like pop up when you hit a mook.
+Ultimate Burst Ekin (Snare) Yeah, the only thing about it is that it's kinda linear compared to the other games, but that can easily be an advantage to many.
Ultimate Burst Ekin Yeah, I feel that the really good looking 7th generation games will probably never be looked at like an N64 or NES game is now in terms of graphics. It was probably be because the 6th-7th generation finally reached that threshold of realism to where they can age gracefully just as long as effort is being properly allocated. It's kinda like how I can look at Metal Gear Solid 2-4 and still think they look good even after looking at MGV.
Good news. The Joker challenge maps will be available to Xbox One and PS4 players in Batman Arkham Asylum remastered, included in Batman Return to Arkham.
Nothing was more satisfying then completing all of the Riddler challenges. It seems like a big challenge and it is, but when you do do it. You feel really triumphant. :)
This is what i love about SomeCallMeJohnny, he's giving us full fleshed reviews like twice a month, wich is, for a reviewer, fantastic. THUMBS UP FOR JOHHNY :D
I'm going through another Johnny marathon and I gotta say, how is it possible that the dude looks so much older 10 years ago than he does now? Like, he looks younger now for some reason. Maybe it's just me.
you forgot to cover the second encounter with scarecrow where it covers gamers' 2 biggest fears : Game Crashing and QTE Failing. And the fight with Steroid (Titan) Joker
Maybe he didn't cover those parts because he didn't want to spoil them, I know the game was 2 years old at this point but if I didn't already know about them and decided to play the game after watching this review those certainly would've been interesting to experience on my own. (He also did address the final boss at 8:17 just not saying specifically what it was.)
I finally played this game and beat it about 20 minutes ago. Great game. It really does make you feel like batman with some parts requiring you take some time and try to find where to go. The action is excellent, but the boss fights aren't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Even if you're not a batman fan, play this game. You can get it for so cheap, and it is totally worth it.
I have the Game of the Year Edition for my PS3. It is hands down the absolute best super hero game I've ever played and one of the best in general. I love the visual style and design of the characters, the voice acting is near perfect, and the gameplay is varied and well implemented with the controls. I also think 3D looks great it added extra intensity and depth. The Scarecrow and Killer Croc levels kept me on edge. The only problem I had were the boss fights, especially the final boss. 9.5/10
5:38 to 5:42 " Now if only there was some way to combine batarangs with explosive jell." In the comics and animated TV shows and movies batman has a variety of different batarangs and one of them is the explosive batarangs :) I wish they added that to the Arkham games.
Johnny, I think you might be pleased to know that there's an item called the explosive batarang in Arkham Origins. That's the closest to explosive gel + batarang that the series has gotten so far.
i so far had 2 or 3 boss fights as i am playing through this for the first time and also arkham city, boss fights are rather the most interesting factors here for me, very fun and innovative
@justinpnetwork If you're referring to the sound clip of Joker taunting Batman, I think that was from a movie, though I don't know which one. I've heard it's probably from either Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back or Dogma, but I've never seen them so I can't say.
This is the game that got me into gaming. Like beforehand I played games, but they weren't my main hobby. I was a little kid who played Lego games amd shitty licensed games on the wii and DS, but that was about it. Fast forward to middle school and a friend lets me borrow his PS3 with arkham asylum and uncharted 2 on it. I couldn't got lost in uncharted (I knew nothing about video games okay) so I started playing this game instead because I loved batman the animated series. This game blew me away. It was everything that I loved about Batman: The Animated Series but with a new, gritty look and in video game form that really (as cliche of a statement that this is) made me feel like Batman! I still sucked at games so I had to really put in effort to get good at the game and beat it but when I did I... Wanted to feel satisfied but couldn't because of that fucking dumbass final boss but I can overlook that ending for how great the rest of it was. This was the game that really opened me up to gaming and gave me what is today my main hobby and a field that I have considered working in. I will never forget this game and the times that I had playing it, it's truly a classic that has aged like fine wine.
Actually, this game has been the catalyst for me becoming a fan of the Dark Knight recently! I always liked him, but never got more than surface deep interest. Until recently!
Riddler: Are you cheating? looking them up on the Internet? Johnny: No, Shut up! (Looks back to the computer) Me: I saw that, now I'm telling Riddler. XD
Now i'm hoping that Johnny does a revisit of Arkham Asylum and City through the Return to Arkham collection on PS4 and Xbox One, while also stating his opinions on the remasters compared to the original versions.
Cool! Just one question about future reviews. Are you planning to do Portal 2? I'd like to see your opinion on the story, co-op, and most of all, the incredible, witty, and hilariously British Stephen Merchant voicing my most favourite Portal character, Wheatley. :D
I got the PS3 version of this game for Christmas a few years ago, and it helped me start to enjoy the Batman universe. I still like this game and Arkham Origins but I like Arkham City the most and I have them all on the PS3. Oh, I don't have Arkham Knight yet but I'll get the Xbox One version since I have that console instead of the PS4.
trivia: even in the italian version they got pretty much every voice actor directly from the 90s animated series
How did they learn italian.....
Andrea Pitre I think he was talking about the Italian voice actors for the show. Not the English ones.
No joke, your comment alone made me want to do a whole play through of the game with the Italian dub.
@@thatonecomicbookguy well batman is dubbed by the italian bardak... you know goku's dad... cold af
Riddler: "Are you looking it up on the Internet?"
Johnny: "No, shut up. (looks up the riddles on the Internet)
LOL!
ajrm6200 Arkham knight was garbage XD.
ajrm6200 I totally did that. The fourth wall breaking was brilliant, especially before the first Scarecrow encounter!
tfw you give someone the idea to cheat by accusing them of cheating.
Batman Vengeance was the Arkham Knight of it's time. It had access to all of the gadgets, some detective stuff, large playing fields. It was really good for it's time. Of course, the Arkham Games definitely surpass it by quite a long way but it's still good.
+MrWill It would be interesting if he wound up covering that in his second donators marathon.
9:40. I still think that they should have added a cheat code that unlocks "Camp Mode" to the Arkham games, where "Boosh" and the like pop up when you hit a mook.
Especially considering Arkham Origins and (I think) Arkham Knight had the 60s suit as an optional skin.
Especially queef
He said "Batman" 57 times! Trust me I counted.
Congrats! umm...Spider Man, I mean NOT Spider Man. Yeah, that's it.
I am someone you don't know
You seem familiar...
Ja grajem gry lego batmana xbox3600 pastysgoiusa😦💤💩🖕🏿☝🏿️
I am in a building!!!
Consider it as a drinking game.
If you get bored just count how many times he says batman.
Radionic's Official Channel I counted 54
This game aged greatly
+Ultimate Burst Ekin (Snare) Yeah, the only thing about it is that it's kinda linear compared to the other games, but that can easily be an advantage to many.
Yep.....Even when Arkham Knight came out this game still looks good.
IKR....I bet 18+ years latter....people will still think this game looks gorgeous.
Ultimate Burst Ekin Yeah how we look at something like Metroid Prime or RE4
4:22 batman's going super saiyan!
Damian Koolray super bat
Of course.... because he's batman...
It's not only Metroid like in structure. Detective mode is extremely similar to the scan visor in Metroid Prime
+lasseplatburk and don't forget the atmospheric music and themed areas
Um guys batman has been around since he 30s what are you guys talking about?
But did he have Detective Mode then?
the best of the best
this game wasn't around since the 30's
It took you 7 years to get 100 likes
I’m the 100th
How’s your life going man?
Good news.
The Joker challenge maps will be available to Xbox One and PS4 players in Batman Arkham Asylum remastered, included in Batman Return to Arkham.
Then it got delayed with no new release date
WB seems to be having indifference to Batman as of late
Michael Biland f u spoiler!
Michael Biland #batmanbeyond
MasterStryfe WEEK WEEK WEAK
Just finished recording this for my commentary group, and even after 5 years of sequels that expanded upon it, it still holds up beautifully.
I feel like he says the word “Mooks” more than he does “Batman” lol
Haha died at 7:38
I didn’t know people said “died” 6 years ago😳
Just got this on steam summer sale for 4.99. The game and story suits Batman perfectly I think I might pick up arkham city before the sale ends
Please do
TheSonicfan91 I did
I got it for free (both Asylum and City) for free on PS plus on ps3
Nothing was more satisfying then completing all of the Riddler challenges. It seems like a big challenge and it is, but when you do do it. You feel really triumphant. :)
I wish Detective Mode made toast.
RIP Kevin Conroy a terrific voice for the Dark Knight.
Take a shot everytime you hear Batman.
LighterSundew0 He said Batman 57 times.
ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!
Does anyone else now want a Batman game marathon?
Yes
This is what i love about SomeCallMeJohnny, he's giving us full fleshed reviews like twice a month, wich is, for a reviewer, fantastic.
THUMBS UP FOR JOHHNY :D
RIP Dark Knight, AKA Kevin Conroy.
5 years since I played this the 1st time and it's still a classic. I'm hoping Arkham Knight will be a great send off to this franchise.
Clicked on the video, didn’t remember that this was from the pornstache johnny era
Such a nostalgic era i find myself accidentally rewatching all his videos a few times a year
Awesome review, as always. Makes me glad I managed to stumble across you and Brainscratch. You guys rock.
My favorite part was the stealth levels.
***** Doing all of these moves in Arkham Asylum was more satisfying then in city since you're in a dark environment.
How about the part that the gargoyles where rigged to explode
How long did it take you
It took me a lot of tries to do the explodey gargoyle levels but I got the hang of it .
I knocked out 3 goons but I forgot about the collar so I went yolo :D
10 min for me btw
The Iron Fist On that level I stood on the glass platform and spray explosive gels there and after that I took them out with ease.
7:39
John W No, shut up!
+Spidey View (All New All Different) I see your search history...
seriously, clear that
Thomas Ink Wait does he really say that?
Spidey View No, but it would have been fucking hilarious
Thomas Ink XD
This game is 3 years old dang
its was actually released in August 2009 not 2011
More like almost five. :)
i can feel my back hurting im so old ahhhhhhhh
Wrd
whats weird
I'm going through another Johnny marathon and I gotta say, how is it possible that the dude looks so much older 10 years ago than he does now? Like, he looks younger now for some reason. Maybe it's just me.
I was thinking the same
I come from the future. I assure you that Johnny was right on the money: Dualshock 4 looks exactly like cryptographic sequencer.
The gag scene with the bat-jet made me laugh so hard. 5:15
I actually found the atmosphere in this game to be quite scary, walking along an empty asylum corridor with that moody music playing.
7:40 "No, shut up." - SomecallmeJohnny.
you forgot to cover the second encounter with scarecrow where it covers gamers' 2 biggest fears : Game Crashing and QTE Failing. And the fight with Steroid (Titan) Joker

Thank you for that new Tactic Explosive Gel on an knocked out body... genius.
Really? Using "Queef" during that '60s Tune? Really, Jonny? xD
Loved the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back reference at the end. Comic genious man.
4:24 it's not a bitch slap, it's a bat slap.
I found all the other Riddler secrets except for 3 bloody chattering teeth. I've searched everywhere and I can't find them. It is so infuriating.
The ones in the mansion, I presume? Everyone has trouble finding those. They were the last 3 teeth I found.
Damian Sabre I'll give it another look. Happy new year btw!
***** Cheers. Here's a hint: Look up.

how about Batman Arkham Asylum HD Edition on PS4 and Xbox One
I REALLY hope that Rocksteady brings back the Ultra Batclaw. That was TONS of fun!
Johnny, I think you might be pleased to know that there's an item called the explosive batarang in Arkham Origins. That's the closest to explosive gel + batarang that the series has gotten so far.
1:10
Hey! The Great Clement called, he wants his catchphrase back!
"He has to buy upgrades from a company that he owns?" xD
@Sykorax
Is this where I punch you, or you shoot me?
2:33 his cape just went through his head
In the beginning of the video, I see your Castlevania OoE poster in the background. Will you ever review the handheld castlevania games?
As soon as you brought up the 1960's Batman theme, I couldn't help but think about the BrainScratchComms Let's Play.
i'm always happy to see a new video from you amazing video
All these Batman, Castlevania, Metroid, Resident Evil reviews...I like yer style, dude.
this is one of my top 5 games and i find myself playing it two to three time a year, and i can't wait for the next game.
To be honest, I only used the internet guides for the Riddles on the last three I had to do, because I was so close to completing the game.
Ghost Boy yeah me too
i so far had 2 or 3 boss fights as i am playing through this for the first time and also arkham city, boss fights are rather the most interesting factors here for me, very fun and innovative
4:46 He's using Link's hookshot from OOT
Correction Batman have it before Legend of Zelda 1 created
+denny kurniawan oh
Wait, what kind of prisoners?
i loved that jay and silent bob strikes back clip at the end
can some one please tell me who that is a photo of at 10:18?
Where the hell does he fit that thing in his Utility Belt? XD
Don't want to know (In his ass)
9:13 cape goes through the guy
So Johny, about your upcoming DBZ Budokai videos. Is this going to be a month thing or just like Metroid Prime where they are done when they are done?
4:19 Most Epic Bitchslap
Adam West - he played Batman in 60's TV series, and he was even guest voice actor in one of "Batman The Animated series" episodes.
I'm somewhat new to gaming...I had a hard time getting used to the over the shoulder perspective.
Thank you for speaking clean this was the first.
John needs to re review these games.
He needs to give us that round 2 on Batman Arkham Knight 😒 he kept teasing it multiple times
I need to go back to Asylum some time.
Every now and then ^^
return to arkham was the perfect excuse to return to these games
Great review Johnny! I love how the Joker moves XD
6:46 have you seen the cake at the end of Arkham City 😂
Hey johnny, what number is that batman issue you show at 00:30, if you know thank you .
They are easily one of the best action games of all time indeed, its up there with Uncharted and even sonic.
@justinpnetwork
If you're referring to the sound clip of Joker taunting Batman, I think that was from a movie, though I don't know which one. I've heard it's probably from either Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back or Dogma, but I've never seen them so I can't say.
what is the name of the music track tht plays at the beginning of the review? im looking 4 it
4:17 HAHAHAHAHA RIGHT? Anyway, great review. I really enjoyed the video!
This is the game that got me into gaming. Like beforehand I played games, but they weren't my main hobby. Luke Skywalker...........has joined the Dark side of the Force...................
BTW LOVE the 60's theme!
i always thought of him as peter parker but we'll see. i think i see him as ultimate mister fantastic.
oh my god, a person that can respect opinions! you have my respect fellow gamer
Did you grt thst "but I digress" from Clement Johnny? lol
RIP to both Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin beloved Batman and Harley Quinn
1:10
Clement wants his infamous "But I digress" catchphrase back!
Lol I like how he snuck in "conveniently placed gargoyles" haha Johny is hilarious.
Plan on replaying this game soon :)
After a brief hiatus, my SomecallmeJohnny marathon resumes. 44 ✔️
Bosses may be repetitive but they're still pretty difficult in my opinion.
Actually, this game has been the catalyst for me becoming a fan of the Dark Knight recently! I always liked him, but never got more than surface deep interest. Until recently!

"This one looks like Batman is about to give you this most epic bitch slap of your life"
LMFAO
Are you gonna do a sonic generations review?
I got the game of the year edition of this game for the PS3, but every time I try to download the joker challenge maps it doesn't show up
Cool! Just one question about future reviews. Are you planning to do Portal 2? I'd like to see your opinion on the story, co-op, and most of all, the incredible, witty, and hilariously British Stephen Merchant voicing my most favourite Portal character, Wheatley. :D
when he says blackgate it sounds like black gay prisoners
lmfao he's not saying black gay prisoners? sounds like it to me.... it fit's the story.
_Black gay prisoners._
I can't unhear that now.
The sixties batman theme made my day.
I got the PS3 version of this game for Christmas a few years ago, and it helped me start to enjoy the Batman universe. At the end of the video where did that sound clip come from?
CaptainViewtiful98 .,
I have the GOTY edition on 360 and it still doesnt have the joker challenge maps
i love at 9:49 a guy gets punched in the face so QUEEF!
I can't get the joker challenges to work. I have re-downloaded it from different states and still no results?
