    If the microphone sounds weird, it's because you have now idea how WINDY it was XD We saved the audio in post-production. Thanks for understanding :)

    This is a good product but everyone should be aware that mounting your phone on your bike like this will damage your optical image stabilization (OIS) of your phones camera(s) over time. This is because of all the vibrations the phone will experience that it isn't designed for. I experienced this with my phone camera and subsequently bought a Karoo 2 so as not to further damage my phone cameras.

      This is the biggest issue that NO ONE likes to talk about.. UNTIL your phone is damaged by using quad lock like mine was. I wish people reviewing these kinds of products would do a little more research before throwing support out for something that can potentially do more harm than good.

      Thanks for sharing Natha, I was not aware of this issue. I'll be in touch with my Quad Lock contact and see what is up with this. Maybe I could even do in-depth testing on that.

      Do you have experience with the time it takes for such a damage? Ima bit worried now, but if this is something that only occurs after 2 years or so, i could live wirh it

      Use the vibration dampener

    • @mfe888
      @mfe888 2 місяці тому +1

      This is only an issue when using the phone on a motorcycle, due to the micro vibrations of the engine, hence why quadlock sells a vibration dampener for the motorcycle mount. This will likely never happen to the OIS of a phone when mounted on a bike. I have done some gravel and even mountain biking with my phone mounted on the stem and have not had any issues.

    Hey Charles thanks for sharing your experience. I have been using quad lock for 8 years and love it. To record all your data on your phone (no need for 2 devices), try Cyclemeter. It connects to all Bluetooth sensors and It exports your ride to Strava automatically when you finish. I measure speed (wahoo sensor), heart rate (polar sensor) and power + cadence (Assioma pedals). Works flawlessly and with a relatively new phone I can do 6 hour rides without battery issues.

    I got Quad Lock about a couple months ago and absolutely love it! Got the poncho for when it rains, the out front mount and the ring stand and I love them all!
    I ran into the same thing when I first got mine trying to get it locked in just right - but now I got it down.
    Only bummer is just a couple of months after getting mine, they launch the MagSafe case!

    Quad Lock is about three times expensive compared to Tusita available on Amazon. The Tusita lock system is compatible with Quad Lock cases and vice versa.

    Hi Charles, I think it would be great to tell at the beginning of the video that this video is sponsored by Quadlock just to be transparent with your audience =) Good content!

      Hi Laurent, QuadLock sponsored the upcoming cycling feature film from my trip to Iceland and not this review video. But I've added a mention in the video description, thanks! I'm still 100% honnest and sharing my thoughts, no review or editing request has been made by the brand before publishing it!

    • @bengt_axle
      @bengt_axle Рік тому

      @@CharlesOuimet I think what Laurent is saying is that there is no flag that says "Includes paid promotional content" like we see on other channels like GCN. I agree with him and moreover think that this would be a good thing for YOU to include, as a service to the viewer. It builds your credibility.
      No one will ever buy a product just because you say it is good. People watching YT today are very much aware of how manufacturers rely on influencers in lieu of advertisement. But even when you do a promo video, it can still be very good and interesting if you show the product with very good camera views (being a pro photographer gives you an advantage) and discuss what the problem the product solves. Objective information you provide can be very interesting to the viewer who is wondering, "Will that work for me?"
      I see that Quadlock is still a very good protection case for a phone and still may be worthwhile even if you only have it on the bar for a few minutes while you need to find your way using an offline map. If a phone can take the place of several other devices, like a camera and computer, then there is a place for a product like this.

    I have been using a QuadLock with my iPhone for years now. One thing I would add to your presentation is that there are a number of very full featured cycling apps for iOS or Android that can turn your phone into a damn nice cycling computer. Of all of these apps, and I have tried just about all of them, Cyclemeter is by far the best. It offers much of the functionality of the best cycle computers, including left-right pedal power. I do carry a portable battery that mounts to my handlebars. So if I go on a full day ride, I connect my phone to the battery.

    I HATE to have my phone in my jersey pockets, so i'm using a Quadlock holder on the stem and have my Karoo 2 on a classic GPS mount, perfect combo !

    Been using quadlock since I starting road cycling 2 years ago. Only downside is battery life can be an issue when running strava onscreen constantly. Otherwise it saves hundreds on purchasing a high end bike computer.

Last week just started using landscape mode wuth stem mount. This gives more leg room and looks cool. Today gonna try up front mount reversed to go over stem in landscape. Let me know if want update

    Tip: phones have driving modes designed for hands free usage in vehicles, with larger buttons, simpler displays, and screen dimming features.
