- Why they stopped the Brighton Speed Trials.
We had the honour of competing in our classic minis a couple of times and wish we had done more.

At some point in the early 80's i was part of our local cub scout team who went down to Brighton and raced Go-Carts that we had built along the promenade there. I'll never forget it. Its a shame they're no longer going to be doing the speed trials. We need to somehow hang on to as many racing meets and historic car meets as we can (London/Brighton etc) before they all disappear. The Irish road racing series nearly went under last year due to the increasing cost of insurance for the events. I feel like its all hanging in the balance and I hope im just paranoid 🙏
Oh that’s so cool. Yea I think petrol motorsport is going to become historic but it will be a shame to loose the venues in the process.
It is crazy how they are killing our vintage motor sports. In California some people are trying to close Laguna Seca. However, you should plan to join La Carrera Panamericana, almost 3000 miles across Mexico. Probably the last of his kind, It is wild.
I am so going to look that up today. Yep such a shame these historical events are disappearing, glad you enjoyed the video
Being born and bred in Newport, I remember in early 70s was it Geoff Dutch, he was a couple years older than me and he had a younger brother John and had a workshop in New st and was the mini man, he had a 6 wheel mini pick up, I was a Ford man back then so did not have a lot to do with him but remember his cars around
Yea they are still around and active on the Isle of Wight Mini scene 🤣 glad you enjoyed the video
What a shame
Yea thats a big chunk of history come to an end - genuinely wanted to take my dad to this years event as a birthday present
