My favourite thing about Goodwood is Nick Swift and the Minis’ Wilo3 and the Patrick Motorsport mini are my dream cars 😊

The Minis versus the American barges at Goodwood is probably the best spectacle in motorsport.

It was great to hear the story of Swiftune, a modern mini tuning firm. Back in my mini racing days such firms didn't exist, it was all DIY. I stopped racing in 1963/4 after the introduction of Broadspeed's S's. There was no way that we could complete with them and their (relatively) vast resources. By the way I was a member of TEAC when they invented rallycross and involved in its promotion.

One of my favorite guys to watch racing against Alfas, Cortinas American V8's etc. Magical. Also got a SW5 cam in my car. May you continue long into the future.

Awesome! One of my favourite parts of Goodwood is when Nick comes out in his Mini and embarrasses the larger cars. I have a "new" Mini Cooper so when there's a Mini in the race, that's who i'm cheering for. :)

Great video and story. I especially loved the engine development, specs, head castings etc.
My pal since we were kids Graham Davies (rip) worked for Downton engineering and on their famous A40. A genius mechanic since he was 18 got me totally interested and involved in his racing world, so i thoroughly enjoyed this video, thanks.👍✌️🇬🇧

Swiftune probably have more experience of extracting maximum power from A-Series engines than anyone. Their crankshafts with two dummy main journals and extra counterweights are brilliant.

Hahaha I remember rallycross from back in the day …as a kid I didn’t realise there were different racing series but loved BTCC because my father’s car was on track …and then rallycross had cars racing on a dirt…so just like me racing my toy cars in the back garden 😂😂😂
Ps Nick looks way younger than I imagined lol….I swear watching the in car footage of him racing at Goodwood ALWAYS puts a smile on my face! Would love to be a passenger with him in one of the Minis tearing around Goodwood 😈😈😈

Hi Nick Out of interest, what camshafts do you use? or do you manufacture your own? In the days when I had a 1275 I put , I think it was BL 88g229, with more valve open times than
a 1/2 race cam, made it quite a lumpy engine but boy, did it go!.

Issigonis tried to replace the "A" engine with a flat four in both the Morris Minor and then the Mini, but here we are with that obsolete long-stroke engine designed to beat the English tax systems still being refined.
