Why don’t the organisers have a hot rod class at the Speed Trials? I’d love to see your Model Y clock 12s quarters. Did any of the early British hot rods run at Brighton back in the day? I can imagine it, especially a Ford Pop with a new blown Standard Vanguard engine blitzing the quarter mile in 15s in 1949.
I don't know actually, we have already seen some Pro-Street (Doorslammer) Drag Racing Machines (Like that Monstrous Black MKIII Capri!) competing at the event in Recent Years, so that could be used for a Precedent for a Hot Rod Class. Maybe they are worried about the Risk of Fire involving the "Top Fuel" (Nitro-Methanol) , which is why they stopped the Drag Racers in the 1970's? those fuels are properly Explosive after all and a Fire involving Nitro-Methanol would do an incalculable amount of Damage... a "Gasser Only" Rule (Pump Fuel (Such as 107 Octane Shell V-Power) or no Running!) could be away around that however. Problem is, Brighton and Hove City Council have long wanted to get Rid of this Event as it does not Comply with their "Green" Image, and they nearly succeeded in 2012 after the Tragedy, caused by the Council's insufficient Repairs on the Road might I add, that befell Charlotte Tagg, it took Westminster ( *Parliament* !) Stepping in and Giving the Event Heritage Status to get it Running again, so I do not blame the B&HMC if they do not want to "Push it" just in case a "Top Fuel" Fire involving a Hot Rod causes the Council to put the Stoppers on for good. EDIT: Sadly, the worst has come to the Worst, the B&HMC are unable to get Insurance to Run the Event, no one wishes to Insure it, and they cannot afford to keep running it at a Loss, as a Result, it has now been Permanently Cancelled. Its Over. The Greenies Won. I am sorry to have to bare such Terrible News.
Great work
Enjoyed, thanks for sharing Nick 👍 🙂
That yellow hot rod was just like a corgi dragster I had 1972
Wild Honey... 😁

How come you didn’t put a number on the y nick. Very good enjoyed.
I was part of the Hot Rod Show, we weren't doing runs, just a static show...
