As a co-driver I've been with drivers where I was just waiting for the crash. This mans driving doesn't scare me. With a little practice I could keep up on the notes, not used to this much speed. It does get the heartbeat up. Nice control.
Curious! Does the "skill" of a co diver impact much at a certain level or is it kinda stagnant eventually compared to the driver that has a lot of "impact" as every second matters and even at the top the top 10 drivers are very diffrent

It is very much a team effort. Driver, navigator, and support crew. Any one of which can screw up. If a driver messes up you either slow down or crash. If the crew isn't where they are supposed to be...bad. Sometimes you can get by but no service is bad. If the navi screws up the driver can miss a corner or go off course.
Anecdote...I navigated for a newer driver. He had never finished a rally. With me we came in 2nd in a whole series. The next year he had another navigator and never finished a single rally.

I love the driving style, no silly waving of arse out of corners, just gets it straight really quickly and plants the power
How an Escort should be driven, minimal oversteer, minimal steering imput, neat and tidy.
Available space, or lack off, can make you DO what you have to do.
Drifting is one of the slower ways around a track but it does help set drivers up for the next corner...
I think on 3:57 you can see how natural he drifts through the corner. Because of his little steering input to the left at the entry of the corner.

Yes though this is true mechanical teams do play a huge role, what I'm trying to say is that they are not entirely the special ones as I doubt you would say if you didn't already know how to realign a suspension system or anything automotive at all, that you yourself would lack the ability to learn or obtain said crafts. (The Pilot) or the driver in this case would be a more rare and thus more sought after and a positions that is looked higher upon in my argument because its in my belief that not everyone can perform on those or any required level of any organizations standards such as Nascar or Rallying events such as this one, but I'm sure you can drive like that as well right? Not discrediting the mechanics at all being an aspiring tech myself, I just give credit where its due and the driving or pilots abilities and yes you could argue the mechanical teams abilities with the cars performance as well, however its far easier and more people are available or can be available for the mechanical job sector than actual people who perform or can feasibly perform on required or depicted levels as in the video.
Well,of all the driver view rally cams I've seen.....this is honestly one of the better ones! I could actually see the road and turns and braking points and turn ins. In many other videos you're lucky to see the road 50ft ahead of the car.

5:03 Came in a little hot, car understeers and oversteers and he still exits the corner smoothly.
He came like a spaceship. That 5:00 brake is so intense and as you say he still manage do take that corner smoothly

It seems like anyone in Motorsports with the last name Newman, wether if they’re even related or not, turn out to be some of the greatest drivers in their respected Motorsport.

Similar with name Sebastien and France, where both rally drivers, Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier, are from France and are dominating in WRC. Interestingly, Loeb is born in February, as well as two other drivers were (at least those known well enough to be in Wikipedia, although they were racing, not rally drivers).
In addition, I've read that people that are left handed have a little bit better spatial awareness that helps in driving a car, and which can be developed through gymnastics (which Loeb did in the past and if I'm not wrong, he is a left-handed person too).
I think if one day there will be a left-handed, french rally driver named Sebastien Newman, who will be born in February, trained gymnastics in the past and rode on a bike (like Loeb did in his youth, which gives you different awareness of the road because you have to pay attention to things you don't worry about when driving a car), it's gonna be the most depressive era of motorsport for all his opponents haha.
As someone who used to dhis as a hobby I can appreciate a good driver / codriver combination. This is by far the best rallye video I have seen.
That’s a very well set up Escort being driven very well. I thought at first by how stable it is at speed it must be a Peugeot 306 you don’t see many escorts like this one. It just shows how much faster you can go without all that dangerous sliding about n wearing tyres out when your cars set up properly & you know the fastest way to drive not the Dukes of Hazard way😂
